  1. A local cacher never logs more than "tftc". Why? Not sure. He caches from a cell bought for the purpose, has no internet at home. More likely he is a tad uhm.... spelling impaired, given that his user id is misspelled. No problem for me, no big deal. His cell does not attach a "found using my whatever" footer. Neither does my BlackBerry. I write a bit more, but I like writing. Sometimes I log from the phone, sometimes from my desktop. It just depends on where I am. I really cant see why anybody gives a hoot what someone else uses for tools without knowing why that tool is their choice. I'll stop rambling now. Logged from my corporately owned Dell Desktop, using IE6 and XP.
  2. Nothin' fancy, just plain old liars. Been around since people.
  3. I usually wear boots or other heavy shoes when I'm out in the woods. Nuff said.
  4. My wife has a couple of hides under her own account, but doggone if I'll log them. They just sit there near the top of my search page. I helped her hide them. Her hides are specifically made to be handicap accessible. Mine aren't. I just let them sit on the list so I can see the finds on them.
  5. Nope, I have my home coords where they need to be. Just no joy from the Javascript.
  6. Clicked on the link. Nuttin. The browser sez, down there at the bottom "java script:void(0)". Ain't goin noplace.
  7. I use a Verizon BB Storm 9530, (the old one). I have both CacheSense and Geocache Navigator running on it. I dumped BlackStar as I didn't find it to be very functional. Free, but not very functional. GCN was on sale thru BB App World for ten bucks last weekend, one time buy, no fee. Live updates from the website, caches don't show on the maps, doesn't handle GPX. CacheSense (used to be CacheBerry), also ten bucks. Handles GPX files great, a lot like having GSAK in your hand. A bit problematic as to its seaching the website. Caches will display on Google maps or BB Maps. You choose. Oh yeah without connectivity, GCN don't do nothin.
  8. Brutus and Carmen, my two little caching buddies send their condolences.
  9. It sounds like a pain in the tail to me, especially if I am logging other than from my desktop. 2-3 caches not so bad, but a bunch might degenerate into cut and paste "Out caching with my wife. TFTC"
  10. As a non-premium member you can download .loc files. Easy GPS is a free program that can work with them, but the information in them is very limited. Name, GC number and coords are about all that is included. There is a check box on the search page for that feature.
  11. I work in pretty much what I like. Good taste prevails of course, nothing that might offend of get you in hot water with HR, but Caching tee shirts seem just fine, and paired with jeans or cammy pants they make excellent grab the cache after work gear. I guess there are some advantages to being a punch the clock turn the screws sort of guy. hairball
  12. I use CacheSense on a BlackBerry Storm. Sure I log from the field, sometimes as I walk back down the trail to the car. No tag line that I've ever seen. I think I'll continue to use C/S and not mess with Trimble. I sure wouldn't let logs with a tag line on my caches bother me though. I'm glad to get the logs in any case. hairball uh, snob statement? I could also log "Found with a five year old Garmin that was out of date when I got it while driving my 17 year old Jeep with the holes in the body, floor and the muffler." Nothing elitest about it, it's just a phone.
  13. The most dangerous cache is the one placed in the yard of a psychotic neighbor without his permission. Near his private gun range would be a good choice.
  14. Lots of cemetery caches in Ohio. I like 'em. I've seen many interesting things there. As to the potty mouth cacher above, I suppose if he dislikes cemetery caches he could avoid them and not visit or log them at all. That would take care of everyones problems. No bad language, no offended folks on any side of it. But gosh, what fun would that be?
  15. My monthly sneezed a couple months back. I even got the "thank you" from GS showing paid. Cancelled anyhoo. I forwarded the Paid notice back to GS. They reinstated my premium a couple of days later with no problem, and my monthly fee continues to pay and be accepted.
  16. Never heard of either one. Who the heck are they? I'll go with my wife like Cotati suggests. My wife for me, his for him just to clear up any misconceptions from that.
  17. would like to have the help of someone Swedish. would like to know how to do line break when writing in html translate.google.com there you go
  18. I log 'em all. Sometimes I'm wordy, sometimes not so much. I don't see TFTC as an insult, but I'll say a bit more than that. If you find one of my handful of caches, I really enjoy seeing your log, even the ubiquious TFTC. And, if my post sez "post from my superdevicephonethingy" it's because the phone thingy adds that all by itself, without my prompting, but I've never seen that in my logs from the phone. It's just handy to do it, no great feeling of technical superiority or anything like that. AND I don't have to remember a week's worth of caches when I get to a more potent computer. Just my opinion and worth what you paid for it. hairball
  19. "Groundspeak app. for Blackberry" ???????????? Cacheberry I know (and use) but I've not heard of an official GS BB app. Last I knew they were supporting the wonderous iphone and Android OS, with BB, win mob and all others left alone. did I miss something?
  20. I have visions of Johnny 5 motoring cheerfully through a park headed for a cache under a hollow log. He is accompanied rather Pied Piper like by about 30 elementary and middle school kids seeing where the heck is THAT THING going? It doesn't end well.
  21. Kids? People take kids? Oh yeah, I took an early teen niece once or twice, but I'm not really sure she got it. My "kid" is grown, happy to see me and my navigator having fun at it, but without a particle of interest. I do take a couple of yorkies on leashes sometimes it there is a trail without a bunch of bushwacking, but no human kids.
  22. My wife uses a power chair occasionally. She has placed a couple of caches from her chair. One is on a paved trail, the other is on a trail that is less than paved. She assumes that if she can get there, so can most chair users. The same applies to reach. Actually one of them seems to be easier for female cachers, the wives and girlfriends seem to be the eyes on that one. Why, who the heck knows?
  23. Fried hamster - good for dogs bacon - good for dogs chocolate - very bad for dogs
  24. I'm going out on a limb here, but I suspect DOD & corporate America use IE6 because of the fact that most of their computers use some form of Windows. Running IE6 is well within the capabilites of most of the machines. Because the taxpayers would justifiably shriek if computers were changed every time a new version of this that and the other thing comes out, they continue to use a lowest common denominator setup. This holds for the private sector too. Around here they have reduced the number of PCs as much as possible, stating that they save a total of $1400 per year for each one they can eliminate. It is unlikely that they will change to Linux or MacOS real soon, either. Linux is rather specialized and Apple is, outside of graphics creation and such, seen as pretty much of a consumer, rather than business platform. Firefox and Safari, again seen as mostly for the hobby market as opposed to the office with 6000 or so machines on the network. I don't see them jumping away from IE real soon. We have several XP boxes, recently converted from 2K, and still at least one still running 2K. Not long ago we retired an IBM 1800. Now off to Google with ya to see what that was.
