  1. You should try one of the other brands. You don't even get a manual. After taking them back my wife and I bought Legends...so much easier. Take your time and do as others have suggested.
  2. With my Legend Cx I autoroute to where I think is closest and then recalculate offroad and use the compass/bearing page. I have found a couple of times that if it thinks you have found the waypoint it will stop navigating. If it does that find the waypoint and do another goto.
  3. A what? Oh you mean a moot point. lol
  4. My vote is for the Legend Cx. My wife and I have one each and love them. With the Mapsource CS software they autoroute and with a bigger card get quite an area onboard. We use ours for geocaching mainly. I find it great for it's small size yet the screen is big enough when driving. Of the ones you've picked the Legend Cx is the one. More expensive units will be even better (have bigger screens etc) but I can't sayenough good things about my Cx
  5. Of course if you miss your turn it will beep and recalculate and that is hard to miss.
  6. My wife and I have Legend Cxs and love them. We started with a different brand but found them hard to use. We then bought B&W Legends and found them good but a little lacking. Tax money came and the first thing we did was upgrade to the Cxs and CS software. I can'tsay enough good things about them. I do have to admit that paying more would probably get a unit that does even better but our Cxs geocache and autoroute great. Shop around we bought our Cxs for $250 each and the CS software for $120
  7. My wife and I just did this. We tried Magellan Miridian Golds and didn't like them. (That is not saying they are bad). We took them back and bought Legends which were good but lacked in a few ways. We now have Legend Cxs and love them. Ours also came with 64M cards which is sufficient for our needs. We also bought CS software which completes a great package. $244+/- for the Cxs each and $120 for the CS software from GPSnow. What we have now is exactly what we were looking for .... they do caching and autorouting. Admittedly more expensive units would do these jobs better but the Cxs do just fine.
  8. Go to the trip computer page then menu, reset, make your choices, then apply. I think this is how I used to do it on my Legend
  9. I second that. Careful shopping will get you one for less than $250. My wife and I love ours.
  10. I went with GPSNow. Great customer service and a good price for the GPSr that I bought. They even called me to verify against fraud as I have an out of state phone number
  11. If what I am looking for is not obvious when I get close I will do a "walk past" when my pointer shows 90* I look to see a landscape feature where the pointer is pointing. I then do a "walk past at a different angle and see where my imaginary lines intersect. I am sure I could say that better. Does it make sense?
  12. You'll love the Legend Cx. Buy the mapping software, I suggest Mapsource CS. My wife and I have one each.
  13. Famous last words. The "finance controller" says I can't have a 60Cx
  14. If you search the internet (GPSnow) Legend Cx can be bought for $250. My wife and I have one each and love them. We bought Mapsource CS and love the autorouting. Wal-Mart seems to be selling the older models that they must be getting on clearance from the manufacturers. The way I see it is I now have a GPSr that will last me a while without needing to upgrade.
  15. You don't have to buy the mapping software but buying it completes the package. Only Garmin Mapsource maps will work on a Garmin although I believe there maybe some workarounds. I upgraded from a Legend to a Legend Cx and love it. Especially with the mapping and autorouting.
  16. My wife and I just upgraded from Legends to Legend Cxs. We bought Merigolds first and hated them. Replaced them with the b&w Legends which were better and now the Legend Cxs. This is all since Christmas. What's more we love the Cxs. They do everything we want them to and are easy to use. We bought ours with Mapsource CS from GPSnow....best price we could find. They also called me to check against fraud (Ihave an out of state ph #) We originally bought them to use as a cheap autorouters and then found out about geocaching, so they get used for auto routing and caching. I could not be happier with my Cx as it does everything I want it to.

  18. Thanks for that. My wife and I just checked our Legend Cx's and they have 64M cards too
  19. Another consideration is the people that walk the trail the reverse way who wouldn't be able to do it.
  20. I may be right out of line here but my understanding is that Metroguide supports routing on the PC only. HTH Tim
