  1. I'm obviously not Tim, but I can say I/we absolutely love mine. I know there are some that are probably better but since I/we were just starting our kids decided to give this to me as a birthday gift.
  2. Events are usually a good place to discover some of the decals on vehicles as well as tattoos (and coins, etc)
  3. Not that we've been to any of them but... 10th Annual Texas Challenge 2012 (which was a Mega Event) was just held 3/10/2012
  4. Cool! Now go ahead and log it! And be sure to drop the owner an email telling him where you found it.
  5. Oh! Now that does sound like fun. I'll have to talk to the hubby to see about planning something along those lines. May even incorporate one of those magnets into the "Texas Size Nano" I've been planning
  6. Congrats! Glad your new hobby has helped you That's the truth We usually only get to spend 1 day of the weekends caching & unfortunately weren't able to do any last weekend... talk about withdrawals -gasp- Thankfully the weekend is starting soon We started 12/28/11 to "get out of the house" & exercise. I've lived in the area the majority of the time since '89 & I've been really surprised at the places we've visited that I never knew about. So, even with gas prices going up I'd have to say that Geocaching is an excellent "addition to have.
  7. Since we are in the planning process of planting a few cache I'll have to let hubby know about this. Missed the last LnL set they had. Thanks
  8. That was my guess as well Unfortunately I guess this part of Texas also does the "New York Style" if that's the case.
  9. Just took a look.... "633 - 4:04 PM - DNR + J1 - SB2012" 633 was the # they have found 4:04 PM is the time they found it DNR is part of their username Too close to my bedtime to figure out the "+ J1 - SB2012" (although the 2012 part is probably the year)
  10. On your profile there is a tab called "gallery" which should show you all of your photos. Your Profile w/link to Gallery
  11. Love the idea. We were thinking of doing something similar as well. For now I have been making small key-chains, tokens, miniatures from polymer clay. I use a biz card & write (until we get printer going again LOL) a little note to place with the item inside a small zip-lock style baggie.
  12. I seen a video similar to that. If I recall correctly they'd placed a card (or something) there that said to call _________. When the number was called it gave the cords to the next.

  14. It was more of a commercial type one but I did that to flowers from my grandmothers funeral back when I worked at a school & had access to a Laminator.
  15. After exchanging 11 or so emails the first day this was posted we thought we only awaiting the final information & to plant the cache. Had everything else that was needed here. But after receiving an email today unfortunately we won't be apart of this nor are we interested in the "ancillary caches" mentioned in the email. Hopefully this goes well for everyone involved.
  16. I think our favorite DNF occurred a couple days ago. Went to "Ruins on Hackberry Creek" GC3A6D1 We found many old foundations, a few deep trench-like holes (made of concrete) that had trees growing from them, a well, lots of bricks & some tires all piled up on one foundation. We'll definitely have to make a trip back out that way. But it may be a while since we usually only go caching on the weekends & it's 2 hrs drive away. The cache page doesn't say what used to be here nor what happened, so in the meantime, I have attempted to find out online to no avail.
  17. Yeah, the craft store baggies I've found have always been pretty flimsy. The pill bags are much thicker. Better yet you can buy ever thicker bags online, though you have to buy like a thousand at a pop. We were told about those at the first event we went to so made a stop at Walmart on the way home to buy some. We haven't placed out first cache yet but they have some in handy so far for the handcrafted miniatures, tokens, key-chains I've made as well as when visiting a cache and a baggie is torn we use one to replace the torn bag. briansnat, can/will you tell me where to get the even better ones? We have a hundred or so of these but may look into buying those even if it's a thousand bags at a pop... I'm sure they'll eventually be used
  18. Although I could be wrong, I think "collectible" would be a trackable that you planned to KEEP in your possession.
  19. We're far from "experienced cachers" but if we lived a little closer together (we're about 3 hrs north) we could meet up sometime & perhaps help some. But Gitchee-Gummee & niraD have offered some great advise/suggestions. And the "Pictures - Cool Cache Containers (CCC's)" thread will sure help (at least it has for me/us)
  20. A Bee-Bee Gun of course! Someone had to say it...... I KNEW someone was going to have that reply
  21. We're far from being "experienced cachers" but like the others mentioned, try to find larger (and beginner) caches if possible. In our area though there will be an (over)abundance of micro (especially nanos) which ended up being our first couple finds. Also as someone mentioned reading through the "Pictures - Cool Cache Containers (CCC's)" will help you know what to look for.
  22. We found 7 cache yesterday so filled in that day on our calendar (which is far from being filled LOL)
