  1.

In a separate question, the Oxford 2012 Geolympix raised over £2,000 and it's still the organisers' intention that the three charities supported by the event/s get a healthy chunk of that, but we want to know this: what is the caching community's consensus on using some of that money to fund another UK (Irish?) Geolympix Mega? If the feeling is it should all go to charity, the organising team will respect that - it was our original intention, after all.

    This quote from your FAQs

all excess funds will go to charity.

    Seems to answer this question

  2. PS: anyone was free to contact Groundspeak at any time, and query the way I had interpreted the wording of the Buried Guideline. But did anyone actually so so? Instead, did they just decide, that because they did not "agree" with the interpretation I gave, that I was completely wrong, without asking the company who write the Guidelines! Or actually asking me personally, where I had got the interpretation from.

...if you read that post entirely, it's clear that at that time the rule had not been changed.

You are correct, at that time the rule had not been changed, BUT - the decision to change it had been made.

  3. I recently upgraded to version 8 of GSAK but registered it to my Wife's name......Unfortunately, this info has been deleted erroneously and I need to contact GSAK. Can anyone help in contacting GSAK without a user name/password?

As an aside, I can't seem to transfer cache locations from GSAK to Memory Map (it was OK a week or so ago) and I'm getting an error message which reads....Failed to open import file (20D04FEO-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B-30309D)Great Dalby.csv

    Thanks

I would normaly driect you to the GSAK forums, .... but just this once.... try this link

  4. Respecting the wishes of the OP - will not give out details but can confirm there is no traditional cache near the range. There are however several puzzles within 2 miles, and also several multis. The puzzles aren't obvious ones (to me at least!), and the multis would require going there. So while we can speculate, really now a reviewer is needed (or a local who has found all the caches in the area) - to confirm if there is a cache near the range or not.

As others have said, it could be an error by the finder on a multi or puzzle which took them to the wrong place.

I believe reviewer Antheia has been lumbered is dealing with this

contact her thru her profile http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=58f91f8f-f9c7-4427-97bf-890e464b7bb1

But feel free to message me a GC number (if only to satisfy my own curiosity)

  5. Could we please get back on topic,

This thread is about "mega 2013",

Not the merits/names/location of future or previous mega events (most of which already have their own threads)

  6. I wonder whether the reviewers have more access to our details than regular cachers?

I think all GS know about me (that isn't publicly available) is:

    1. My Email address
    2. My real name (I think I had to enter that when I signed up years ago but not sure)
    3. The IP addresses I use to access their site
    4. MY Paypal account (but only because I pay PM fees that way)
    5. The home co-ords input on my profile (which aren't at my home anyway)

So I hope the reviewers don't have access to 4, but do they have access to the others? Perhaps a passing reviewer can confirm.

    [*]My Email address

Not unless you choose to share it (via your profilepage

My real name (I think I had to enter that when I signed up years ago but not sure)

Nope, reviewers can not access this information

The IP addresses I use to access their site

Nope, this info can only be accessed by the GS Lackys (employed at GS HQ)

MY Paypal account (but only because I pay PM fees that way)

Again nope, (but if you want to send them to me [:D] )

The home co-ords input on my profile (which aren't at my home anyway)

Once again nope. All can see is the distance from your "home" co-ords to the co-ords of any cache you submit for publication

To sum up, - reviewers (to the best of my knowledge) have no access to any personal information

  7. I admit this is not cachign related but I am a cacher.... so.......

Anyway. I'm doing a crowdsourced photography projeect about the Olympics and its effect on the local area around East London. I'm after people to be in the project. All it involves is answering a few question and having your photo taken. Doesn't matter your background so long as you either live or work in East London.

If you are a business owner and want to put me in touch with a business owner that would be even better.

Thanks folks. Drop me a pm.

    Luke

As you quite rightly say "not geocaching related" - as such I must close this thread.

I will however leave it visible on the board so people can contact you about it by private message.
