How not to be an officer in a category....
vulture1957 replied to Torgut's topic in General Waymarking Topics
the very reason this category is on my blacklist. <snip> wants this as his personal category. -
Welcome to @IhmisAnkka, and congrats on your first waymarks published

One Category fits all?
vulture1957 replied to 8Nuts MotherGoose's topic in General Waymarking Topics
Oklahoma City had buffalo. I thought to put them in the Fiberglass Horse category, but they only accept horses. I thought it was for these town art objects. -
I have used it before, and I believe the coords would be listed, and the map would show those coords. I just checked one of mine and it is not doing that.

I just can't believe folks are wasting their time and energy to write up these waymarks, knowing that they will be deleted soon. -
Chronograms - I wish I could find one.
vulture1957 replied to Max and 99's topic in General Waymarking Topics
from the category description A chronogram is a text in which the sum of all letters which may be interpreted as numerals yields a year. The letters intended to be interpreted as numerals are almost always highlighted by increased size or color variance, commonly red or gold. The year will, as a rule, indicate an important event, for example the year of construction of a monument or building. The event can also be a natural disaster, a battle, the birth of an heir to the throne or something similar. -

one thing I've seen lately that I'm just learning -- I keep an eye on the "Newest Waymarks" listing. When these "old" waymarks are submitted and published, they are put into the listing on the date created. Say I created a waymark in January, but for whatever reason, I held it till now and submitted. It gets approved. It will not show in the "Newest Waymarks" because that only list the last 30 days.

What should I decide to Waymark?
vulture1957 replied to SpikyLlama's topic in General Waymarking Topics
The problem I see with retail is this: Peer review is looking for global presence. So with retail (Subway, KFC, etc) if they are global, then it is oversaturated. I prefer the local or regional retails, let visitors know what to look for if you are coming this way. -
I would just let him know that as the Category Group Leader/Owner (whatever it's called), I am the one to contact. Then tell him that I have reviewed the waymark, and it does not meet current requirements.

Creating an Assisted Waymark
vulture1957 replied to NW_history_buff's topic in General Waymarking Topics
I thought that I had started to complete a UCW once. I have never been PM. But now, there is nothing for me to click to assign the category. I guess it is a Premium feature. -
Creating an Assisted Waymark
vulture1957 replied to NW_history_buff's topic in General Waymarking Topics
you make the waymark just like normal, EXCEPT do NOT put in a category (or delete the category). Then, when you save it, you will get the message that it doesn't have a category. OK that, and it will go to UCW. -
Welcome to @Na+To, and congrats on your first published waymarks.

What should I decide to Waymark?

I could easily see teenagers going more towards the retail categories. Lotsa numbers, easy to get pictures. Maybe that could actually be used to get some younger blood in here.
