  1. I've seen quite a few of those in these parts of Michigan. Must have a lot of thieves around these parts.

I've heard of coin owners who choose not to release the actual coin, and instead use a replica of some sort with the Tracking Number included so finders can log it. I've heard of both handmade cardboard coins and more-professional looking substitutes. I can sympathize with those who use these replacements, since coins can get expensive. I would guess (with no way of knowing for sure) that almost all the cardboard "coins" you've encountered have actually been released by the coin owners.

This is the very reason that I was talked into coming out of retirement and starting GxProxy.com. There is such a need for a quality proxy "stunt coin" that can travel with the tracking code and allow those that do not want to chance their original Geocoin going MIA. We sell original trackable geocoins we call Replicoins and the Ready2Go Proxy coins which carry the original coins tracking code and take those who find it to the original Geocoin information and photos. The advantage to the Proxy is that the coin lost to floods, construction or other misadventures can once again travel for $2.99. Having worked closely with Groundspeack and having theire support we are now busy helping cachers resurrect their MIA Geocoins.

We really missed finding coins in caches like 6 years ago when we started and wanted the newer cachers enjoy the thrill of the find.

The Proxy coins were donated to MWGB, ASPGeobash, Geowoodstock9 and will be given to anyone purchasing the Geocoinfest official coin. With the same weight and feel of the minted coins we are on a mission to place coins back into circulation...if you purchased an official event coin and did not receive the Proxy coin make sure you contact us so we can get it to you.

  2. When you decide on what you like engraved on it feel free to contact us GxProxy.com, as we can make a single coin trackable for you. And replace it if it evers goes MIA. We currently offer the Cacheaversaries in Whistles and Carabiners, tracking is optioonal but I will ask Chris Mackey to design Replicoins that can be ordered with the cachers Geonick.

Love the idea of a coin to help celebrate.

  3. We still have a number of the Geowoodstock official coin Proxy coins left (they are free). They were made for ALL THREE of the official coins and some did not realize that we had the proxy coins for the Plaque coins. If anyone purchased or won one of the coins send me a PM as I would like to get the matching Proxy to the owner of the original coin. We will be at MWGB and can bring it to you there.

I LOVE all the coins that folks had made for the event. Now I need to get back into here and do some trading....

  4. Are there any of the event geocoins left?

If anyone has the ASP Geocoin Chipmunk and still needs the Proxy for it send me a PM with the tracking number. We donated the "Stunt" coin (matches the tracking number on the original) to travel so you could keep your original in hand and we still have some of them left that match those sold or have yet to be sold.

They were free and I hate to toss them when I know they could be put to use.... :)

  5. Wow, that really stinks. You might be able to track the thieves with the stolen gift card. See if you have the receipt, or they might be able to track it simply with your credit card #'s. I've seen it work, thief was caught red handed! :anibad:

In this area, thieves have learned to look for the suction cup marks that are left on the windshield or console when a driver takes down their GPS or radar unit, in the hope that they've stashed it under a seat or in the glove compartment. There has been a nasty rash of car break-ins in a suburb just north of mine and a lot of GPS units stolen recently.
I have often wondered about that. My old Nuvi used to have this disk that stuck to the dash, to attach the suction cup to and when I removed the Nuvi from the car the disk remained, and I always wondered if that was a cue to thieves. My current car GPS sticks to the windshield, and leaves a really light suction cup mark... hmm. Something to think about. Thanks for bringing that up.
This is one of the reasons I like my "beanbag" dash mount. It also moves from car to car much more quickly.

LOL, A zip lock full of rice or beans make a great bag to hold mine...since I couldn't find one to buy.

  6. YOu can now get 25 reflectors white or green with arrows for $5.00 and the between markers from GxPROXY.com. If the shopping cart isn't open just send them an email with how many you want. We will be attending a lot of events this year and you can see them in person.

Finally, an affordable way to creat a lot of fun...

  7. Okay..while I haven't opened it yet, I'm pretty sure the bubble mailer I received in my mailbox today contains this coin. Now my dilemma is while it is addressed to my address, it names a geocacher that doesn't live in my state. I checked the Geocoin Addresses document and come to find out it's pretty messed up. It listed a particular name (not mine) next to my geocaching name and address (I've already fixed it to show the right name). Should I open it? Or should I send it on to the person listed on the bubble mailer?

DID you email the mother ship to request mission clarification, you can let them know that you are willing to somplete the mission for the Fisrt Agent if they will allow you to gain top level clearance.....:)

Are those glow colors on the back of the coin? I'm so impressed with the coin that I would take off my tin-foil beanie in order to make cointact! Alien technology certainly is very advanced.

I'm glad you stopped short of being willing to accept an alien probe! :) Nice coin and love the thought put into the website!

LOL, Mine don't just glow but sparkle during the nights with a full moon, then slowing fade away as the moon wains, I feel so fortunate to have been chosen for this special mission, It will travel in it special case I made out of aluminum foil (helps protect it from government sensors) and not just attempt its special mission but make sure it completes it. ROFL. I will wear the special radioactive suit I have made in order to protect myself from it powers and agents attempting to stop us.

We shall accomplishes BIG things in the near future, watch out world there are OTHERS walking among us.....:)

  9. If you plan on at least creating 50 caches, it would be really cool if you took your bumber sticker idea and created a Pathtag, they would cost a dollar a piece ($ 1.00) and it would only be available to the person who is FTF on your cache. Can add to key chain, swag bag, show it off, etc.

Either way, I always collect the FTF and try to add to my caching dispaly area of my office. ;) Go for what makes you happy, you are the one doing all the work.... ;)

  10. Boy, did I ever get HIT.

Been 85 degrees, the temp drops to high 40's and the mail arrives, I open a note and SPLAT, a shiny silver and red snowball got me right between the eyes.

.Thanks Eltada for th reminder of what I had been missing this year. LOL At least it wasn't yellow......<_<

PS The 2 tone key was awesome as well, got so busy wiping the snow from my eyes I almost didn't see it. LOL

  11. I usually Google coins. Just was not thinking about it earlier...duh me.

I would not mind getting a 2007. It is pretty basic but nice. Will have to see what I can do later.

As for where I cached, it was Rochester. Got the Maze and the cache in the parking lot. Will be getting more in May when I head up for the ASP GeoBash.

You can also go to Cointracking.com and do a search under "all" with the name of the coin

  12. I have room for 30 names in my preliminary design. This is what I have so far.

  13. Help! I'm trying to find out how to log in a racing geocoin. I've gone to the website that is on the tag and it doesn't exist. If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

Go the the main page of Geocaching.com and look at the bottom where it says trackables and load the number there. It will take you to the coin/tb home page. You may have to make sure that you have l instead of a 1 etc. some look similar.

You can also go to the cache where you found it and select it from the list on the right and enter the number there as well. Email me if you still have trouble and I will help you out. Good Luck :anibad:

  14. Man o Man!!!! I had a Super day at the mail box after a day of taking cass to the E.R for back pain I got my hearts desire coin,, a red tengwar!!!!!! thanks to a great trading partner. the others are trades too, and a e-place coin Thank you to those trades!!!

    d567c628-9488-47e5-9080-203dd24cc154.jpg

I guess I've never seen one of the Tengwars before, NICE!!! Will have to keep an eye out for one now!

Also, the Earn your stripes coin is PERFECT for us, we have been accused of being sadisctic for some of our briar hides!! I will have to keep watch for one of those as well!!!!

Agreed. The boy rolled down a 30ft hill through briars last week as we were looking for a quicker way out of GZ and then my latest hide was a trek through a briar patch for those who didn't survey the situation first.

When do these come out? Is there a certain date yet? I still don't quite understand the scheduling of the coinclub ones....

The Earn Your Stripes is a Geocoinclub coin, it cost about 10.00 a month and you get a club members only coin and pathtag, plus the chance to purchase the same coin in a LE cersion. well worth the price. Chris Mackey is currently designing most of them and is a great way to get one of his designs.

The one shown above in the plastic sleeve actually has the "Back Vertebrae" around the outside edge, funky feeling coin LOL

  15. Wow, I received the Geocoinclub Dec. Coin, can hardly wait to see the tag. Just wished my pics showed how TOTALLY Black and Shiny Chrome the coin is. And boy have I earned this one, nothing but briars in Texas and Devils Clubs in Alaska LOL

Here are my pics after I "doctored" them up like the designer had originally meant them to be. Would have liked it anyway but since I had seen the art work I just HAD to remove the ink ontop of the letters and brighten up the red. Still need to do a little touch up but from a foot away I didn't see the few places I missed.

  18. MY MOTHER WORKS FOR THE USPS. We were talking about this last week,, dont quote me but this is what i think i remember her saying ,, its 60 cents for the inatial mailer with a object in it up to 2 ounces and then its 20 cents an ounce after that up to 1 pound.

and we were talking about sending coins in a card not a mailer....i may be wrong ,,short memory from that convo,,, i wrote it down but lost the paper too. ooops.

My post office must be ripping me off then. I just paid 79 cents just to mail a path tag in a regular sized brown envelope.

Holy Cow, I mail them all the time in a 2x3 yellow taped to the inside front of a 6" envelope and mail it for the reg. rate of .42. Every now and then they try to caharge an additional .17 for non bendable, but I show them that it does bend. "Has to bend 1" if laid on a table with half off the edge."

  21. WOW talk about timing, I had just finshed chewing out the good ol USA Post office system for charging me $24.00 plus for a registered letter to Canada that was mailed over a week ago and had just today gotten to New York, (it was supposed to have been delivered by yesterday)

when I give up and I go to play poker with the boys.

All of a sudden everyone is shouting about a masked bandit riding a horse yelling package for Frozen Buns, they say it must have been delivered by Pony Express since the bandit was riding a horse. All black with matching Pony Express stamp even. I am amazed they could find me as I am thawing out in South Texas at the moment. Poor rider, had a long ride from the cold in Alaska to the Mexico border but just goes to show how "true Horse Power" still gets the mail thru.

Thank you Oh Masked One for brightening my day and bringing me luck. I managed to take everyones money with this lucky Bandito coin by my side.

LOL Yeep Eeeee I've been Roped. LOL :(:)
