  1. Use waypoint GCF381 in search. Should happen.
  2. Welcome, Bob! Brian is correct on the use waypoint description he gave. Other places to look for helpful hints and such are one the geocaching pages themselves under links and the FAQ's. Have fun!
  3. YEAH! I like it What if you made a few with the Eagle holding a GPS in his claw? With a different GPS (etrex,magellin...)so people could have a choice. Everyone could put on their Government looking dark glasses (Men In Black type).
  4. quote:Originally posted by Mr. Rose:Niether, get a Lowrance Ifinder. Unless you are drawn into garmin and magellans marketing. Isn't that a Garmin Rhino in your avatar?
  5. I use either National Geographic Topo or Mapsource MetroGuide and can place the waypoints/routes on these and send them off to my GPS. Both of these programs run about $100 each. One program should do the trick for you. The MetroGuide will auto-route by way of roads and both can be freehand routed and intermediate waypoints can be introduced. If considering one of these, figure the area that you are going to use more, be it topography or established street/roads. Both can easily be printed to paper. Nat.Geo. makes a water/tear resistant paper that works well but is rather pricey. A plus to the paper is it can be printed on both sides. Both programs you will need to use your GPS and interface cable. I hope this can help you. I do not know if there is a web site for a common map to program in the certain points that you want to do.You may check into the http://joe.mehaffey.com/ This is in the links tab on the caching pages. I know this was a long way around the barn, but I thought it may help.
  6. Dru wakes up with a "stiffy"!!! sorry, is that a little too over the top??
  7. I live aprox 50mi North of that Lat. but work even closer.
  8. Just jump right in and cache. Let it take time to get a feel for it. Buy yourself a vehicle gps mount($32.00 +/-) so you do not have to locate the gps while you are driving. Do some pre-planning on setting out to hunt caches. Areas that you want to cover, types of caches... A partner can be fun, but this is a great hobby/sport that can be done solo.
  9. Add to the list, I mention that I am going out caching, and the dog heads to the door with my geocaching gear and her leash. True story
  10. Michael Jordan quit, and quit, and quit, and is still quitting.
  11. Just a thought. I have picked up plenty of spent shotgun shells and rifle casings as well as tangled fishing line and bait containers when I have been out Caching. HMMMMMMMMMMMM Maybe they should outlaw hunting and fishing too since many of those sportsmen and women leave refuse that is truly trash. I would hope that this would NOT be the case. Both hunting and fishing are vital and necessary sports.

    Hello

Hello Herm Another victim! Have fun and good hunting. This is a great sport/game that the points matter NOT. It is all about what you get out of it and put into it. Find what you want and when you want. It is nice to see other places and things that you never new existed, yet, by good graces another cacher knows of the place and has lead you there. Wait until you use your GPS for a cross country trip that you programed in. Routing. Tracking. YUP. Good stuff.
  15. I too did not receive "unlock codes" with the Mapsource MetroGuide. I am wondering if this is a policy that has gone by the wayside at Garmin. As yet to contact Garmin support for this. This product was purchased at a Sporting Outlet store and was factory sealed.
  16. Just like in the wild, it should be up to "natural selection". Help it along by replacing it in a cache that is a "Bug Depot or Hotel" that might be close to an International Airport and see if it gets picked up by someone heading that direction or overseas say to Europe and alike. Mailing is kind of a lame way for bugs. There is no adventure there. I have sent one to England to be placed by a friend but that will be its launching point and the record will start from there and with luck will return back to U.S. for recollection.
  17. That is why this is such a diverse sport. It lets you know (by the site page) what the cache is about in a general sense. Then you can pick and choose what you would like to search for and the degree of difficulty. Do you want a challenge mentally, physically?? How about a quick trek for the lunch hour or after work?? Want to get out for the weekend on an overnighter?? Might find some in the hills, forests or mountains. How about under water? Yeah, there are a few of those. It is all good stuff here and the credits for the finds are just for you to keep track and who cares what everybody else has. Plant a cache that could be a challenge for others, sit back and enjoy the results when people log in and let you know about their experiences in finding the cache that you created. Multies, quickies, puzzle and riddle caches. Have fun.
  18. YUMMY!! I like animals. I think they are delicious
  19. If someone comes across this monkey, they can put a diaper or a pair of shorts on it. Do not take out of circulation. Remember that you are not appointed the quote:geocaching police . This momkey has already had a troubled start in his life (note circumcision).AND, I just have to say it, If your monkey is bad... (hahahahahaha). Just jivin
  20. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a flame
  21. I think a three day weekend would be in order for Geocachers. (with pay)
  22. quote:Originally posted by PDOP's:I worked at an open pit mine and it's pretty common for shovels, trucks and drills to have GPS. The surveyors love it as it's impossible for the equipment to run down virtual stakes like they used to with the wooden kind. http://members.shaw.ca/pdops/ Old joke for PDOP'sIf you are ever lost in the desert, just hammer a wooden stake in the ground and just catch a ride on the next truck that comes by to run it over.
  23. Good advice by dusty on the 1/1 You may consider hiring a wheelchair for a day or so and then check your online sites with 1/1 criteria. Maybe do a few recons. on a few to make sure they are wheelchair accessable with light walk-ins that she can handle for short periods. Just a thought
