  1. wur er yah smokin, Matt? My guess would be pork or beef Kinda what I was thinking too.
  2. <finds soapbox and climbs on> I don't believe that it has anything to do with the container, for example micro vs. ammo can vs. lock-n-lock, but the location that a cache is placed. The helter-skelter way of placing geocaches to just place a cache will make the sport mundane. A micro left in a place of historic interest, view, etc... is, imo, a cache that I enjoy finding. It is at that point more than just a geocache. A cache in a lamp post in a parking lot of a mega-mart...not so much. I tend to not seek those. I plan to keep the game of geocaching interesting for me by not seeking out just any cache. There was a bit a while back on geocaching about "location". I agree with having geocaches be quality over quantity. My opinion for power trails is that it causes more harm than good for the sport of geocaching. It has a tendancy to produce caches just for the sake of numbers. That to me is not good caching. <falls off the soapbox>
  3. <snip> I don't see anything wrong with this specific log. They talked about their experience and were warning others about it. They didn't say that it should be archived because you might get "wet feet, mud, and scraped up on branches and other plants." And they didn't say that it should be archived because it's unsafe for children. They just said that kids might not enjoy it, and that cachers should be prepared for certain challenges on the trail. Nothing wrong with that log...what's more is, I like it. I put it up there for comparison to the archived log to show sequence. Sorry for the confusion about that. The log dates were just a day or two apart. Here is some sample pictures from that cache.
  4. Oh yes. I have had an issue with a newbie complaint. Including a NA attribute with this log: Followed by this log: Followed by my maintainance note: This was a very good cache, even if I do say so myself. That was the only NA ever issued on the cache. Note my signature line. "If you wanna cache with the BIG DOGS..."
  5. I have many times. It feels good to get a special "Thank You" ... It also feels good to think enough of a cache and/or location to send a special "Thank You" to the cache owner.
  6. Are you trying to make the cache page listing in HTML? Be sure to click the "HTML" box, write in your codes for what you would like displayed and then you will need to recheck the boxes at the bottom to verify all of the guideline stuff if editing.
  7. OH MY! Glad you and the family are ok, Ambrosia. To the original poster of this thread...good question. When you posted the question, we were out bustin snow drifts and plowing through muddy roads to get geocaches in Wyoming after the event, 2nd Annual Brunch in Buford: Population 1 where we caught up with a lot of friendly folks. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
  8. I am assuming that when you say Moab, you are refering to the area around the city. There are plenty of great caches on the 4x4/biking and hiking trails. But what's more is the adventure that comes along with finding those caches. Moonflower is a cache that is a lot of fun that we found last September. It has been around since 2001. I don't think you would be disappointed with too many if any caches in the area.
  9. The 40 should be North and the -74 should be west. You are in decimal instead of mm.mmm Is that bad? are they more or less accurate? BTW, thanks i'm submitting it now! EDIT: Oh, and should I put -70 in for west, or keep it positive beause you know it is west because of the negative? In the coordinates section of the cache page, you can change it to decimal degrees (Dec.Deg) and it will help you import the information that way. The N/S and E/W should be in the drop down list. For your location, it should change from N and W. Do not use the neg (-) symbol.
  10. The 40 should be North and the -74 should be west. You are in decimal instead of mm.mmm
  11. Not today, ol' buddy. I read the first couple of lines, decided to look at the day and time posted (went ah-HA!) then skipped right to the bottom to see the "tag" line. Nice try, though!
  12. Pagosa Springs could yet be snowbound early April. Sorry that I can't help you with any recommendations.
  13. Yeah...What "tater" said. It seems to have been that way for a day or so.
  14. No regular? Excuse me. I did indeed mean regular instead of large. I went back and checked my PQ (I ran 3 seperate pq's for the different sized caches) and the "regular" box was checked. I did not run any "Large" cache PQ's. Thanks for the catch. I'll edit my post. Well I would have except there is no edit button on my post from yesterday. So for clarification... Micros (371) 68% Small (118) 22% Regular (58) 10% --------------------- Total (547) 100%
  15. The proliferation of caches in my area from my home coordinates to 20 mile radius are: Micros (371) 68% Small (118) 22% Large (58) 10% --------------------- Total (547) 100% I only used these three cache sizes that are traditional types. Regarding the online log verbosity for myself, I don't chase after the cache just for the smiley. Evidence of that comes from my being a cachers since '02 with under 1k finds. When I find a cache, I like to relay something of the find. (I used to sit down and look at the cache logbooks back in the day. The entries usually said something from other cachers.) I have, admittedly on rare occasions, used TFTC and such when I have logged online. I try not to do that. I agree with Ambrosia, the log is indeed part of my caching experience. I would hope the online log would be of some information or enjoyment for other cachers. Especially when it comes to pictures.
  16. ~Happy St. Patricks Day~ Here is a toast for you: Men are like bagpipes: no sound comes from them until they're full.
  17. RocketMan leaves and the whole place just starts falling apart... Yeah it could be a rough summer with out Dave helping to pack down the rocks.
  18. Colorado is having some rock issues.
  19. This isn't the first time a hole has been punched in the elevated interstate in Glenwood Canyon. Although I think this has been the worst one. The CDOT crews were doing clean up and scaling the cliffside of more loose rock and checking the stability of the mountain. It seems that there is another rather large chunk of mountain wanting to come down in that same area.
  20. I don't do snakes ....well that is not EXACTLY true. Package arrived the other day, btw.
