  1. geocaches on my ignorelist are removed from "Geocaches Found" list and "Geocaches Owned" list in public profile of everyone.

I don't believe that's true of you or any user.

I see 71 CITO attended by the blexa account when logged in as palmetto, (a Premium Account) and when logged in under a Basic account.

Of the 71 v 1 CITOs, user blexa has 70 finds on archived CITO, and 1 find on a disabled CITO. Perhaps you were using some search function that doesn't return archived?

Your image link doesn't go to an image, it takes me to an opportunity to upload images.

  2. if you create a new list ... it won't show on the original page until after a refresh.

this may be your problem, but it reads as if you're not seeing all EXISTING lists?

For that I have no solution.

But, barefootguru is correct, if you create a NEW list as you're on a particular cache page, you won't be shown that list until you refresh, even if you move to another listing, and try to use your newly created list.

On the website, I find it works ] best to click "add to list" with a center mouse click (assuming center button mouse) or right click, open link in new tab/window - those actions bring you toyour lists page, where you can pick one.

  3. Interesting. I see it as published on the site, but when I ask under my admin account to see GStrike79 unpublished caches, I'm shown GC7794P, obviously published!

If no one from Geocaching HQ logs to this thread, or it doesn't self correct, you need to contact staff. It's a bug outside my expertise, for sure. Nothing unusual shows up on the cache page or in logs.

Wait a day or two, then email staff using the Help Center contact us form.

  4. I wonder if you're trying to fit the story into the Short Description pane?

The text length permitted in the Long Description section of a cache page is very very very long...

I just copied and pasted the entire text of this webpage into a cache page 6 times. No problem. Well, it's ugly and loads kind of slow, but cache listing will take it.

  5. Windows Pro, Firefox

Thanks for collapse of Recently Viewed.

Placement of the "manage preferences" link seems even more obscure now than it was before? It's under the pull down menu to the right of Latest Activity.

Reviewer account - logs shown are ONLY Temporarily Disable, and only a fraction of those. Mm, a bit more digging, I think the new dashboard shows only Temp Disabled logs to published caches.

  6. In admin mode I can see that the log was posted Jun/08/2017 - so the email was appropriate - a new back-dated log was posted.

As to why? why back date, why log what reads as a find as a Write Note, you'd have to ask the log owner that.

  7. "In the description I give the code for the lock".

Went looking for your listing - here's another reviewer perspective: with a bit of editing, such that the lock code is actually on the cache page, I'd be good with this aa Trad with Field Puzzle attribute.

Right now, it has a simple puzzle for the code to the lock. Puzzle has 17 possible solutions. This is not "give the code to the lock".

Me, caching with gps, no smartphone, would have to pull out the bolt cutters, or just guess and hope, to get into your cache.

  8. Two possibilities, the caches may archived as lee737 mentioned, AND the other is that you may have the app set up to show only "caches I have not found"! So you don't see them. There's a filter function in the app, you may need to find it and make sure it's showing all active caches.

  9. I'm wondering if ownership of the waypoint page only impacts older hides?

In admin mode, last week I emailed the adoptive owner of a mystery to please fix the waypoints page, which he did ( 2 sets of coords loaded as final, and neither worked in the checker). And, seeing this thread, I adopted a multi-cache from my Premium player account to my Basic member account; basic member account can edit freely.

My recall is that at some point, the script that Prime wrote for ease of waypoint entry became native to the site - I wonder if at that time, ownership of the waypoints page was fixed?

  10. I think that automatically correcting location to coords would cause more issues than it solves.

I regularly see caches where the cache owner has selected Florida, USA, but the listing has W008, instead of W080, which puts the cache western Africa. I also see E longitude instead of W longitude. This means their coordinates are in India or Nepal.

Florida is correct, the coords are wrong.

I also see caches placed in Florida by travelers, events and physical caches, where they selected home area, and their home area reviewer suggested a location change, or simply made it for them. There are far fewer of these than there are of the bad coordinate entry caches.

I agree that the cache report page could call out the location selected a bit more boldly, or perhaps throw a warning about possible issues with a difference between coords and selected location.

  11. When you fill in a new cache report, you'll be linked to this site's listing guidelines. The first sentence has a link the landing page of the Regional Geocaching Policies Wiki.

(Seems a bit backwards that these two resources are generally only seen by hiders AFTER they've already hidden their cache. It's rather hard to come up with a link to the guidelines from Geocaching.com. I did find one on the Geocaching 101 page: Hiding Geocaches - > How do I hide a geocache?)

  12. It would nice if the individual GeoTour landing page did 3 things that it currently doesn't:

    1) show the difference between an archived cache, and a disabled cache. Currently both appear on the list, and they're identical, ie, title in blue with strikethough.

    2) the download did NOT include archived caches.... disabled maybe, but not archived

    3) also nice would be Date of Last Find on that page.. I'd take that over Date Hidden

I don't think running out of premiums or coins is an issue, though updating the GeoTour page with that info would be nice.

I've never seen that done, but I have seen it mentioned on individual cache pages. I've also seen GeoTour owners buy more coins when they run out of the first batch.

A GeoTour has to renew, which has costs, so the truly abandoned will disappear at some point when no one pays the bill ;-)

  13. I don't recall ever seeing anything like this.

Accurate coords are the #1 thing, of course.

The two commonest errors in cache placement that I see are, "too close to existing cache", and commercial language on the listing (easily fixed).

So you want to take with you all the coords of all the caches in the area, and be careful to be far enough from them. Often people forget that they're using an app that only shows "caches I have NOT found" - so the one that they have found, a few meters from where they're standing, is forgotten. Oops.

Or they're set up to ignore Multi or Mystery, oops again.

It looks like you're in Western Australia, you might want to eyeball the land manager geocache policy page You get to land manager policy from the Wiki linked in the first sentence of the listing guidelines.

  14. mmm, you're right, it did used to work that if you tried to add a cache to a list that already had the cache, you were offered "edit the existing bookmark" which allowed you to delete it.

Now you just get "saved", with nothing having actually saved. And you're not on the list page either.

If you're on the cache page, click the link on the cache page to your bookmark list - that's always shown on any page - right side margin, and from the list, click Edit.

  15. kanchan, if you open "add to list" in a new tab or window, it takes you to your bookmark list page, which still loads alphabetically.

I hope they never decide to rearrange that page by "most used" or "last used" - like you, I need to see 'em alphabetically to find the one I want.

I've already adapted to this (I'm mostly a mouse user, and "center click" opens in new tab). I don't know the keyboard command for "open in new tab/window" but if you're mostly keyboard user, perhaps you do.

  16. cezanne may be thinking that the delete photo message is sent to all watchers on a cache, and includes a link to the image.

It was done that way when the feature was new, actually drawing MORE attention to a spoiler photo than simply letting it remain on site.

That was fixed a while back. Only the photo owner is notified of image deletion these days.
