  1. This is a mystery cache, solvable at home. Your projection points have no proximity, ie, they don't need to follow cache saturation rules.
  2. Often the best way to meet people that can become caching buddies is to attend events. Two events upcoming in the Gainesville FL area http://coord.info/GC670MT http://coord.info/GC676N6
  3. A new log, please. If you edit your original note, the CO and any watchers won't be notified. Re what date? dang, I don't know ;-) I'd probably just go with date I'm logging, ie, the default.
  4. irisisleuk, thanks for coming into the thread with this. Apparently it's never happened to me that someone grabbed a trackable out of my inventory. I can verify that there is no email NOW for this case, so evidently there has been a recent change. One can only hope that the bug report is noticed and acted on. Apologies to have come into the thread with misinformation.
  5. To receive emails about a trackable that you do not own, put it on watch. I assume 31 e-mails about trackables you own. You don't receive email about a trackable in your inventory, unless you own it. Oddly, even on trackables you do own, you receive no email when a cacher holding your item "visits" it.
  6. I don't agree with your premise, "people afraid to post NM/NA logs" Some people only log Found it! because that's the only the log with a stat they care about. They aren't logging NM/NA, or DNFs, but not from fear. Many people do post NM/NA logs. Also, I agree with Bamboozle, I see far too many using these logs instead of DNFs. From time to time I email a cacher and explain that it's okay to just log a DNF ;-). I suppose there may be some who don't post these logs because of fear, but I sure haven't encountered it much. In reviewer mode, I get emails asking me to look at caches, ie, email me rather than post an NA. Mostly, these emails come from people who have not hunted the particular cache, but noticed that the cache appears to be missing. I don't think they're "afraid" to log an NA as much as feeling like they haven't been there, so they leave working out disable/archive to me. Seems okay. In my player account, I've logged exactly ONE Needs Maintenance, and regretted it. I feel that if the CO is paying attention, they already know the cache needs maintenance, and if they aren't, the log doesn't reach anyone.
  7. Through the magic of Pocket Queries, I find 9 caches worldwide with the Partnership attribute: 4 in Germany, 3 in the U.S, 1 in Canada, and 1 in France. Because this attribute "ghosts" on queries, a US all States query returns 31 caches. Of those, 3 actually have the attribute. Rock Chalk's recollection is correct - many of the Columbus GA GeoTour caches do return in such a query. I think that the attribute was removed after a decision not to use the Partnership attribute on GeoTour caches. As far as I know, its defined use was for the PBS Dino Train caches and the Timberland caches. I believe all of the Timberland caches had it, all but one of those is archived. Most of the Dino Train caches never had it, as the cache owner cannot add it, and most reviewers didn't add it.
  8. The distance limit on notifications is just a hair under 50 miles. Might this be the issue? To receive Publish logs for events at greater distance, set a new notification with a different center point. https://www.geocaching.com/notify/edit.aspx What? you mean that you receive a Publish notification email weeks or months late? that's happening on your end. [GEO] Notify:Reviewer Published This Event (Event Cache) That Publish log is sent out as it happens. If you get it days or weeks or months later, that's somewhere in the ether. Possibly your ISP throttles email from Geocaching.com? I thing you're probably referring to receiving "Announcement" logs on the Event. Any person who logs a Will Attend receives all Announcement logs as email. This is NOT the same thing as a Notification.
  9. I wouldn't mind an auto archive in a couple of weeks. If the log was archived, it will not show up there. It is true that NA logs go to reviewers, whether they're archived or not. There is no deleted log by you on that event. Only your current note of Oct 30.
  10. Searched for them in what part of the world? There aren't many of them anywhere. Most in the US are part of the Dino Train caches (most of the Dino Train caches do NOT have the attribute). My current All US States PQ asking for any caches with the attribute returns 31 caches (several without the attribute now*). http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=68d9d9b7-2756-4fb1-ade7-cb77172bb6f1 The Timberland caches in Europe would have it. Looks like just one remains active, Paris. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?u=Nature+Needs+Heroes Article with reference to the attribute, http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=121 *this attribute behaves as a "ghost" - ie, it can be removed from a cache page, but a PQ asking for caches with the attribute will still return it.
  11. On the search page, https://www.geocaching.com/play/search scroll down, use the quick search for events, then sort by distance. Or have a PQ set up, Events at x distance from home coords, preview, don't run. (By the way, you asked, I checked the Popular Search for Events in Florida and disabled a boat load of events more than a month past...some more than 3 months. I sure wish event hosts understood that they can disable the event the next day and archive not too long after. Too quick of an archive will confuse and compound some novices of course)
  12. the solution is fairly simple and does not require html. Go to the edit form, and insert a space at the end of the first line. You'll have to shift a letter down to the next line, then insert a space at the end of the second line, you'll need to shift 2 letters down to the 3rd line and insert a space at the end of it etc. This will go fairly fast once you get the hang of it. Do a just a couple of lines, save and take a look at it.
  13. Geocaches are not placed in restricted, prohibited or otherwise inappropriate locations. Additional regulations and laws that apply only to your country and region may further restrict cache placement. A cache may be disabled or archived if one or more of the following is true. Please note that the list is not exhaustive; there are many reasons why a cache may be disabled or archived. 1.... 2. The placement is in an area that is highly sensitive to additional foot and/or vehicular traffic including, but not limited to, archaeological sites, historical sites and cemeteries. Note that some cemeteries permit cache placement. 3.....
  14. The Earthcache will be reviewed by a different person, one of the GeoAware accounts, than the physical caches, and likely will require more time.
  15. thanks, both links were bad - both fixed now
  16. A well organized and fairly up to date list of Souvenirs http://thea-team.net/souvenir And the Groundspeak Help Center List https://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=436
  17. No Message link appears on reviewer profiles. you can use some html to obfuscate that link on your player profile - it won't matter The Message link DOES appear on reviewer owned cache pages, and messages are sent by that link. I expect the bulk of messaging, especially the in the field hint requests that bother you, come via that link, not by viewing your profile. Like you, I receive in both my player and reviewer account messages that assume I'm active on the other end, responding instantly. Mostly I ignore, some i respond to.
  18. "how do you identify the FIRST cache clue in a series" Most of the time it will be at the listing coordinates, "cache on the map". There are older multi-caches of different design, and it's possible for a multi-cache to NOT be sequential - sometimes all the coordinates for all the places you need to visit are supplied, and you can do them in any order. Once you found all of them, you'll have enough information to locate and sign the Final. Link below for multi-cache definition in the guidelines (note that this is CURRENT, and older multi-caches will sometimes offer parking coords as listing coords (and other oddball stuff), and you'll need to carefully read the cache page to figure out how to proceed. With a multi-cache, if you have listing coords (map coords) and read the cache page, you should be able to finish. No complex puzzle solving, though you may have to some simply arithmetic. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#multicache Multi-Caches The coordinates posted at the top of the cache listing are for the first stage of a multi-cache.
  19. <a href="http://jg.eglinforcesupport.com/">Jackson Guard PDF map</a> be sure that there are spaces between this and the text of the sentence funny, the map is down right now anyway...

    Mail trouble?

I believe this has been fixed now.
  21. the coords in the map view in your post are: 43.511094 80.201018 in Decimal Degrees the coords on your cache page in Decimal Degrees 43.51062 -80.20087 The coords you've entered on the cache page are ~180 ft from the illustration in your post here's the map of the coords you entered on your cache page, from the cache, the is the third map link https://www.google.com/maps?q=N+43%C2%B0+30.637+W+080%C2%B0+12.052+%28GC62JC8%29+
  22. 4.4. Display an Image in a Geocache Description I suggest you format your "in the cache page image" down to 600 - 1000 pixels, or play around with this and see what fits well. The site will resize but not well. There's a place in the cache report and edit page for "background image". Insert URL of image. Whether it tiles or not will depend upon the image size.
  23. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Chris+%26+Christine Replace the ampersand with %26, and use + for the spaces I'd suggest instead using the GUID based URL, it will remain constant even if you change your username. You getthat URL by clicking your username from any log you've posted. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=d77260c1-48cb-4e00-9810-dad962ba06e4 on4bam provided the URL based on your User number, which also works. You see see your user number by hovering your mouse over your name on this forum. Don't use ! http://www.geocaching.com/profile/ This will take people to their own profile, not yours ;-)
  24. My apologies, I have complicated this with false assumptions. You named your event for the convention, and mention it in several sentences. I assumed that your event was inside some part of that gathering. And that would mean a new location, as well as the other changes mentioned by the reviewer. The local reviewer may have understood that your event was okay in this regard, which is why they didn't mention it.
