I'm curious, what music do people listen to when they go out geocaching? I like loading Beethoven's Ninth Symphony for when I go out caching or exploring myself. (I particularly like the "march" about 11 minutes into the piece. Sometimes I actually sing along in German when in the car.) Sometimes I also like some techno music from groups like 7.1 and Aura on mp3.com, and I also like a few tracks on the sountrack for the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou?"
So, what do you folks like?

I've noticed that when using a GPS, if you hold the unit a few feet higher, you can get sometimes up to 20% more accuracy. Has anyone ever considered making an "antenna-hat" for their GPS? In addition to the added accuracy, it would also allow hands-free tracking. Anyone ever done this?

Eh, I haven't seen anything odd on my cache expiditions. Odd things I typically attribute to either:
A. Mistaken Identity
B. Camera Faults (light leaks, 2x exposure, etc.)
C. Demonic Manifestations ("real" paranormal stuff)

I thought about this too, but there is a big problem- this cache would look WAY TOO SIMILAR to a PIPE BOMB.

I've been fortunate not to run into any snakes where I've been caching, but I believe that they are in my area.
BTW, how much protection does wearing pants instead of shorts give you as far as snake bites?

Thanks for the info/links! Let's see how my job goes, and I might just have the cash to get a good counter. (I just saw an excellent "constant-monitoring" unit that goes for about $300, sigh...)

I've beocome interested in taking radiation readings when I go out geocaching. (Ok, I'm a nuclear nut, I admit it.) I'm curious if anyone here has ever purchaced a GC, and if they have any reccomendations. (I've seen crap-tacular old Civil Defence units sell for under $50, but they can only detect large quantities (over 1 rem/hour?) of gamma and x-radiation.) I want something that's sensitive enough to pick up to background or 0.1 rem/hour of beta particles or gamma/x-ray radiation. Most units I've seen go for between $200 and $300, but $150 is more in my range. Any info would be great!

There are three caches (now four, I added cache DELTA) out on Presque Isle. If you are ever heading to Erie or passing through between New York and Ohio, be sure to stop and see the Penninsula! It's a very rare and beautiful area.

Does anyone else have this unit? My dad bought it about four years ago for $300, and I must say it was worth every penny. Flawless performance, excellent usability, and lots of features. If I ever need to replace it (god forbid) I'm getting a Garmin.

I wouldn't bury a cache myself, because of the obvious problems:
1. It makes the cache inaccessable to anyone except people who come with digging equipment.
2. It is a pain in the (explitive) to get to a buried cache, this would discourage cachers from visiting your cache.
3. It can disrupt and damage property, espicially in areas like parks.
Like everyone has said before, DON'T BURY CACHES!
