Sorry, should have added, I also bought the MapSource MetroGuide and while it provides a lot of detail for Toronto, I am out in Guelph/Kitchener/Cambridge area

Anyone have any map suggestions? I am using an eTrex Vista and the basemap shows highways out my way (Highway 7, 6, 86 etc) but once I start to zoom in, it's just blank besides the occasional railroad.

They also sell the geocaching.com supplies like hats, shirts, travel bugs, etc.
Just to add to this...I just ordered my GPS unit and some tracking bugs from these guys and they were great! Ordered Thursday, received Friday. They were also very friendly and helpful! (Not to mention that even after paying shipping costs they are cheaper than most places here in Ontario)

When you receive your travel bugs, the code will be on the bug itself and the activation code will be on the outside of the envelope, at least mine were

Yes I am aware of that but I have seen co-ordinates posted in two formats around the site and since this is the getting started area, and I'm getting started
I actually appreciate the help I have received so far, it's been very nice.

From what I've been reading on the site it seems like the site is open to non commercial use and usually site owners are more willing to share thinfs like data, logos etc if it's non commercial.
As a leader of an open source project myself (YaBB http://www.yabb.info ) there are also restrictions on use of that as well. Even though these projects use the GPL license, people must adhere to the restrictions and can't just go wild using bits and pieces.
That being said, I will follow this thread closely as I'd be willing to see how others feel...I was creating my own geocaching page (to follow my finds/hides etc etc) and was considering pulling data from the geocaching site and working with the pages but decided not to for now.

Wow! I never knew ticks were such a big problem for people! My dogs had got them before but I had never got one on me...maybe because I had usually spent 99.999% of my time on my computer...that MAY have had something to do with it

Heh, wasn't sure if it would be a silly question or not but...I have to learn sometime

Haven't chosen a picture yet (took a few) but am thinking of this one:

I see the pictures of the travel bugs and is the idea to send along the stuffed animal/toy etc in the cache or just place my tags in there?
I ask as I am preparing to leave my very first cache

So readings on my eTrex Vista are coming up like this:
N 43º25.398
W080º26.341
and I have to convert to this format all the time for co-ords on this site?
43.538611
-80.514166
Sorry if the question seems redundant but I'm just getting started

Appreciate the input, went out right after work today to buy a container and some things for inside the cache.
I think I got a nice assortment, some things are useful and with the urging of my 6 year old son, I am sorry but you will find one of those little mcDs toys in there
Hey, if it makes him happy, it makes me happy
