  1. I just recently went out and archived my cache at Whistle Lake after I was notified about the removal of caches in the ACFL. Some caches were believed to be harmful to the environment (bushwacking, geotrails becoming an issue, etc.) and the ACFL has policies on making sure people stay on the trail and not leaving trash behind. In this case, a geocache was referred to as "trash" in the letter I received and if any caches are found within the park, they would be disposed of. However, this was a little over a month ago and I'm not exactly sure of what the current conditions on geocaching in the parks are now, but those who were notified were also given the option to persuade the ACFL manager that the placement of their caches met their policies and did not pose a threat to the environment. Some folks may have chosen that option as I see many of the caches are still active. Hopefully things will work out, it would be a major blow to that area as a large majority of the caches in and around Anacortes are placed there.
  2. Like some others have said, a day trip to Whidbey Island definatley worth the visit if your willing to go a little out of your way. Deception Pass Bridge, Rosario Beach, Goose Rock, Mount Erie, and the famous Ebey Bluffs are all within the same general area, are very scenic, and nearly all of them are less than a half mile hike. If your interested, I can give you some more info if you'd like.
  3. Well, I'm currently stuck in the unfortunate situtation where I've sent out one TB and it went MIA. I've also sent out the copy, but that too was stolen. So where do I go to get more replacements?
  4. Is there anywhere that you can buy bison tubes or similiar containers from? I know you can buy them from Groundspeak, but can they be bought from local stores?
  5. Not sure if this is bigger than a prop, but it's something I've never seen before! Bicycle (TB154Z6): http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...1024abb9BicyclE
  6. yeah, I selected the route and hit follow but that's how it appears on the screen Thanks for the tips though!
  7. yeah, I used the "Map tool" icon to select the regions I wanted to add. Here's a few pics of the GPS compared to Mapsource: GPS-- Mapsource--
  8. I think it's already uploaded, because the new maps appear on the GPS screen.
  9. I recently recieved MetroGuide (v8) North America and was successful in uploading the new maps into my GPS. I used the mapsource program on the PC to plan a route of caches I wanted to find on a little trip I'm going take. With the newly updated maps, the route on the PC takes me down not only major roads and highways, but also residential and smaller streets as well. However, when I uploaded the route to the GPS, it only followed the major roads and highways. Is that how MetroGuide works on the GPS or is there something wrong?
  10. This kind of thing happens to me every now and then. I remember my first TB (currently on a mission to Australia), with which I made arrangements with another cacher to take it with them on their trip to Hawaii. They placed it in a cache there and a little over a week later, another cacher picked it up and posted in their log "Will move closer to the Land Down Under". But then they bring it back to Washington, where it it's journey just started! But I guess I shouldn't be complaining either, as my TB did eventually make it to Australia
  11. The cache is the Es Effo Bug Hotel (GCBC09) which is in a park right next to San Francisco International. I'm pretty sure at least half of the bugs in there are needing a ride down there.
  12. Was just wondering if anybody has plans to head to the Land Down Under any time soon via San Francisco. The TB Motel there is packed full of TB's just waiting to hitch a ride down there!
  13. Well, I'm new to all this and I'm thinking about purchasing the Magellan eXplorer 210. Would this be a good choice for beginners? I'm going to use it primarily for geocaching and I would like to know it's pros and cons. Thanks for any advice/tips!
