  1. drneal - I'm glad you're not planning to go anywhere anytime soon. This is a good question so we've updated our Knowledge Book article on adoptions of trackables. It works much the same as caches owned by accounts as well. Regarding the account, we actually do not remove accounts from the system. They can be 'disabled' but the profile page remains on the website. Good info - thank you for this post!
  2. yup indeedy - have emailed link to this thread to rosthafari. personally I maintain a secure database of all website accounts and passwords, as well as a database of all my geocoins ( hmmm which initially included the purchase price but i got slack about that ) which is accessible on my demise. It would be best if disposing of a large collection if a knowledgeable coiner was nominated to provide advice/help I've been absent from these forums for some time - largely due to getting to grips with health issues and getting some of the 'bucket list attended to' (we are all 'terminally ill' if you want to look at it that way - the length of the 'illness' is what is indeterminate - bon chance all!) Oh my, I know about a data base with the purchase prices, I had one - mine has falled sadly behind. But I will get caught up. You are very right - no one (even the owner) should attempt to dispose of Geocoins without knowing their original cost. Health issues can happen at any time. I am sorry to hear, you have been recently dealing with issues. Hope all is well, things are improving or you may be stable. I love your statement about terminally ill! Yes, we are all working on the terminally illness which begins with life called living which ends with dieing - then enter other extranesous issues which may invade us such as illnesses and lest us not forget the horror (for families and friends) of unexpected accident or illness. Lest us all cease the day we rise in the Morning and rest our head at Night! Rejoice - another day for living AND caching! Estate/life planning is not for the elderly, disabled, infirmed, or anyone special. From the age of adulthood, we should all establish a plan, review it frequently and revise it according to life's changes. Now - it would be nice to see Groundspeak address these needs, as well, in a policy statement, guidelines, suggestions, etc.
  3. Dr Neal - I hope what you have opened it not an "unwanted can of dead worms"! I, for one, would like to have Groundspeak establish some concrete guidelines on this! AKC (American Kennel Club) has done so and there are even AKC Guidelines for POAs and death. And folks - what about if you are not dead but can not function (POA is really important). POA is also not valid after your death. All this is heavy stuff but Dr. Neal and others know - important to plan for and no time is to early. Hope to hear/see GS step up to the plate here with a position statement if no more than planning is in process.
  4. This design is definitely a classic. When someone produces a mystery anything - who be we humble seekers to question how they gift, sell or otherwise distribute their wares. Thank you Mystery Geocoin NWO person - for all your gifts to the community - no matter how they may flow or be distributed.
  5. Estate planning is not for the old - it is for anyone who is of adult age majority! One never knows what path life's journey make take you on and how suddenly it may end (as I am sure Dr. Neal knows and my family most recently learned with the loss of a 30 yo). There is much more than the old stuff to worry about today. Accounts on line (facebook, GC, linkedin, tweet, my space) and the like. More than just Geocoins but this is a great reason to open this discussion. Perhaps it isn't unreasonable to ask GC.com about Estate planning as it relates to their site and the ownership of Geocoins, travelers and caches. Something they may be willing to help with and work on. As for dogs and their ownership, Ralph and I have accounted for ours in our wills. There is no question, in our case, who shall become legal owner(s) and who also shall benefit from the transition financially (should our dog survive us). As for AKC dogs, the AKC does have a POA form available for owners too. Just remember a POA is no longer valid upon someone's death. This is good stuff here in discussion..........and I would love to see GC.com become involved in some guidelines for folks doing Estate and long term planning in this regard. As for all the other places, sites and considerations, all we can do it take one thing at a time and do our planning. Thanks for bringing this topic up Dr. Neal!
  6. I really like this coin. It reminds me of several things...........and I hope the Mystery coin person draws me for the next round...........pleassssseeeeeZ!
  7. Wow you both went back a whole year and then sent your email. lol Well, I never was to good at keeping track of the new year LOL
  8. Thank you very much for your responses, especially over the holidays. Happy New Year everyone!
  9. any indication of when the code retriever is going to be up and running? doesn't seem to be any answers in the feedback comments. i am trying to get a bunch of coins activated and no way to find the codes as the coins are older ones. seems there needs to be a better system! or at least one that works. I used the activation code retriever on the GC.com site byself on Friday - it worked fine. One coin I got the code and the other it said the coin company had requested the code be obtained from their site.
  10. Email sent: 1/1/2010 Name received: Mission sent: Mission received: Looking forward to this mission.
  11. Came home from work yesterday and hubby handed me a padded envelope. He said, "Another coin I presume". And when I opened it, #056 was in my hands. I looked at my husband and trembled, "another coin - this is not JUST another coin - it is from Mr. Gray! I am a believer!" Thank you Mr. Gray - I will post pictures after the New Year!
  12. Woop, woop I am in and the APO ones sound like fun to include too - I know they are the same flat rate. Thanks for the mission!
  13. Jammie Girl - 2009 Geocoin - I had not seen this one until reading the mailbox forum........does anyone a close up photo or one??? And maybe one for a trade - contact me personally through GC.com (not the PM's)as any trade list on line if very out of date. Tks - and Happy New Year everyone.
  14. My coins came and are absolutely wonderful! I only wished I could have ordered more. Having been to visit the AK mint means a lot more too. A shame they can't compete with the other mints price wise............but the quality really is much better then their less expensive competitors. I don't think I have all in the series - will have to check. Thanks for coordinating this effort LBK

    RIVERCACHER

Have been off the forum for a while but was sorry to hear River Cacher is in need of prayers. Will add him to our family prayer list. It is always hard when those we know are ill but especially hard over holidays. Thinking good thoughts for our friend.
  21. Have been away from the forums for a while do to some medical issues with hubby. Happy to read up on this one. I was a bit late in replying but did and hope Mr. Gray understands. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year to all!
  22. Oh that is sad, a deployment? Maybe Mr. Gray will understand and find someone to help get your mission to you?
  23. Glad that it arrived and that you're doing good. Actually it's from both of us... We share an account and did this mission together. We hope that she likes the coin... We tried to find one that would appeal to her. My wife liked it so much that we then ordered another one for her. Z. We went to their house for family dinner tonight before Ralph and I leave for 10 days in FL. The vacation we planned before he had some medical issues. I took up the card and helped Amara open it. It was fun watching her. First she was thrilled to have her own mail. Then when we got it opened there was a pathtag (yes, she knows what a pathtag is) and the little package inside. "Oh a present" she said. Amara wasn't going to open it but I assured her it was ok. And then more packing - and we explained it was ok to rip things off. She was very excited and knew exactly what the coin was - she said, "Oh look, a beautiful butterfly! Someone sent me a pathtag and a beautiful butterfly!" I explained about the card and coin swap and told her I had put in her name. "Oh thank you Nannay! I love my things.", came out next. Thank you for including the pathtag, very nice and her Mom has quite the collection (which, of course, will be hers some day). This was perfect and Thanks to both of you again. Hard to get a 3 1/2 year old to hold still for a photo but here are a couple.............. Look a Geocoin and a Pathtag! Thank you for my gifts -- Merry Christmas! Ms Amara
