  1. Thanks for your replies...but I still cant work out how to go about the caches! Maybe I am being thick?

is one of a series of hybrids which says specifically that the coords are not for the cache. But has no clues about where to look.

is one of a series that goes along an old railway line. Am I just meant to start at the beginning of the track and peer into every bush along the route? These coords patently ARE NOT for the caches as they are set out in a perfect circle, which I am sure the railway line was not!!

I must be missing something somewhere... :D

  2. Hi

Apologies if this is in the wrong section (feel free to move it!)

I am keen to have a go at Letterbox caches, specifically the ones on the dismantled railway between Witham and Maldon (in Essex). The route seems straightforward but I seem to be missing something as I cant work out how you actually find the boxes! There's no coordinates and I cant find any proper clues either. I understand about the stamps, and carrying our own logbook to stamp, and all that, it's just the finding them that I cant fathom

Anyone got any ideas for me please?

    Thanks everso

  3. I think I have questioned exactly one log on one of my caches. The name on the online log was unfamiliar, so I checked the profile and learned that the finder was from Japan, and didn't show any other logs for a cache in the States. The cache is in a rural location in Central Ohio. It sounded kind of fishy to me, so I drove out and took a look. Lo and Behold, there was his signature. Why only one cache on a stateside visit? Why mine in an obscure location in Ohio? Heck if I know, but it gave me faith in the general honesty of folks. I guess this is just another thing not to get your skivvies in a bunch over.

My husband does this! We cache as a family a lot and individually sometimes. He goes abroad with work for 48 hours at a time so sometimes I will find him a cache near his hotel just to give him something to do! He also might take a TB to leave there or to visit for racking up mileage. It didn't occur to me that the CO might be thinking "Hmmm strange cacher from England comes and does only one cache in Singapore/wherever...wonder if he's cheating..?!"

  4. I use an iPhone and I havent found a way of automatically visiting every cache; quite the opposite, it's a bit of a chore to log a visit of each TB at each cache. So I dont :) But on the website when you log a cache it DOES give you the option of 'all visiting' at the bottom of the page before you send the log. Maybe this feature whould be amended?

I hate looking through pages of visits when I go to a TB's page, so in oreder to add to the mileage, I only 'dip' them in one cache in each area (eg if doing a circular walk they only go in one cache on that walk). And yes I do have them physically with me, because I am never sure when I go out if there is going to be a good cache to drop one in, or maybe I will meet another cacher who's going somewhere exciting.
