  1. Picture #1 : Aah - this must be the caching bag - take me with you Picture#2 : Well, if I make myself small, they won't even notice me here, when they take the bag with them. Picture#3": What? You're not taking this bag, oh well.... maybe if I'm cute, you won't go out Picture#4 : Boring! Who wants to go caching?
  2. This is the event geocoin from the US - April 2006. A great coin that reminds us that events are an important part of caching. Reverse side. And the icon...
  3. These came on line for ordering somewhere between 3am and 5am Saturday morning local time. After a long week at work, and with an event cache lined up for the day - as hostess and one part of organising team - I decided not to set the alarm early. So pleased - I slept late, got up about 8am, and there were still some available. And I got to the event site about 9am with two hours available for final set up. Thanks folks for leaving a couple available for us kiwis. Great - I managed to nab two of each - so pleased after missing out on earlier coins.
  4. I'm sorry, but this gal is NEVER going to do a LET IT SNOW! mission, lol! I HATE snow. The first 3 winters I was here I thought the snow was wonderful. I took pictures, wanted to be out in it, watched it fall, waited anxiously for it. Then I had to start driving occasionally in it, shovel it sometimes, get the kid dressed and out in it, started getting sick of busting my hiney as I fell on/in it, soforth and so on.... I now HATE snow. We've had very little snow this winter and even had a green Christmas...and you didn't hear me complain once, lol! Likely it'll be an "April showers bring May flowers" mission Naomi ummmm - In July it's mid winter here.... maybe another Sunshine mission????
  5. WOW! Is it really that much there in the US? Oh dear, now I'm really glad I had both my kids here in Sweden... I paid about 25 bucks for Hanna and about 40 bucks for Caitlyn, and that was for Micke staying in the room with me! YOWZA!! $3500.... whoa... You're right, you got a wonderful return on it, though! Congrats again on the little sweetie! Naomi Whoa! Glad to be a New Zealander / Kiwi. For residents, birthcare - both antenatal and post natal (home visits afterwards) plus medical care for under 5s is free - well, I guess our taxes cover it. I find it incredible that you are charged for health care and probably pay taxes also. Celebrate - a new cacher geocoin in pink is just perfect for you.
  6. There are some coins out there, that regretably you do need a magnifying glass to read the tracking #. Often it just needs a strong light. Have fun with placing the coin - watch out, as these forums indicate - geocoins are another addiction.
  7. Just a reminder for all. Please forward the FULL address of recipients. For those who did not study American geography, all those abbr. for states mean NOTHING to us. Why did we not study American geography you ask? Well - we don't live there, and our own nation /s geography is our identity. So whether you are in MN, CAL, IL, TX, or whatever letters, our postal service would prefer the full state. Thanks kindly. 1. Participating - Email sent 2. Received Name - Yes 3. Mission Complete - Going postal on Monday, that's just a couple of hours away for us kiwis 4. Mission Arrived! - well, it's far toooooo early
  8. I ended up creating a 2nd profile, so that I can park my collection outside my own profile. That way they are not on the drop menu below when logging a cache. I only have the selection of moving trackables under my main profile. Tidies things up my end. Though it does mean one profile that has never found a cache. I prefer this to a dead cache.
  9. Wow! I just got a trade from Pengos! The hinged morpho butterfly. I love butterfly geocoins - ooh, I suppose that shows from my caching name. This is the BESTest trade ever.
  10. I'm happy to distribute any more you wish around New Zealand. And also hoping to get to Western Australia Mid July. Though these areas may already be well covered by ZorkV & keewee etc. Lovely to see more coins out there. Thanks. Whoops - time out error resulted in double post

  12. I also have a great many geocoins. But rather than having a false cache, I have a second caching profile, simply called Butterfly Lady's Coins. I park all my collection coins there. That way the coins are not on my active profile. It's an easy way to keep stationery items away from the redistribution of trackables that I undertake when on a caching trip.
  13. South Point Chariot geocoin in Gold. Center of one side spins.
  14. Team Chelmo special - gold coin with silver fern. A New Zealand coin with tuatara (living dinosaur lizard) and kiwi on one side with mountains, lake and gold fern trees. Other side, NZ map in silver with blue background and gold rim. Beautiful. Limited Edition.
  15. I love all things Butterflies, naturally. At the moment it is the Morpho Blue Hinged. I have spied them on ebay, but no where else yet. Being in New Zealand, I tend to admire more than buy....... but that still does not limit my collection. Lucky me!
  16. Totally at a disadvantage - don't even follow this sport - not played here. So I pick one team to win, one team to lose.... Oh, well maybe next month I will have a (sporting) chance! Go the ALL BLACKS!
  17. Sure understand this - down here in New Zealand we wait, and wait and wait for our geocoins. I had one commercial package sent from Canada, $6 postage paid that took about 4 months - appears that although it was marked "First Class" or "Airmail" the postal service remarked it "surface mail". Though I have to admit I've only ever had one lots of coins go missing, and got them replaced easily by the supplier.
  18. I would suggest diving and Water Polo. Enjoy your involvement.
  19. hmmm - just found this thread. 1. When you release a TB or coin, or any trackable, it becomes public property. 2. If you have a goal for it, attach that goal to the trackable (laminated works best). As many cachers will drop a TB into another cache same day or soon afterwards, without an idea of a goal, and not logging on until they are next by a computer, then you really can't grizzle. I had matching TBs heading east and west - but both headed west to begin their journey. Oh dear - a log got it back on track, but is it worth berating someone who in their best intentions moved it. It a bit like gambling - if you can't afford to lose it, don't place the bet! If you are attached to the TB item, don't release it. Find something else. TBs and coins are fun, ps.... we have yet to see a RED jeep down here in NZ, someone set one on it's way please!
  20. I once put the wrong # on my coin code, and with a group activation code, managed to activate it. Whoa - out there in the wild, finders could not log it. I think it was a "P" and a "F" that caused the prob. Anyway, eventually got hold of a Groundspeak / geocaching.com moderator, who kindly deleted the electronic coin - if memory serves me right - name of "Brent" or "Brett" - but age means memory not always matching history! It can be done - it has been done. Find an email by plodding through the website. GOod luck
  21. I'm in the South Pacific, so mine always are later than those in the US. But I can tell you that there is no regular pattern. This is mainly due to when they can be minted, sorted, mailed etc. Sometimes there is a two week gap, others an eight week gap between receiving them. Don't panic - they do turn up.
  22. Lucky me.... home from a day's caching, and a big parcel from the States. (I have to buy in larger lots due to postage costs to New Zealand)... Round the World in 80 days - Blue, green & yellow! Neat ones And a grab bag of goodies... surprise. Most of the coins new to me. The mail man was so kind to me.
  23. As a flittering butterfly, located upper North Island of New Zealand, I seem to get about a bit. Happy to place trackables for cachers in Hamilton, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, Volcanic Plateau (where the recent lahar was!) and maybe further afield. Home base is Hamilton, caching takes me to the other places at least once a month. I am happy for those who sell me geocoins to add their own personal ones to the package. But TBs must not have any organic component, including wood, seeds, etc. Our import regulations are there to protect our country from the other sort of bugs ........ tough, but safe. (be careful of the stuffing in some soft toys - sawdust can be a problem.) Cheers
