  1. I agree with the above replies. I think it would be fantastic to receive sig items & would be more than happy to wait knowing the effort that is going into them. +1 I once received some beautiful signature items in a mission. I now drop them off in special caches, or add them to missions. It was a very thoughtful and appreciated gift, which unfortunately I have only a few left.
  2. Email sent: Yes Name received: Yes Package sent: Thursday 30 June. yes - going a looooong way, so economy mail at just $25 Package received:
  3. Got it - and about to have a whale of a time on this fun mission! Darn, can't buy a whale.... so mission spotlight changed! Not even a toy whale, unless I travel to Kaikoura (Whale watch capital of NZ) But, snigger, got even better plan now.....
  4. Neither...... winged creature a la naturale!
  5. Got it - and about to have a whale of a time on this fun mission!
  6. mail sent: Monday 20th June Name received: Package sent: Package received: I have a huge collection; so please don't sweat over getting me anything I don't have; I love all things natural, soft toys, wubber duckies, European buildings, and fun! The recipient of my mission will be themed... (oops! that's the surprise) I've got lots of ideas for this one. Obviously international for me - that's my only option! And great to see a mission that acknowledges trackables as travellers!
  7. Please do so! You may have visited that cache, but the trackable probably has not. As many caches are now far too small for even a micro trackable, whenever you get the chance to drop into a real sized cache, it is appreciated. Thanks for honouring the spirit of travel bugs travelling from cache to cache around the world, and playing the game so well !
  8. With stamps sometimes an error becomes a rare collector's valuable item.... Look on the bright side - the smaller quantity will become rare, and maybe more valuable!
  9. I accept..... that this hobby was a shared hobby with a small community, that has grown. Once a cacher laid out expense on a GPS and most respected the hobby. I accept..... that this great hobby is now accessible to many using "Google" mapping, i-phone, and applications far less expensive I accept.... that the more users, the greater the number of people with disregard to other's outlay will be involved I accept.... that releasing my geocoins to travel is allowing them to become public property I accept.... that at least 10% of my coins travelling disappear each year, through theft, destruction of caches, forgetfulness and just newcomers not involved in the hobby community spirit. Sorry folks, geocoins do go... it's up to you as to whether you maintain a deep attachment to a hunk of metal - no matter how beautiful - or whether you accept that some lost is inevitable.
  10. In New Zealand, this Christian holiday is observed from Good Friday to Easter Monday, making it a full 4 day weekend. Added this year is that Easter Monday (that's today already here!) is also observed as ANZAC day - similar to the US May Memorial day. Dawn services of remembrance - Returned servicemen are few now - but we remember that many deaths from a war that was not our own. So here in NZ, Easter mail does not happen. Easter services start often on Maundy Thursday with feet washing, Friday is undressing the church and remembrance of death, and Sunday full celebration of life!
  11. It's quite common for cachers to perform a little maintenance on the bug. Add something appropriate to the tag if you can.... if not, then drop it into a cache and another cacher further along might do it. Just DON'T hold onto it.... it's made to travel. I have seen so many bugs that the item attached is not exactly the same as the original, but it is still in circulation around the old regular sized caches.
  12. A white rabbit hopped into my mail box this week - soft, white fluffy rabbit holding a soft fluffy yellow egg.... and delving deeper I found Easter goodies - sweets and bubble gum eggs. Some funky wee swag, postcard and greeting card. Oh, and geocoins - Todie's Wild Ride - a great memorial coin, a beautiful dark onyx butterfly coin, July 2010 club coin plus pathtag, also the NGA (Nevada) pathtag. Thanks UFgatorgirl for a neat mission box. That rabbit is great! Love it! And to send such special coins, I'm overwhelmed. Mission complete!
  13. Got my mailed back on Wednesday. Though going Economy for $15 - so will take up to 3 weeks.
  14. Ditto - I did say I was able to find a box similar size, but then I got the impression from WSR that he will send on anyway. So waiting and collecting wee silly items.... actually most of it will be themed Kiwi style.....just hope it does not randomly get selected and sent back to Keewee! That would be a laugh! Ooh..Kiwi stuff...maybe I'll select my BOXES to keep before I draw the assignments!! Bwahaha...If you need, you can send it ahaed, but there is still a BOX on the way to you. Home from my end of summer caching trip (Friday to Sunday, the weekend when daylight savings time ends....) to find a box all flatten out in the mail. Pondering ceases.... now if only I could find a miniature kitchen sink to fit that box!

  17. Butterflies like chocolate too..... Kiwi Butterflies LOVE chocolate.....
  18. From New Zealand, our hearts go out to you - I heard 2 hours after the event, and sat stunned in disbelief at the power of the earth's current shivers and shakes! Stay strong - support one another. Know you are not alone!
  19. Wondering what WSR's budget is? About $1k for postage all up.... and what will the mail delivery think of all the packages to his place? Wonder if he will be tagged as suspicious. Ok - I'm in - just for the wonder of it all. (will add a note to my email as I think I can reduce WSR's costs by $5) Special note - absolutely NO plant material please! Anything organic means it will be opened by customs / quarantine and possibly destroyed!
  20. Can't resist chocolate - so I'm in..... but if you come up with a chocolate free mission then I'm even more thrilled! I wonder what fun I could have with this one....? Thanks for organising it. Sign-up: 26 February Name received: ... Package sent: ... Package received: ...
  21. Pleased to hear it, as - as it now stands it is an exlusive mission. (ie. excludes non- US members of this community from joining in)
  22. GREAT TO SEE PUBLICITY But, a pity the reporter did not fully understand - just as three years ago... GC rules exclude "buried" caches, so the references to "Buried treasure" are incorrect. Great photo of an urban hunt. Did anyone see a NZ herald article over New Year ? - I was contacted re past photos from the article 3 years ago. Well done on getting this into the media again!
  23. Amazing Mike - RIP. He still had time and thoughts towards this mission while meeting his own challenges in life!
