"Smartphones". And I have to say that my BlackBerry wins this fight hands down. ...or a big stick Honestly - I would use a tree mounted hunting camera to get a picture of them publicly urinating on private property then make a poster with that picture describing their deplorable acts. I would then go down to kinkos and make a 1000 copies that I would post all over town. Getting attention while cowardly hiding behind an internet account is one thing - getting laughed at by your peers (and elders) because your deplorable acts have been exposed is something totally different. Besides a picture of the person in the act of will full destruction should be enough evidence for the police to take action.

There are as many ways to enjoy our game/hobby as there are geocachers. If you don't like an activity that others participate in then put it on your ignore list. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to geocach "their" way so why would you wan't to force people to do it "your" way? I define geocaching as: 'An activity that I enjoy doing with my friends and family' so to answer your question: Yes, if I enjoyed "flashmobing" it would have everything to do with MY geocaching experience.

Grab one of those "deer tracking" cameras that you strap to a tree and then set it up near a brand new cache that just screams -muggle me- somewhere in the woods.

Follow some of the suggestions posted here - suck it up and use another nic - or just be full of angst and complain about it here on the forums (like a lot of post lately). Your choice.

Create something original. I've hidden several "regular" style caches and now I've started to think outside the box with my cache containers. There is lots of inspiration on the internet.

Your original post complained about caches that were difficult/impossible to find unless you were in the CO's circle of friends and thus had access to necessary hints/spoilers. If a billion new "geotrash" caches suddenly appeared in my area I wouldn't fret - that's what the "ignore" button (and NA button)is for. If I had been restricted any more than I was as a new "basic" member I probably would have never become a premium member. Less Premium members = less cash for GS.com

Ok #1 - Why is it assumed that just because a guy is homeless that they will be dangerous? #2 - Why is it assumed that just because a guy is homeless that they are a drug user? #3 - Young women? Really? Because every homeless person is a rapist right? Some people should show some compassion (and give their head a shake) before judging other people.

I "find" lots of caches more than once - I'll bring a new cacher to the GZ of a cache that I previously found and let them find it. Sometimes I even log the find (for reasons that are far too wordy to explain in this reply) - doesn't mater though because it's not about the numbers for me and besides the CO's for these specific caches like seeing new logs about how "fun" or "hard" their cache is (I hardly ever sign just TFTC ). I forget my pen all the time - doesn't mean I didn't find the cache or didn't have it "in hand". I put in my log that I didn't sign it so the CO doesn't go looking for my signature. I USED to take pictures of the logs I signed (and didn't sign) but an anal CO deleted the picture (and log) on their cache stating that "it spoiled the fun for other cachers because they could figure out the size of the cache based on the size of the log in the picture" - then then proceeded to accuse me of a bunch of crap (that I didn't do) to geocaching.com when I asked for the log and picture to be re-instated. And remember that we are supposed to be having fun - so if it doesn't detract from YOUR fun then just let it slide.

Usually random - but I'm drying up my local "traditionals" so It's eather random multi's and puzzles or planned trips from now on.

I cover mine in cammo duct-tape - which really helps with the UV problem. I would think paint would help to break down the plastic (regardless of what kind of paint you use).

I use geocaching as something to do with the physically and mentally challenged young adults I work with. I get paid to work with them so geocaching doesn't cost me money - it makes me money.

Gas prices go up - always have - always will. Why is this a surprise to anyone?

Post a note on the cache page - accusing the "last cacher" (even with a "nice" letter) is a touchy subject in my book.

Some people are just jerks. I made an enemy of a fellow geocacher (over the fact that I "spoiled" the fun of other geocachers because I posted a picture of a cache log for one of his caches). He went out of his way to try to get me banned - he even went so far as to accuse me of "stealing" a couple of his (often muggeled and have to be replaced I might add) geocaches when they (again) went missing.

Give it a yank - if it comes up easily then it's a cache - if it doesn't move then water probably comes out of it. Also I've never seen a sprinkler cache that - on close inspection - looks like a real one. The look "fake" to me but then - because I know what they are - I know what to look for.
