  1. I am fast approaching two hundered and I have got three in mind (obviously only one can be the landmark). They are Enigma 9 (Thats if I can round up all those pesky sleeper cells in time) Roman Coin Hoard (solved it, just need to go and get it) Somewhere in Lancashire (Just one coin to go and its in one of my caches. Just need to get it before anyone else does)
  2. Please come and find mine in Bolton Town Centre its very lonely (as most caches in Bolton are)
  3. I got my gps as a christmas present last year. I wonder are there many signs of lots of eager new cachers out and about with their shiny new GPS'?
  4. I have had an idea for a festive cache. A cache dedicated to Houseblingers*. I am not a houseblinger myself but my little lad is always asking me to drive to them. Houseblingers would make great virtuals but of course we can't have them now and the Waymarking site is way too complicated for me so it would work like this. You go and visit several houseblingers and somehow derrive a number from each of them. This would give you the coordinates of the cache. Now the snag is that this cache would only be findable one month of the year and then only in the dark. Would it make it past the reviewing stage? *If you don't know what a houseblinger is look here!
  5. Well done Phil (and pam), (and Rob). Blimey thats two congratulations threads in a month for me. I had better go and sit down.
  6. 1) Rock the cachebar-The Clash 2) Cashes to Cashes- David Bowie 3) For travelbugs - Living in a box - I think the band where also called Living in a box 4)Ramble on - Led Zepplin 5) Under the finger nails - Pig Destroyer 6) Me and My Arrow - Harry Nillson 7) Around and Around - Rolling Stones 8) Perfect Coin-Beautiful South
  7. When I did my Runcorn Calling cache I tried to include songs which had a caching theme. The one I liked best was Under The Fingernails by that well known band "Pig Destroyer". Runcorn Calling is a play on words one of my favourite albums.
  8. I noticed the other day that these Lancashire Geocoins are on sale on ebay for twice the price that John and Brian are asking! Come on own up, whos flogging them? Are you sure thats why you wanted three mark?
  9. I thought I would share this one with you all. Its strange how the incorrect coordinates took me to a berry bush. Here I was 5 miles out. Whats the furthest from the correct coordinates that anyone has gone and looked for a cache? It can happen by typos or as in this case getting the puzzle wrong.
  10. so thats a FF as an FTF on an FP. I hope you are all following this.
  11. BAH!!!!! U beat us to it by an hour! But...Tralalalalalalalalaallalaalalallalalala we found Berries Keyring Exchange that you are having problems finding Paul Ok so we found it before but it was still a bit of a begger to find again. And we got soaked in the process BAH! Congrats on your FTF Lolly I only got it first because Bill tipped me off last night. Usually by the time I have seen a new cache placement about six people have found it. I would have had FTF on your's Lolly (Autumn Falls). If I had been able to find it As for Berries I am going to find that $%~# cache if its the last thing I do.
  12. I always say that you should place the biggest cache you possibly can. Sometimes that might be a micro or even a nano so if thats the case then fair enough. There seems to be an unwritten law of cache placement that the hiding places you find are inversely proportional to the size of the containers you have with you! A lot of mine are smalls and I have found huge holes for them so I want to upgrade them to ammo boxes.
  13. Surely everyone who places their first cache will have someone log a FTF? Or am I missing something here? No thats all it is! I was just remarking that they are rarer than normal FTF's. I might only be interesing to statto's like me.
  14. So thats a first find as a first to find! Thats not what I meant but its still a very interesting one. I bet very few people have done that. So how many FF as FTFs or FTFS on a FP
  15. I got a FTF this morning (my 4th). It occured to me that this was the owner (Bill Seiko's) first cache placement so thats a FTF on an FP. These must be quite rare. Has anyone got more than one of these?
  16. I don't usually read or write congratulations threads. This however is worth an exception. Well done John. My first find was one of yours and when I went to my first event (Enigma) not knowing anyone and feeling slightly nervous you made me welcome, thank you.
  17. Heh , those closet cachers are at it again. This New cache has its FTF as a closet cacher.
  18. Hi I know I have already put one forward of my little lad max with a cache but today we found BlueBell woods and I just couldn't resist sharing this one with you all. It looks like he is levitating the cache! This is the last baby/cache photo I promise!
  19. Actually the first one has hit on something there. I have only found 151 and my maximum in one day is 6. Despite this I still struggle to find time to log them. I do tend to waffle a bit though and provide photos. Those of you who regularly get 20+ in one day I don't know how you get time to log them! Haven't said that no to log them at all is an extreme solution!
  20. I have become aware recently of the existence of a kind of underclass in our geocaching community. I will call these folks "Closet Cachers". A closet cacher is someone who goes around hunting for geocaches signs the log book but does not log any of their finds online. I first noticed this when I went to check up on some of my caches and in the log books there was a name I didn't recognise. At first I thought it might be a muggle who has somehow found it and signed the log as this seems fairly common, but then the same name kept appearing in quite a few of my log books. The next time came when I bumped into one of them. I had yet to meet another cacher whilst caching and when I saw a bloke lurking with his GPS I got quite excited wondering who it was. He told me his christian name and said that he didn't have an user name as he didn't bother with the "internet stuff". He is still the only geocacher I have bumped into whilst caching myself. It turns out that he has found quite a few of them though. I didn't think much of it until I found Old Kays this weekend. The Soda Pop travel bug was not in the cache despite the fact that the last logged finders The Bean Family had dropped it in. I looked in the log and there was a closet cacher who had taken the travel bug. What is the point of taking Travel Bugs if you aren't prepared to go online! I wonder how many closet cachers there are out there? They could have found 1000s of them without anyone really knowing. After a while I bet they find the sameones repeatedly because they can't remember which ones they have done! Maybe there are "Closet Closet" cachers who don't even sign the log book?
  21. Some fantastic pictures here. Heres my faves. Time For a Knapp Aythorpe Roding My son George examining the contents of Get Lost My other son Max with All spruced up in his hand.
  22. Just had my first Double Did Not Find, i.e I went back to a cache that I didn't find and still missed it. It was This One. Its a bit annoying as I am one of 150 and I just can't cross the line. Usually I wait until someone else has found it to ensure its not been muggled but last week I had been a bit dumb and totally misunderstood the clue so having worked that out I returned but still missed it. Just wondering with regards to DNF's (i) How many times have people repeatedly been back to the same cache and not found it? (ii) Whats the longest time you have searched for one cache and then either found it or not? I spent 45 minutes looking for Gorge us view but I did get it. I also searched for Lead Mines Clough for about the same time this time without success but it turned out it had been muggled. (iii) Have you ever not been able to find a virtual, earthcache or even an event? I still have dreams about where Fish at Razor City might be!
