There were 13 emails to you on our server waiting to be delivered to AOL. You're lucky, one of them got through. I'd estimate we're delivering less than 10% of our daily email volume to AOL right now, so your 1 out of 13 is consistent with what we're seeing. I'm not passing this off as an AOL problem, it is an AOL problem. I'll try to be more clear as to our priorities: 1. Improving the performance of the PQ generator so that PQs get generated faster - very high priority. 2. Worrying about AOL not delivering your email in a timely fashon - very low priority. I'll send you a PM with the log entries showing that AOL is refusing to accept your mail so you can follow up with them. Elias
  2. Ok, but did you receive 5 emails from the site between 10 PM and midnight last night (Pacific time)? Elias

All 4 of your PQs for this morning ran, 3 of them within minutes of you creating them, and the last one took an hour. The two you sent to your work account were successfully delivered within 10 seconds of being generated. The 2 generated for your AOL account are sitting on our mail server; our server has tried to deliver each of them three times so far, and AOL has refused them each time. Honestly, this isn't a huge priority for us. When it was brought to our attention, we followed the steps AOL asked us to take, but after that, there's nothing else for us to do. Groundspeak's top priority is to continue to improve the features of the web site, especially the performance of the PQ generator. But if an ISP, even a large ISP like AOL decides to block our email, we'll certainly do whatever we reasonably can, but at the end of the day, its completely up to them. As I mentioned in the No Mails At All From GC thread, we did contact AOL and went through their process to set up a feedback loop and request whitelist status. I was supposed to hear back from them when they processed my request and I have not heard from them yet. I'm more than happy to send you the log entries from today showing AOL blocking our email so you can follow up with them. They'll be sent in a forum PM in just a few minutes. Elias
  4. We sent you 5 emails late last night starting at 10 PM Pacific time; what I can't tell is what they specifically are, but they did come from the server that handles the instant notifications. Can you confirm that you received all 5 and that none of them were the published log you're missing? Elias
  5. I just did this as well... works like a charm. You can't even tell that the messages are forwarded. So what happens to all the old emails that haven't been received yet? All email to your AOL account is sitting on our mail server awating delivery. Unfortunately, there is no reasonable way to redirect your mail it to another account. It will have to sit there until AOL decides to accept it. Elias
  6. I spoke too soon. After 10-15 minutes of solid mail delivery, we've been blocked again. It may have been an anomaly since we haven't received confirmation on our whitelist request yet. Until AOL tells us we've been whitelisted, or until the block appears removed again, all AOL email will be placed in a hold queue. Elias
  7. At approximately 3 PM Pacific time, AOL removed the block on our email. All mail waiting on our mail server has been requeued for immediate delivery. Elias UPDATE: See below.
  8. There was a problem with the notification engine this morning. Its been resolved and all missed notifications are on their way out. Elias
  9. Yes, per AOL Case # 169097610. Elias
  10. We're not experiencing any issues with email other than AOL. So far today, we've sent 19 emails to your Virgin account and all 19 were delivered successfully. I'll send you a PM with the log entries so you can follow up with them on this issue. Elias
  11. We did this yesterday. Ask them about case # 169097610; I spoke with Mildred. Keep in mind that while we've requested to be whitelisted, AOL is under no obligation to do so. AOL is not required to accept our mail, and if they choose not to, there's nothing we can do about that. We're in a holding pattern until AOL decides to accept our mail again. Elias
  12. All domains hosted by AOL are affected. There are others, but the major ones are: aol.com netscape.net cs.com wmconnect.com aim.com Now that you've switched to Gmail, you should start receiving any new emails and PQs. Elias
  13. I think I'm missing something - you don't have any PQs scheduled. In fact, it looks like the last one we sent you was January 29th. Do you maybe have another account that isn't receiving PQs? Elias
  14. We successfully delivered 3 Instant Notifications to you today between 5:00 AM PDT (GMT -7) and 3:00 PM PDT. Did you not receive these? Elias
  15. We sent 2 Instant Notifications to you this afternoon and the AOL servers confirmed receipt. Can you confirm you didn't receive them? Elias
  16. I don't know either. But as of just a few minutes ago, we've successfully delivered 11 Instant Notifications to you today so far. Elias
  17. I've done some testing locally with the Instant Notifications and have encountered some odd behavior. At this point I don't know if what I'm seeing is affecting all of you, but we're currently looking into it. Elias
  18. We discovered a major problem with the forum code that required an immediate upgrade of the software. This update was not planned for or anticipated, but it has been completed. We'll post an update on what happened in the next few days. We performed the code modifications to integrate the forums with the Geocaching.com site rather quickly, so if you notice anything not working correctly, please let us know. Elias
  19. I checked the email logs, and every email we sent you yesterday was delivered within 15 seconds of being generated. If you want to send me a PM with the headers from one of the late emails, I'd be happy to take a look to see where the delay might be. Elias I never got them. They show as sent to fishiam@yahoo.com? Yes, I'll send you the log entries for these emails in a PM. Elias
  20. I checked the email logs, and every email we sent you yesterday was delivered within 15 seconds of being generated. If you want to send me a PM with the headers from one of the late emails, I'd be happy to take a look to see where the delay might be. Elias
  21. Yesterday, the site sent you 10 instant notification emails. All emails were sucessfully delivered to your provider, almost all of them in under 5 seconds. Did you receive these 10 emails and were expecting more, or did you not receive them at all? Elias
  22. All 4 of your PQs today were successfully delivered to your ISP's mail server within 15 seconds of being generated. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you track down this issue. Elias
  23. It must have been your provider. For both the 16th and 17th, each email (PQ and otherwise) took less than 10 seconds to deliver to your ISP. Elias
  24. Gmail was having some server issues around the time your PQs were sent out, and our mail server queued them for later delivery. One PQ was delivered 50 minutes after the site generated it, and the other about 1 hour 40 minutes. Elias
  25. It appears that your ISP's mail server may have been having some trouble. Somewhere toward the end of email delivery, your ISP's mail server dropped the connection, so our server requeued the message to try again later. This appeared to have happened several times yesterday, but each message finally went through successfully. It seems to have cleared itself up, the one email sent from our servers to you today looks like it went through without trouble. Elias
