  1. 512,000,000 bytes = 488.3 megabytes. Storage device manufactures virtually always use 10^6 bytes as a megabyte, operating systems almost always report 2^20 bytes as a megabyte.
  2. You could have tried that handy "search" field in the top right corner on Garmin's site. Mouse over the support button on the top on their site, select Updates & Downloads, and then Mapping programs.
  3. The keyboard on my Cx lights up, sounds like your unit may have a hardware problem.
  4. My 60Cx did show "D's" before 35 began moving to the west. Also, for a little more WAAS info, try http://waas.stanford.edu/~wwu/walter/WAAS/mops/MOPS_ex.pdf
  5. Too bad there's no way to get the .gpx files off the GPS right now (and I'm not gonna buy another microSD card just to get an adaptor AND get a SD reader.)
  6. The "GPS Units and Software" forum could really use a pinned thread about how to create waypoints on peoples' GPSs, as this seems to be by far the most common question there (and we're too polite to yell at 'em and tell them to RTFM or use the search function. )
  7. The compass has to be recalibrated when you change batteries because most (if not all) batteries are magnetic.
  8. The NGS datasheets for survey markers use DMS, UTM, and SPCS. The National Map viewer uses USNG, decimal degrees, DMS, and UTM. Google Earth uses decimal degrees and DMS.
  9. Or Google is using aerial photos too, not just satellite imagery. That just happens to be the correct answer.
  10. Hmm, on my 60Cx it's "GPS SW Version 2.30"
  11. My 60Cx came with a one gig microSD card! Sorry, just kidding, 64 meg like it was supposed to.
  12. For $550 you can get a DeLorme Earthmate GPS bundled with their XMap GIS package and PostPro, their differental post-processing package. You'll need a laptop to use with the GPS however. http://www.delorme.com/professional/xmapgps.asp
  13. 47's below the horizon here in Wichita, and it's never picked up 36 (which the Legend also has no problems with.)
  14. Did you put the 2.50 firmware on your 60CSx? I put it on my 60Cx and am wonder if perhaps that's the problem. Today I left my 60Cx up on a roof with a clear view of the sky for three hours and it never got a good signal on 35, just occasional "blips" for a few seconds at a time with a low and fluctuating signal level. My Legend had no problem picking up 35 at the same exact spot.
  15. Just tried sendmap and yes, it works with MG v6 and routing on my 60Cx. This made me wonder about the licensing issue: Does Garmin really pay extra for routing in the GPS when they're already paying for routing on the computer?
  16. Currently have: 60Cx, Legend Have had: Streetpilot Colormap, Legend C

  18. If nothing else works, it's possible the crystal oscillator has drifted far enough that it can't pick up the satellites anymore. After trying and failing with all other options, try warming it up to around it's maximum temperature of 158 F (without batteries installed) for a couple hours so that the circuits inside are warmed up. Then put batteries in it, sit it outside with a clear view of the sky, and let it try to autolocate while cooling off for a couple of hours. If that doesn't work, you could try the same process again, except this time cool the unit off until it's down around it's minimum temperature of 5 F.

  20. The highway page shows a 3D view of your route, but nothing else.
  21. My 60Cx hasn't worked properly with 35 since it started started moving to the west either. According to the FAA it's not in a test mode and is still good for aviation use, and that the only difference is that it's not transmitting ranging data (so it can't be used as part of the GPS fix.) Apparently this is enough to cause SiRF receivers to ignore it. For comparasion my Legend still receives 35 just fine and gets corrections without any problems. Only difference is that it doesn't get a "solid bar" on the satellite page indicating that it isn't being used in part of the GPS fix. Oh, and the Legend has shown the location of 35 moving westward while the 60Cx still shows 35 in it's orginal location.
  22. The 60C invisibleSHIELD fit perfectly on my 60Cx.
  23. The Legend C's stated temperature operating range is from 5 to 158 F (-15 to 70 C.)
  24. Also, you don't need to turn it completely off, just go to the satellite page and turn the receiver off and back on.
