The cache owner's concern is understandable, although with reasonable up-front research, cache denials should be rare. One way to deal with a similar situation might be for the cache owner to post a note (not a reviewer note) on the cache page before submitting the page that states that the physical cache will be placed after it is posted to the web site, and that another note will be posted to let everyone know when it is in place and OK to find.

Once you decided that the cache is OK to go you should stick to that decision because it is utterly unfair to the hider that you suddenly change your mind and withdraw your approval to a previously approved cache. BTW I don't think the "agenda issue" is real, it seems a made-up excuse to me. There is no fundamental reason why this cache should not be allowed. Jeremy also said it should be listed. You still have the right to reject it but you should have thought of the issues you are mentioning before approving the cache, not thereafter. I claim neither perfection nor clarivoyance, and am proud to say that I am still capable of being educated. While there are some who will stick with a decision in spite of new information, I am not among that group.

Contrary to your statement, when the cache owner proposed the idea to me, I did not recognize the potential agenda issue, which is probably minor in comparison, or the impact that the logging requirement for no "finds" would have on usage of the site's tools by others. These points were identified in mostly polite and objective forum posts. I retain the right to alter my perception upon receipt of new information. Yes, I'm listening. The cache has only been posted for a few hours, and as I told WH, I expected comments. IMO, it is important to let the members of the geocaching community express their responses to the concept.

At my recent retirement, I was given a Garmin eTrex Legend - so I guess we've come a long way since the proverbial gold watch! Anyway, my trusty Garmin 12MAP still works fine, and I would rather get a nice hand-held marine radio. The GPS was purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods for $169.99, and I have the gift receipt. The closest Dick's store does not carry marine radios. I would like to get $150 for it, but will consider other offers. I'll include the gift receipt so the buyer can work a return at Dick's if desired. Shipping will be at real cost by whatever method the buyer specifies. Generally, snakes view other living things in a binary fashion - I can eat it, or it can eat me. Since snakes cannot eat one of us, they would much prefer to avoid us. Trouble occurs when they cannot avoid us - if they are cornered, as mentioned by the federation, or if you inadvertently sit down, lay down, or put your hand or foot too close to one of them. It is my understanding that the great majority of snakebites in the SE US are acquired on the hands and forearms of males with a significant level of alcohol in their bloodstream. You will have much better odds if you can remain out of that group.

Occasionally when a proposed cache page has an issue that needs to be resolved, the cache owner does not act or respond to our requests. As a result, we are left with the possibility that cache containers may still be in place and will not be hunted because the cache page remains unposted. Some refer to this as geo-litter. One such cache is listed here, and it would be good to remove it if it is still where it was placed. As to the ownership and what to do with it if found, we suggest you proceed as if you encountered an unlisted cache while hiking. You may or may not find a way to contact the owner inside the cache, and if you do, they may or may not be responsive if you do try to contact them. If you would like my assistance in contacting the owner(s), please contact me with the GCxxxx number and I will provide you with a link to the owner's profile page. Cache Hider, I am sorry you are upset with the way this situation has evolved. I was planning to post the chronology of events here, and thank you for saving me that work. Each time a log is posted to a cache page, an e-mail message is sent to the cache page owner's registered e-mail address. In addition, a copy of the cache log messages are sent to persons who have the cache on their watch list. As a result, I have all of the e-mail messages related to the logs you copied into your posting. If you did not receive the e-mail messages, I am truly sorry. That said, as a volunteer reviewer I have to operate on the information I have at hand. Recapping, I used the gc.com site to contact you on March 15, March 30, and May 10. In the May 10 message, I asked you to respond within ten days. Thirteen days later, I posted the message here asking for someone to remove your cache container. I do not believe it is unreasonable to expect a response within two months. And with due respect to my peer volunteer approvers, I believe they also would have given up on you by now. Wreck Diver has made it clear that he is willing to return the cache to you. If you choose to re-hide it, after you create your cache page, you can use the link to show nearby caches - that will let you see how close others are to the location you have selected.

Cache in probable need of removal A proposed cache submitted on 3/13/2004 was not posted to the web site because it is too close to an existing active cache. The owner has been asked to either move or remove it but has not replied and has not visited the gc.com web site since March. Therefore, I am soliciting a volunteer to remove the cache container if it is still there. An observation along Carleen's point: I am reminded of living in an area with a neighborhood association, and upon seeing a neighbor allowing their dog (on lead) to defecate on their lawn without performing the appropriate cleanup, the offended property owner promptly calls upon the neighborhood association to discipline the dog owner. What's wrong with taking a little personal responsibility and addressing the issue to the dog owner (or TB owner, for that matter) directly? Why do so many people believe someone else (the neighborhood association, the government, the web site management, etc.) should handle their issues for them? I do agree that there should be an appeal process for use when an agreement cannot be reached.

Regarding Garrison Hill Camera Cache GC6B6, I have posted a note on the cache page requesting the user to let me know their intent within the next 30 days.

I have not experienced delays in log e-mail notifications, and I see many each day. I suspect the previous poster may be correct in stating that the delay may be due to backdated log entries. Over the past few weeks there have been times when it has been difficult to access the site without making more than one try, so people may be posting their finds in catch-up mode.

We now have another abandoned cache available for adoption. This one is located in Massachusetts under the name of Ships a sailing. The cache has a number of "not found" log entries, so what you are considering adopting is really the location so you may replace the missing cache and take ownership going forward. Another option is to allow it to be archived, after which a new cache placement could be submitted in the same or a nearby location. In my opinion, providing coordinates on a public web site that will bring someone to a person's front door is risky. I have noticed that you have offered counter arguments for most of the comments stated previously, but you need to be aware that not everyone who visits the geocaching.com web site is someone you would invite to your home. You need not worry about 99.9% of them/us, but you can never tell which one is that 0.1% person. I believe you will be way ahead to find a good spot for a cache in a public area or in a park

We have an orphaned cache by the name of Geocache that has reached its first birthday today. Since it is located in upper NY state very close to Vermont, I am posting this in the Northeast and the New England forums.
