  1. I have a could of questions on the Garmin Oregon 550... 1) How is the quality of the camera? I'd like to leave my high dollar phone in the truck and take the non-activated (911 only) Verizon phone out in the woods with me. 2) How many waypoints/caches can it load? I'd love to be able to load up the entire metro Atlanta area. Thanks!
  2. LOL....this date is no more significant than others! It's really 11-11-2011. Spoils the fun when you add those pesky two digits, doesn't it? Now if it was 11-11-1111 that would be interesting. But, the closest we can ever come is 2-22-2222 @ 22:22. That is, unless we restart at year 1 like in the movie 2012.
  3. Don't be discouraged about DNFs. Happens to the best of us. I actually had a cacher who had several thousand finds file a DNF on a really simple urban micro (1.5 IMHO) because it was a bit different than most of the urban micros that were hidden like that.
  4. I found a "feminine hygiene product" in a cache I found yesterday. Removed it and tossed in the circular filing cabinet. UGH.
  5. My current "signature" item is a patch from the 2008 GA State Sporting Clays Championships. Having a Pathtag designed and will start dropping those in good caches.
  6. I think a lot of the "trade up" rule is subjective. One man's junk is another man's treasure. When I trade, I usually leave a cloth patch from the 2009 GA State Sporting Clays Championships in the cache. Junk to some, but a rarity to people who collect patches (and there are a LOT of people who do). If it's a really cool cache, I'll also leave a commemorative pin.
  7. Came across a cache the other day that was a magnetic container attached to the underside of one of those big green electrical cabinets you see outside some retail establishments. On the side of the cabinet there is a big sign that says "Danger - Shock Hazard" or something to that effect. I'm assuming this is bad cache placement as those cabinets could become charged if there is some sort of failure of the internal circuitry? Should this be reported and archived? This is sort of the type of chassis I'm talking about
  8. If I wanted to obtain a single trackable number to use on a piece of jewelry or something similar, is that possible? If so, how do I go about it? Would it be easier to just purchase a TB and use it's number? This item would never be released into the wild and would remain in the hands of the owner to "pass through" caches, be discovered, etc.
  9. Or you can just get a tattoo! Or a ring. At the GGA event this weekend we met a lady who had a trackable ring!
  10. My geocachig partner and I have known each other for about 40 years, since Kindergarten. We decided on "Team Deerfield" which is the name of the private school we both attended.
  11. Well, I'm using c:geo and can't find a way to enter multiple caches in advance.
  12. I'm looking for an Android/iPod app that will allow manual entry of multiple caches. A local event is going to provide the coordinates on paper and everyone will need to hand enter the coordinates. However, the app I use has no such functionality. I need to be able to manually enter the coordinates to all of my assigned caches at one time. Any help is appreciated.
  13. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. I don't believe it is owned by the school board, though.
  14. Would it be ok to put a micro cache on a publicly marked nature trail that runs about 200 yards behind a school?
  15. A friend was on a road trip to SC and his StreetPilot clocked him at 181mph. He bragged about it for months and finally cleared the Max Speed after about 6 months.
  16. Anyone have any experience with the Mio C310x? It's going to be on sale for $150 at Circuit City on Black Friday.
  17. Does anyone have any experience with the Roadmate 2000? BB is going to have it available for $279 on Blck Friday and I was thinking of purchasing one. I am concerned, however, that the website says that the SD card slot is only for saving settings to be transferred to a new unit. Does anyone know if it's supposed to be able to be updated to new maps? There is a USB port that is for "Firmware Updates", but the FAQ has no mention of map updates. I would hate to purchase it and be locked into the current map without the option of being able to upgrade to more recent maps.
  18. Post deleted 'cause I posted in the wrong group.
  19. I got a good deal on a CS v6 CD with a guarantee it will work with my GPS. It arrived today with no unlock certificate, just a serial number on the back of the jewel case. Is it possible to unlock it with this serial number?
  20. If I buy a NIB version of the GPS-18 with CS v6, what are the requirements for upgrading. Is a receipt or anything needed?
  21. If this is true, IMHO he needs to state in the cache description that this is a virtual coin holding bin and that the coins are not available.
  22. But not everyone does that, especially newbies who might get excited at the possibility of getting a coin. They rush out to the site, find it's a VERY small micro, and then wonder WTF is going on...no way a coin could fit in there.
  23. A user has three coins listed as being in his cache, but they are not there. All three belong to the cache owner and the coin description says that he is keeping all three. Is this accepted bahavior, to have the coins listed as being available in an owner's cache, but for him to be keeping them at home in his "personal inventory"? This is the cache in question
