  1. Just select no filters and catagory "All" and use the List/Delete Records then re-import the new data. Simon
  2. Add a column to the list display. (list/Edit Columns) put a tick next to the Distance column, then you can order it. You might have to set the center coordinates by either adding a new waypoint with the coordinates you want to use, or Options/Preferences. Simon
  3. Miles for distances and speeds, Meters and centimeters for Geocaching. Although I can do feet at a pinch (as I wear size 12's!). Temp would be in Centigrade, volumes... well anything they are asking really! Simon
  4. GPXSonar doesn't have a navigation bit, but the ppc version of Cachmate does. Simon
  5. If you are on about the GPS receiver, it's pretty good, Srif star III decent battery life, and bluetooth. Tomtom navigator it's self will only help get you to the parking spot! Simon
  6. Just be careful typing in the Smittyware ID. Fumble fingered typing on my part entered a 7 instead of an 8 and now I have to wait another 6 hours until I can correct my mistake! Oh well. Simon
  7. If you have transport, I really liked Grunewaldturm (Die Birke) (GCK9C3) when I was there. Just watch out for the wild boar roaming the woods, and stick to the paths! Siegessäule was just a box in a wet plastic bag full of calling cards so I needn't have bothered, although it was an easy find near a touristy thing. Simon
  8. That's why we wear goggles. I had one hit close to my eye once because I was not wearing goggles during a game. I quickly borrowed someone's goggles after it happened and the game went on. The normal policy is to always wear goggles but it was a spur of the moment game and I had forgotten to bring them. I've been to a few paint ball games over here, actually going to another one soon, and they always supply you with full masks and goggles, and usually overalls as well. It was the innocent bystanders/geocachers that I meant. Thinking of the litigiousness of people, I would be worried about being sued. Be careful out there! Simon
  9. You'd have the police after you if you tried doing (playing??) paintball in a public area even the local woods over here. Don't you worry about getting a fast moving pellet in your face? It's not the taste I would be thinking about, rather my eyesight. Simon
  10. If you have a PPC or emulator there is OS GPS Convertor at Here Works really well. Simon
  11. You could always try MOUTH OF HELL (Oxon) (GCKA76) but I think you might know where that is Simon
  12. I played with the idea of displaying 10 letters and having a button which changed the display to show all 26. As it turned out, the PPC version seemed to fit in the screen OK. Mind you, it could just be the screen on mine! Simon
  13. Chester's Oxford Parks Quest series. Really nice parks with some regular sized caches. I wouldn't try the 'University Challenge' Series on the weekend unless you are trained in the arts. There are loads just out side of the city centre as well. Most are small or regular and have decent swaps. I can second the comments about 'The trout' for meals. Very nice. It's the pub Inspector Morse was seen to frequent. It might be a bit cold yet for the punters caches. You don't want to fall in in this weather! Simon
  14. If this is directed at me I never said that I was storing a track. I disconnect the BT as some software apps don't like it if you just kill the BT connection by turning off the PDA. I'm not saying BT doesn't drain the battery, I just wonder how it compares to the power being drained by a CF receiver? Simon
  15. I think 2 hours is a little short, My hx4700 will last, running Tomtom which is really power hungry for at least 4 hours and I do carry a backup just in case. As to finding a cache, personally, if I have got to ground zero I don't bother with the GPS, I turn it off and look for likely trees/Rocks/Piles of sticks! As to walking, as the OP is interested in, if I didn't have my GPS, and was walking with a map/compass, I wouldn't have it out all the time anyway. No different with the PDA. I turn it on; find out where I am and where I need to go; sight on a land mark and walk to it. As the GPSr isn't turned off it keeps it's fix and the PDA is in sleep/off so not using the Bluetooth or display. Whilst walking I don't need to know that the cache is 3.43Km away, then 3.42Km; 3.41Km etc. Simon
  16. The Holux 236 is great. Keep it plugged into the car whilst driving to the start of the walk. 10 hours use while you are there should get you up and down the hills. and the Srif starIII means locks in most places. I stick it in the pocket of my backpack and forget about it. You can also get a spare battery for it which you can change as an when. Personally, I think the PDA battery will run out of life way before the GPSr. Oh, and I use my CF and SD slots for memory cards so I don't have the space. Simon
  17. If you don't mine going out of Tomtom and back in, try this bit of software. OS GPS Convertor Only does one point at a time but it works well. Simon
  18. Got mine from Here I didn't bother with the proclip mount as I had a flatish space on my dashboard to mount them. I almost got the Face plate with tilt swivel from the same people but as it turned out, the brodit mount I got had it anyway. One is in my car and the other is in the fiancées. Easy swapping for trips. I got the mount from Here Bit expensive as I went for the amplified model but it does mean I can drive with the top down, radio up and still hear when the speed cameras are coming up! Simon
  19. The mounts are very solid and well made. I actually have it attached to their male/female adaptor so I can change it between cars very easily. Most of the "clamp on sides" PDA mounts wouldn't work with mine as the hx4700 is quite wide. They don't have a 5v outlet, I just plug my BT receiver in another lighter socket. Simon
  20. Although you don't mention which iPaq you have, I use a Brodit mount for my hx4700 which I am happy with. It doesn't charge the BT receiver as well but I can just plug that in to it's own lighter socket. Simon
  21. The version number is part of the title on the main screen. I will look in to copy and paste. Hope you have it easier than I did! Blooming Microsoft. Simon
  22. The Royles Have written a version for the palm, see This Thread If you feel like doing a Cachemate plug in for Palm or PPC, feel free. Sorry folks, another version. I have fixed a bug where if the first thing to translate is in brackets, it ignores it! Also if a number for a letter is 0, it was causing the calculation to be rejected. It still rejects then whole part of the sum if you try to divide by 0 though. Simon
  23. Pity the UK forum must be around 35 or so Only found this thread by accident. Simon
  24. That's why I put it mine in this forum rather than Units and software. A limited number and very friendly people in here to test it! Simon
  25. Just been playing with it on the palm emulator. Looks good, and I might just pinch the idea for the front page/multiple coordinates for mine! A couple of things I noticed. If the letter isn't found yet it puts in 0 which could be confusing as 0 might be valid. Invalid syntax causes it to bail out. Now this might be the emulator but (a+) as in a typo, caused a crash. I did notice a fault on mine though which you don't have. Off to fix it now! Simon
