  1. It all depends on the immediate situation, but 90% of the time I just let them know what I am up to. Some folks get that glazed over look and some get real interested.
  2. I once had a stage of a multi go missing after two finds. It also was up in the woods far from where anybody could happen upon it. After a couple of DNF's at this stage I went back up and checked on it, replaced it, and it has been fine ever since. Never did find the original container.
  3. Yep, I agree...turnabout is fair play here!
  4. I found a cache in my area where the cache owner used a brown paper bag for cammo. That's pretty lame!
  5. I actually DID go out to dinner last night just to avoid the little beggers. The last two years they rang the bell so often I didn't have enough time to sit down till about 10:30. This year I split!!!
  6. For all you Firefox users, make sure you have "move or resize existing window" checked in javascript settings under tools, options, content, advanced. I had the same problem for a while and this fixed it.
  7. There is a cache at the center point of California. GCHNQH
  8. Can you keep a cache disabled for that long without the reviewers asking questions?
  9. Recently there has been a cache owner in my area who has turned his cache "off" (disabled) for the winter. I'm assuming that he will turn it back "on" when the weather gets better. I was just wondering if this is a accepted practice or should he just make his cache container "all weather"? I have purposely left my opinion out to try to get other cachers opinions.
  10. Last weekend my friend Zop and I drove 250+ miles to grab 78 caches all in one day. Was it worth it?!? You bet!!!
  11. Exactly how is this "Juba" dance performed? Is there any video so I can learn it?
  12. Yes, I agree. I was one of the unlucky people who spent way too much time looking for this cache when it was gone all along. I was on my vacation and getting a DNF on your vacation is aggravating because you know that you will not be able to get back to it, and finish it off.
  13. My wonderful employer has been feeding my Garmin AA batteries for the last 2 years. I'm not sure he is aware of this fact, but I'll have to thank him someday.
  14. Is there any way to tell if the 6-volt batteries have AA's or D's?
  15. I use the Palm Z22, GSAK and cachemate combo. Cheap and effective.
  16. That log is hilarious!!! Good job CYBret
  17. I was thrilled to see it. My heart was filled with pride. Then I got it again on another hide. and again and again. Cut and paste...... they didn't even look to see whon the hider was. 4 caches spread out over 200 miles of driving. Ouch!!! That hurts...
  18. Edit for wrong quote...thats alright, I needed to get my post count up anyways.
  19. People who can't take the time to write an informative log have been one of my pet peaves for a long time. Especially "cut and paste" logs. It's like a slap in the face to those of us who take the time and effort to place a decent cache. The least the cache finder can do is type a little about their adventure.
  20. Those of us who enjoy the game and wish to continue enjoying it follow the rules because they are there for a reason. The rules (aka guidelines) weren't made up out of thin air because someone was bored and looking for something to do. They have been introduced because of real concerns expressed by land managers, LEO and other officials. To ignore those concerns would jeopardize our sport. We we only get enjoy our sport through their good graces. In the scheme of things does one half buried ammo box really matter? Is it really going to hurt anything? Absolutely not. But if the wrong person finds it and reports it to the wrong person, the ramifications of that one little buried ammo box could be far reaching. It was one pocket knife in a cache that resulted in a county park system wide ban and it was one buried geocache that resulted in the ban on all geocaches in national parks. Maybe that "wrong person" should focus on more positive things or find a new hobby.
