  1. If you get there and it looks bad, don't do it? Where's that little voice that kicks in and says, "You know, that might be a bad idea?"
  2. I swear occifer, I've only drinkededed two! *holds up 5 fingers*
  3. July 15th! (just wanted to say I contributed... LOL)
  4. The only good place to throw down that spare film cannister with a log in it is in the trash as far as I'm concerned. As a CO I do want to know if one of my caches has gone missing, and I will get out to it within a day or two to get it fixed up. Now I realize that there are many remote caches out there and next day service isn't available, but before we go out on a cache trip I do try to look and weed out the ones that have 5 DNFs or the ones that have NM recorded multiple times without any note from the owner saying the issues have been fixed. If someone wants to throw down a cache, they're welcome to do so, record the coords and submit it to the "hide a cache" page for review.
  5. I don't have an updated picture yet but I've seen version 1 of the blueprint and its good. Minor changes and a couple of color changes (will wear my glasses next time when I'm writing down PMS codes). Once its finalized I'll post more pictures. Very excited now, this is so cool turning it into reality. How do you professional coin artists not get addicted to this, watching it become real?
  6. My cute hedgehog arrived today. Its just adorable! Thanks for such prompt shipping and delivery.
  7. I've used a Sterilite edge locking lid container in one of our caches. Its been out since last September. Painted it brown with some spray paint made for outdoor plastics and when we checked on it last month it was still doing fine.
  8. That's awesome, totally love it. Great job!
  9. That would be a great idea. As the devil's advocate though - a lot of people who pick up a TB have no idea what it is, and even less are willing to actually read the instructions on how to log. The ones that have a clue for the most part are the ones here - the ones reading the website, forum, and being involved with others. I cache for the fun of the find, if there happens to be a TB in there, cool - I'll either discover it or take it (and log it!) and move it on within a week or two. I like to think that others do that for my travelers but alas I know this isn't always the case.
  10. So how do you go about finding your caches? Do you carry your GPS with a preloaded PQ, ready at a moment's notice to go find just 1 or 2 as time permits during the day? Or... Are you the type who plans a specific trip just to go geocaching, whether its a trip around town, out of town a certain direction, camping or hiking with a purpose? Just curious! We do a bit of both, I try to keep the GPS ready at a moment's notice to grab a few around town if we're out, but also we like to plan trips on the weekend or on days off to go fetch a few outside of town - got our eyes on a couple with a pretty decent hike on them at a nearby state park for when the weather cooperates.
  11. Keep in mind I'm no artist... I can't even usually get a stick figure looking right! The original: I didn't spend a lot of time making the colored versions perfect (obviously) but a rough diagram of what colors I saw in my head. And in colors:
  12. I'm not sure if everyone's as obsessed and addicted to these cool coins as I am, but at what point do you want to see what we're planning? I've submitted art and color choices to the mint now and am waiting for blueprints to be drawn up. Are you ready for a picture of my artwork, or do you want to wait for the blueprint from the mint? (does that make it a mint-print?) lol --Shawna
  13. That's really amazing. Welcome home DUDE-lebug! Congrats on 9 crazy years!
  14. Just relax and have fun! Its a holiday, enjoy it!
  15. The ones surrounded by the circles are your premium member only caches.
  16. I spend whatever it takes to have a good time, to enjoy the time out of the house with my family. You can't put monetary value on that, but do I feel like I get my money's worth? Heck yeah! I do like to try to make each cache of an appropriate size a little better than what we found it, and the few caches I've placed have had a ton of thought and planning that went into them. Every penny well spent in my eyes!
  17. I couldn't resist ordering one, hopefully it won't take too long to ship from way over there. Thanks for creating such an adorable coin!
  18. Depending on where you're staying - there's a tollway in Orlando... so have some change ready if you're driving yourself and not relying on attraction or hotel/airport shuttles. Having said that though, a lot of the hotels offer these services for free - take advantage of it and tip the driver
  19. Sadly, sounds like any forums on teh interwebz these days. Sounds like a group that if they show up, I should go make some popcorn and watch the drama unfold?
  20. Ok I just googled that - I figured it was just a joke address. Learn somethin new every day!
  21. We've had a couple disappear in their first caches. We've had a couple travel quite a bit. Having said that, watching for traveler logs is an addiction - we have a pile of them unactivated on the kitchen counter ready to be given a mission and dropped as whim permits. I hope yours will resurface and continue their journeys
  22. ROFL - I particularly like the response email address.
  23. We've only run into a few people while doing the searchy-search so far. One walking her dog says, "Didja find it? Its way up there!" referencing a magnetic nano on the back of a sign about 7 1/2 ft off the ground (thank goodness for taller people with me). Most muggles we wait until they're doing something else and can clearly grab the cache to sign the log without the risk of being caught. Other times we just try to look like we belong there.. (though how you actually look as if you belong is beyond me when you're feeling up a fire hydrant who'd probably rather not get so personal..) If its super crowded we just come back later.
  24. The gas prices as they stand right now haven't slowed us down any - a weekend of camping and caching or a 3-4 hour cache run in the morning on a Saturday is still WAY cheaper than trying to take the family out to eat at a restaurant or going to get movie tickets for 5-6 of us.
  25. I think I'd be in geocaching heaven if I passed another person wearing a TB and I noticed it. I have a traveler Tshirt that I wear out when we go caching and to events. I've seen one TB on a car in passing (as in not parked at an event) and snapped a pic real fast at a red light. Turned out that one was an out of state cacher passing through town.. how cool! I'd totally love to go all sneaky trying to write down the letters from a jacket without being caught.. LOL Having said that, make sure its big enough to read without having to stalk you with a magnifying glass. Great idea
