:)OMG :D I hope John hurries home soon.....

John who? Start loading the FJ! B)

We are so there! Do I really need to go to work! Mrs.K said she would go this week if someone wants to drive....

    Can I go?

Sounds like a ROAD TRIP to us!!!

    Anyone?

    The Splashes <_<B)

wondering if camping is permitted along the roads...we think the series could be done in less than 30 continuous hours of power caching...Could be fun...Denice is sorta willing to go this week if somone wants to drive....We are busy next weekend...can't wait to get out there...nothin wrong with a good numbers trail...we have cached in the area of the trail and really liked it...may need to train for this one...

I think they're done submitting them now, and the final count is somewhere around 525!! :P

I predict that a new 24 hour geocaching world record could be set along this series!

Well Shut My Mouth!!!! I had no idea! The pictures say it all! You are Amazing! I am fully persuaded that you can do anything you put your mind too....You are Da Woman! Can I have some cinnamon rolls too?...but I must admit, it is hard to imagine you putting nuts on them...

    What?

Nuts on cinnamon buns you say?

    backpedal.gif

Literally, backpedaling means pedaling a bicycle in reverse so that you travel backwards. In a figurative sense, it means that after you have said something you wish you hadn't said, you begin to deny that you said it, or claim that you didn't really mean what you said, or claim that the other person misunderstood you, etc., etc.

Yes, there are indeed cinnamon rolls on the line now ... an order has been placed for a future date where my supporters will gather. I will revisit this matter with pictures of my achievement. If Mister Kwvers would like to issue me yet ANOTHER Certificate of Achievement following this occasion ... a cinnamon roll might find it's way into his future.

In the meantime, I've been thinking about Jodi and how she makes these incredible cache trails for dear ol' Harmon. I have a number of cache containers here, and now I think I know just what to do with them. Jodi, you've inspired me!

Cache #1 - Hush Your Mouth, AGAIN!

    Cache #2 - I can't do WHAT?

Cache #3 - Are you SERIOUS?

Cache #4 - Open mouth ... insert foot

Cache #5 - YOU want a Cinnamon Roll? LOL!

    etc., etc ...

:) Barrie...I have an idea...lets go in my 4WD with YOU driving and place this wonderful cache series.....

Mrs. K said that she wants to go with you..She is serious...

  5. I was talking to my mom tonight, and heard Jim challenged her concerning four-wheel-drive vehicles. I would have thought you had learnt the error in this path after the Szar Foyo fiasco.

Now, having seen what has been written here, I know Harmon has weighed in, and Cinnamon Rolls / PUD cake have been laid on the line. You know the power of the cinnamon roll! The PUD cake, while less powerful, is still a danger.

She summoned 11 others just to prove you wrong concerning Szar Foyo ... just think what she'll be liable to do on a second challenge.

Proof positive ... Barrie in the Squeeze!

    That should settle this matter.

By the way, Kwver, thanks for taking the heat off of

    me for a while.

    Harmon,

I can't stop smiling! Once again, you've gone the extra mile to help me settle this matter. Thank you so much for watching my back, ol' buddy! I owe ya a PUD cake!

    Barrie

    aka: boysnbarrie

    Barrie,

The thing is that I hate to see you spending time messing around

at the Squeeze when your time can be better spent baking PUD

    cakes.

A person of average intelligence can see that baking a PUD cake

is far less likely to bang up a perfectly good schoolbus as opposed

to squeezing it. ... the schoolbus that is.

Comes down to this ... once you drive your 4WD rig through the

Squeeze, what have y' got to show for it? I'll tell y' what you've

got, just another picture of a 4WD vehicle in the Squeeze. Shoot,

if y' want a picture of your 4WD vehicle in the Squeeze ... just let

me know and I'll 'shop it for y'. Duh.

Yeah-yeah, I know ... the fun is in the doing it with a gang of

good friends. Either way, life is good.

    Harmon

I greatly appreciate your sage wisdom, Harmon ... so much so, that I decided I needed to think this whole thing over a bit more. It is true that baking PUD cakes is far less likely to cause body damage to vehicles - point taken. I agree with you. Where I tend to disagree, my dear friend, is the point you made re: "what have y' got to show for it?" Hmmm. It wouldn't be a picture that I'm after, that's for sure. No, it's something much bigger than that. I've struggled with self doubt most of my life. I'm not sure why, or how, but geocaching has played a huge role in changing the way I look at myself in terms of skills and abilities. I doubt myself far less now than I did just a few years ago. I want to try new things. My fearful tendencies are no longer at the forefront of my thoughts. I'm much more open to experiencing adventure now. So, you see ... I've been working at putting self doubt behind me; the last thing I need is for one of my friends to suggest I'm not capable of doing something. Ten years ago, I probably would have said to myself, "Yeah, he's right ... I probably can't drive a 4WD." But now? I immediately asked him if he was kidding ... he wasn't.

I've been asked by a few of my closest friends, "Just because he said that doesn't mean you have to prove him wrong, does it?" Well, I think if I didn't ... that self doubting would always be in the back of my mind, and I just can't allow that to happen. I may need to place a cache titled something like: "Open Mouth Insert Foot" or something along those lines. Any suggestions?

    Barrie

    aka: boysnbarrie

    Barrie dear,

Well said, you are on the right track and all of us are pulling for you.

The truth behind all of the kidding is that we are delighted with your

willingness to take on challenges. Putting a challenge on you is just

another way of showing that we believe that you are ready and will-

    ing to meet any challenge.

On a personal level I truly appreciate the fact that you and other gals

can dish it out as well as take it. For some reason that I fail to under-

stand I seem to catch more flack from you Geocaching ladies than

most guys. Of course I don't mind that at all except that when I lie

upon my Self-absorbing pillow at night my tears get the hay all damp

    and smelly.

So far my favorite story about you is that day up toward Otay Mountain

when I offered to explain how to identify poison oak to a group of you

ladies, and opened my presentation by saying "Barrie, if you will move

your right foot off of that plant there we can get started." That's the

moment when I gained deep respect for your truck-driving ability ...

'cause you sure knew how to express yourself long-haul style. Shi-ut!

    Your pal,

    Harmon

  6. Recently, I was minding my own business when a friend and fellow geocacher uttered these shocking words:

    "Barrie, you can't drive a 4WD!"

 Hmmm, isn't this how a recent SMACKDOWN Event came about? Didn't it have something to do with a certain geocacher telling me I couldn't do Szar Foyo? (heavy sigh)

I'm not naming any names here or nuthin like that ... but the culprit is pictured in the photo below and is NOT wearing a pink hat.

The squeeze, eh? Hmmm, I don't know about this ... I don't think anyone should be squeezin' me while I'm driving, Skillet! Have you forgotten ... I'm a professional driver! No distracting! Hey, you got a 4WD I can borrow for this latest challenge, Mister Skillet? Hmph, can you believe that silly guy is doubting my abilities AGAIN? Unbelievable, I say!

Ok,So we are driving in her car Sunday afternoon and she runs over what possibly was a small piece of rubber in the road and it hits her undercarriage...What's that? she shreaks looking in the rear view mirror as she starts to slow down on the hightway..It's nothing...keep going Barrie and remembering the times we have bottomed out and heard rocks hit the bottom of our Jeep I utter..."You never could drive a 4WD". She becomes unglued and begins muttering something about how she can not believe I would say she couldn't do something...I suggested that she buy a Rubicon etc but she didn't go for that...I see...now she wants to borrow someone else's 4wd to prove that she can handle it...hmmm

Close, but wrong ... she wants to prove you are wrong AGAIN, my dear friend.

  9. Hi everyone!

I received a couple emails that showed concern, so I thought I would post this update for everyone.

I hope everyone is doing great. It has been a long time since I have been on the forum and my caching has been very minimal. Some of you have noticed that almost all of my caches were recently disabled. The caches are still in place, but some have DNF's. I would assume the DNF's are missing but I will check still check them. I will be archiving them as I re-collect my caches. Anyone that has hiked with me knows it will be slow going, so if you really need to still log a find -- you may want to consider sooner rather than later..

I am re-organizing. I need to buckle down on the exercise and getting back into wonderful game of caching. If you know me, then you know who much I love being out on the trail and jeepin too! I have been so busy with life that I neglect to get out.

Just wanted to let everyone know that everything is good and not to worry about Team Adelos. I am sure that someday we will torment everyone again. :)

    Paul

Thanks, Paul!! I was a little worried!! Glad all is well, and hope to join up for a hike or Jeep run!!

I'm sorry to see you archiving your excellent puzzles! Some are really excellent and although they may not get visited often, I'm sure they could provide puzzling fun for future puzzlers... There are a half-dozen I haven't finished, maybe I'd better get them before it is too late!

So glad to hear that everything is OK, Paul. I was just about to e-mail you myself when I spotted this post. We sure have missed you lately!

I hope you'll reconsider archiving those puzzles - at least the ones that haven't been DNF'd. Some of us put a lot of work into solving them, and have just never gotten down your way to find them. I bet if you put a call out on the forums for someone to help you check on them, you'd get a bunch of volunteers! :)

I am planning on collecting most of them. If I find caches in great shap, those will probably stay -- no promises though. :D I have a bunch of ideas, but I want to do some serious clean up/maintenance before I put anymore out there. B)

    Paul

    Hey Paul!

Like everyone else, I was really concerned when I saw all the disabled caches, and I'm happy to hear everything is okay. Like Linda suggested, we'd be happy to volunteer to help maintain your caches. Some of them are true classics and we'd hate to see them go, including the ones we've already found. At least you're able to give folks the opportunity to find them before you pick them up :)

I guess we'll put your caches at the top of the list of ones to find, and if you need any help with cache maintenance, please let us know!

"I have a bunch of ideas" B) is a really scary thought!!! j/k

    Hope to see ya soon,

    Sue :)

TSUNAMI ADVISORY IN EFFECT! KWVE 107.9 FM http://wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov/2010/02/27/7252...2/725245-12.pdf

  10. It's been a while since I've been about to get out, but I finally had a chance yesterday. Hiking in the snow is fun. The Sleepy Lion was waiting for us, so a 5+ mile hike was the bait to go find it. Only a few inches of fresh snow to deal with, but gravity proved to be the biggest challenge of the day!

Loved the log entry. A very interesting read/story.

I love the look on Jim's face!

    Duncan!,

You're a genius ... an old-fart and donut dispenser. Why

    didn't I think of that?

When I look at the facial expressions on Jim and Denise

it seems pretty clear that they had a round of cocktails

before Geocaching. Maybe that's the little-known secret

behind their huge find-count. Gosh, there's so much to

    learn from Geocaching front-runners.

    Thanks for the enlightenment,

    Harmon

Round of Cocktails? No Way! We gave that up 10 years ago...however...we had dinner at Cracker Barrel just before finding this cache and I had fried catfish, fried okra and for desert a peanut butter Moonpie! nananananana

  12.

As a self-appointed educator I'm thrilled to see such a high level of interest

in the Self-absorption expose. If by chance interest increases, say, doubles.

then I might be encouraged to post my lecture notes for the graduate-level

course that offers sure-fire strategies for optimizing the benefits of pillow Self

absorption. I leave it in the hands of readers.

    Dear Harmon,

I'm afraid I'm somewhat shocked (and concerned) after reading your Self-absorption expose. Perhaps it was a slight oversight, as I know how busy you must be. Was it your intention to leave out the ever growing buckwheat pillow population? I'm curious about the absorption rate as it pertains to buckwheat hulls. Please advise.

    Your PUD source,

    boysnbarrie

    Barrie dear,

Sleeping on Buckwheat is an entirely different matter.

That's what makes y' say "Otay" a lot.

Say, have you noticed that Jodi is more of a grouch

than usual nowadays? I'm worried about that ol' gal,

    yes I am.

    Your pal,

    Harmon

 I had no idea I said "Otay" a lot due to my pillow ... no one ever told me! Maybe twice a day, or so I say it ... Otay Lakes Road and Otay Ranch High. But what does that have to do with pillows and absorption?? What about Euro pillows? What about pillow shams? Ohhhhh, I just got the Otay thing ... LOL. Wow, I'm laughing now! That was funny!

I haven't noticed Jodi being "more of a grouch" lately ... quite the opposite, in fact, she's always a real gem whenever I talk with her. Hmmm, ya think it might have something to do with you calling her "that ol' gal", Harmon?

    Looking for my pillow,

    Barrie

Whew, glad you finally got it about Buckwheat ... O. Tay.?

Hate to have not one but two good ones go by without

being appreciated. Bad enough that "scream" and "Munch

    your pillow" went unnoticed.

Well, you win, I'll put my graduate-level lecture notes back

into the drawer for lack of interest. Now I appreciate how

poor ol' Albert must have felt when he came up with that

idea that time and space are warped by gravity. If y' buy

that then what's so hard about believing that Self is warped

    by your pillow, huh?

So why are you kissin' up to Jodi? Must be some sort of

south-bay thingy what with all of you gals stickin' together

down there as you do. (Just between you and me I think

the world of that ol' gal but please don't tell her that I said

so, O. Tay?) ... and by th' way, you ain't all that bad either.

    Sweet dreams,

    Harmon

 Grouch? ok Harmon....meet me over in the Banter threads...this Congrats thread is for people who are happy and celebratory... grouch...why I oughta....

    Uh-oh.

habu! went to the Lone Pine,California area and found a cache which we had archived because we posted the wrong coords...With just a vague description of where we left the cache..He and a friend faced the elements and found the cache! Hurray for habu! and mamaloo

  13. A few of ways...

    * you can have multiple bookmark lists so you can organize what you are watching.

    * you can turn email updates on or off independently for each list.

    * you can share bookmark lists so everyone else can see them.

    * you can create a pocket query of the caches in a bookmark list.

Each cache page has a section that shows a list (with links) of the bookmark lists that include the cache where as it only shows the number of people watching a cache with no way to see who is watching.

As I mentioned, I dont use them much so I may have missed some.

Maybe I'll pass on the Glowstick Twister Stripdown Mudbath ... yeah, I need to think this through a bit more. Maybe I could donate a PUD or something ... hmmm.

As we remember it not everyone who originally promised to join our adventure, made it that night. Not to mention anyone by name, but we did notice atleast one of the "no shows" is instigating this latest effort. Could it be they really didn't believe the first smackdown was possible, and are only willing now that some brave souls (or is it soles?) accomplished it? Guess we will never know, and it is not for us tom say. (er)

:) I feel it's my duty as an inaugural, original, true, plankowner of the SMACKDOWN Crew to accompany these hoodlums to see if they do it right! :D

Say, I hear that the one-true, original Smackdown team members

will each receive a carton of Moon Pies at the awards ceremony.

    Ain't that sweet?

Good idea to serve as an experienced observer and guide Jodi,

kind of strips away the honors from that misguided Glowstick

Smackdown band of lost souls. I've seen most of them in action

and what I learned from that is that they will need all the help

they can get. We know who they are, there's a Deep-Throat

on their team if you can call them that.

Well, then, Harmon, you betta join us, too!! I really have serious doubts as to whether ANY of us could do it without you, you know... I'm sure the "inaugural, original, true, plankowners of the SMACKDOWN Crew" would say the same thing. The only reason "they all didn't die" was 'cause you were there to save their sorry souls!!! :D

Mrs.K just posted some pictures of the quillo which will be raffled off at the big event! GC225A1

I've been thinking about those who are gonna venture into the swamp in search of tupperware at Szar Foyo. A noble venture indeed...Sure hope someone videos this one. Doesn't look as if the moon will be out either... Where I come from people who venture into swamps have been known to bring a critter or two home with them...Be sure to check yourselves real good.

Oboy leeches, reminds me of a canoe trip I took one year in

northeast Wisconsin. Those critters always got us when we

had to jump out into the beaver-poo to push the canoes up

over beaver dams. For the Smackdown redux the rushing

water will clear out the leeches I fear. Too bad 'cause it's an

interesting experience to accommodate both leeches and

crotch-deep beaver-poo at the same time and same place

... if y' get th' picture.

    hope they remember...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGB1QodBbls
