There's a new train that will take you from Escondido to Oceanside for only two bucks! You can't drive there for that much! There are many stops along the way too....I joined a vanpool to get to work so I can cache AFTER work. Hey..I'm saving! I could put a cache at every stop on the Orange line for you if you want me to! You could buy a day-tripper and jump off at every stop..by the time you found the cache the next trolley would arrive. It might be fun!
who knows...maybe they would even let a group ride free for the publicity...Trolley Caching Tours...I'm feelin bubbly
The bubble burst...We will need to find a way around the legal radius of a train track for a hide rule...hmmm...back to the drawing board...

An event is in the making....Maybe a local tv station would like to watch as we all board the trolley and get off at each stop....What a blast!!!! How many do you think you can hide? Go for it!!!! We love your hides! Maybe John can come down and help you hide them...We are starting to hike more to save on fuel...What a concept!

Looks like there might be a few of us doing the Rawson trail up in Temecula on April 26th. If anyone would like to join us, please post and we'll set it up! Tentatively, there is Team Reid, Canadian Grl, and possibly Habu!. Penfolds for breakfast? Will announce details closer to the 26th. Should be a fun trail!
Robyn & Kathy of Team Reid
Is this 2wd friendly? - I'm thinking about not bringing the jeep. These gas prices and 12 mpg are killing me. Either way I'm in forthis cache run.
Dave
Yeppers! It is 2WD accessible. The Simpson Clan and Grnzoom did it in a Prius. I'm leaving the Jeep behind as well. Glad to have everyone!
Robyn
We cached our way to Rawson Road entrance (GC160DZ) which would be a good meeting point. Bumpy road but lots of fun. There were two caches that we passed because we were not sure our former ChevyS10 could make it back up the hill. Some of the caches will take awhile to spot but the fun is in the search. Ya'll are gonna have so much fun! Watch for buffalo!!

We did the Stairmaster caches 2 weeks ago. If we can do it maybe they should do it backwards...Saw a big rattlesnake coiled up out in the open...Ask Canadian girl..aka Snake Break Dancer
Definitely should do the Stairmaster caches as a warm-up since you'll be in the area. The hike you've got planned is 1200' of up and you'll be wanting to get the legs warmed up before you tackle the climb.
I've been wanting to do these so I may join you too.Hiking Offer to Goat Peak:Turnaround cache: Rocky Peak, GC16WMG in Poway.
Meet Sunday, April 13 at 0700 at end of Quiet Valley Ln, N32 57.667 W116 59.804
Approx 1.5 miles and 1200 total elevation gain (170 loss) going up (i.e. one-way).
Sounds like fun. I'm sure John will want to join you.
What about Gecko Stairmaster? Have you already done those?
Or if you like, do the hike up to Rocky Peak first as a warm up for the Stairmaster caches. The Stairmaster caches are about 1200' of up and you'll be wanting to get the blood flowing before you tackle the climb.
Oh, by the way, whatever you do, bring a camera. The views are fantastic. And if you have a long telephoto lens definitely bring that. Last Sunday, the hawks were putting on a grand show for FlagMan and me.
I wonder if that's the same one that FlagMan found when we, uh, "placed" the Snake Rock (A Stairmaster Warmup) cache...
The one we saw was below the warm up cache. No rocks were nearby...Just bushes and a snake....Or as Canadian girl would say..."sna sna ssss sna sna...snaaaaaaaake!"

If Mrs Chuy! joins us, we'll (us two) most likely only do Goat Peak and return another day for the Stairmaster. Then again, if Goat Peak has too much bushwhacking, she may not want to do Stairmaster at all as I hear there is less of a trail that a way.
Stairmaster trail? We never found one but did come down an easier way. For stage#1 follow the creek bed around the hill and come up the back way. Didn't seem as steep...Going up to Stairmaster#2 is a climb. We left a few markers to find our way down. Beautiful flowers were blooming all the way up which made us forget the "burn" sorta.

Looks like a group will be heading out to do the Sandy Creek Cowboy Caches this Saturday. We'll probably stop for breakfast at the Denny's at Los Coches in El Cajon at 7:00, and be heading out east by 8:15. Sorry for the early start, but we need to make it to the going away party for da beave! If anyone has a telescoping ladder, please bring!
Robyn
OK, time for roll call! We would like to know who will be at Denny's @ 7:00 and who's showing up in the parking lot @ 8:15 for the carpool out east. If you can't make either, just show up at #3 @ 9:00. Please post if you'll be bringing the ladder!
Robyn
We can't make it this time, but have a great time! We will be at the evening event though with everybody.
TA
I'll be there at 0700 but only for coffee, have done them all, but would like to do them again but have to go to my daughters work open house .
We will see ya at Denny's!

I highly recommend a hiking stick. I don't even go on short walks without mine anymore. The one I have doubles as a monopod for taking pictures. A walking stick can be used to poke in dark places where the cache might be hidden, or where a snake or other critter might be hiding.
I have a small hand held metal detector wand. We also have a stick with a magnet on it....

OK, new subject. Some of us while out at Skillet's yesterday were taking about the Geowoodstock event.
So who's going from San Diego and how are you getting there? And plans for caravans, carpools, etc?
I'm driving because I like having my truck, crusing down the freeway with Sirius cranked as loud as I can stand it. My wife won't be with me so I can have it as loud as I want.
I'll probably be leaving Thursday night (on Canadian Grls advice) and going half way up, spending the night in some cheap, sleezy hotel then finishing up the drive the next day - getting there in time for the Friday night meet and greet.
It's still 60 days away but that will go by quickly.
Kwvers! will be driving up and staying at the nearby Thousand Trails campground.

What I want to know is, why are you backing down Diablo dropoff?
Ha Ha you so funny, you make joke about my truck. Ok I stop the Barbie jokes.
Yea like thats going to happen.
It is now 10:01 Pm Easter night and I'm wondering if anyone wants to go out caching tonight...I'll watch for about 30 minutes. kwver Jim

Chuy! a mentor? When we first started caching John would "bet" on Nighthunter to get every FTFand I would "bet" on Chuy!. We hadn't even met either one of them, but they were "famous" in our eyes! Ahhhh such memories. Congrats Chuy!
Way to go Triple Crown..I'm glad I have your # now
Yahoo Kawikaturn..keep up the good work!
Mentor from Wikipedia:
This is the source of the modern use of the word mentor: a trusted friend, counselor or teacher, usually a more experienced person. Some professions have "mentoring programs" in which newcomers are paired with more experienced people in order to obtain good examples and advice as they advance, and schools sometimes have mentoring programs for new students or students who are having difficulties.
Today mentors provide their expertise to less experienced individuals in order to help them advance their careers, enhance their education, and build their networks. Many of the world's most successful people have benefited from having a mentor
