  1. Can I nominate the Isle of Wight as the next least populated with caches? I think there's just 10 there, of which 5 make up a big multi cache. If only I went there more often (or I thought I could persuade my brother to look after them for me), I could come up with some really nice cache locations. Simon
  2. Where? I just had a look around the Mr Men site and couldn't find that... Simon
  3. I knew I'd seen it somewhere... From Eartha's signature: The 4th Annual CITO Day is April 22, 2006. Plan your event now!!! Don't wait, don't hesitate, plan them now before it's too late!
  4. Most of the recent caches I've done, it has been just the GPSr (eTrex Legend), and either the cache printout, or the palm. I always have mobile phone and leatherman with me, but they go everywhere. I've not really gone for long caching hikes yet, so haven't seen the need for a caching bag - but I'm sure the time will come. Simon
  5. I was going to send a very sympathetic email to the seller, but I won't now as I don't want to harrass them. I think it's probably fair to cover the sellers costs - especially for shipping, but perhaps for the amount they spent at the car boot sale. I do believe that the ebay seller is regretting ever touching the TBs, and probably had absolutely nothing to do with the caches goingmissing. I'd like to think that anyone who sent a message to the seller accusing them of handling stolen goods, or even accusing them of stealing the items in the first place can look back on this and think whether an apology is deserved. Simon
  6. Yes, that's me Okay, I got a bit over enthusiastic bidding on the coin, but a lot of them seem to go for about that much...
  7. Fully understand your concerns about setting a precedent. I certainly wouldn't pay a lot of money. I'm happy to return the TB back to you (assuming I win the auction) rather than releasing it back into the wild if you'd rather (same applies to the owners of the others if they're forum readers). Simon
  8. Just to add some comments to this : - Please don't bid against me unless you *really* want the TBs yourself. I intend to release them into the wild if I win the aucion. - Please don't complain to ebay about the auction - we'll never see the TBs again if you do that Simon
  9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=7208155760 Lets hope a true cacher wins the auction and can release the TBs back into the wild... Simon
  10. No point in going there now, Paul... Diamond Isle's been archived Darn you, you've made me think of an ideal place to put a cache, not far from Blackgang Chine. Spent much of my childhood there, and it's a lovely place to go. Shame I don't go back to Island often enough to do it. Maybe I'll have to persaude my brother to set one there... Simon
  11. Got and iPod nano and a Robopet from my wife. Both will keep me entertained for ages DVD, beer, book and smellies make up the rest of the presents. Came down with a stomach bug last night (probably that burger I had from a burger van on Thursday), so I had to miss out on the Christmas Dinner today Simon

    Pdf Printouts

I had a look at this today, as I was printing off a cache sheet. On this cache, the cache owner has added a background image "the old way", and it doesn't come out well on the PDF version - is this something that can be fixed? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...numlogs=0&lt=a4 I'd also like to add a vote of support for a standard A4 (or Letter) printout of the cache, rather than the folded sheet solution that is there at the moment - I don't keep the printouts once I've found the cache, so I'm not sure why it's formatted to go into a folder. Otherwise a really nice feature - thanks! Simon
  13. I've got gpsbabel and convertcm on my linux laptop which works for basic gpx manipulation, but for more clever stuff I'm now running WinXP under vmware so I can use gsak and memory map, etc. I tried gsak and memory map under wine, and neither worked. Simon

  15. I guess I should add then that these are the ones I found within 100 miles of home (near Reading, Berks): White Jeep Travel Bug "Briana" White Jeep Travel Bug "Joleen" White Jeep Travel Bug "Orson" White Jeep Travel Bug "Quenton" One of those is due to be released at 10am tomorrow, near Southampton, according to the other Jeep thread at the moment.
  16. Arborfield, just south of Reading. Originally from the Isle of Wight. Simon
  17. Does anyone have a list of all the white Jeeps that have made it over to the UK? I just scanned through 188 pages of the caches within 100 miles of my home coordinates and found 4, which I've added to my watchlist... Simon
  18. 'fraid I won't be able to make it, either - we're on holiday. (Why are there no caches in centerparcs?) Simon
  19. Has anyone come across any geocaching clothing available in the UK? The two UK resellers of geocaching.com stuff don't seem to do the clothing range. I'd love to have a polo shirt embroidered with the geocaching logo, or something similar... Simon
  20. Okay, I've only found 10 caches so far, but I always print out the cache details, and the OS map fragment from streetmap.co.uk I couldn't rely on just the OS map from streetmap, as there's not enough resolution to pinpoint the location. However, I find it invaluable for getting me into the right area, before switching to GPS for the last 1/4 mile. I certainly couldn't rely on anything with less detail than an OS map - but that's probably just because I grew up reading OS maps... Maybe for an urban cache an A-Z might be more useful. Simon
  21. Has anyone found a way to display multiple caches on an online map (e.g. google maps)? The geocache map doesn't have enough detail on it to be useful. Simon
  22. Okay, newbie question here... Stumbled across my first cache find today. Went on the a nearby cache, and ended up with a DNF. Are there any tips for newbies for actually finding the cache? Okay, I've decoded the hint, which helped me confirm I was in the right location, but I searched for quite a while, and couldn't find the cache. I've just ordered a cheap hiking pole off ebay, so I've at least got something to help me poke around the undergrowth with (one of the logs on the entry said that they found it when they poked it with their pole) Suggestions? Thanks, Simon
  23. Well, I went out geocaching today, as there's 2 caches within 2 miles of my house, and it was a nice afternoon to go out with the family. One find, and one DNF. The unit I've got does allow me to enter landmarks, and show the direction to them. Both caches were in fairly dense trees, and I found that as I was wandering around the coordinates would jump around a fair bit. If I stood still for a while, the coordinates would stabilise back t what they should be. I'll probably stick with this unit for a while, and save up for something like the Garmin Map 60CS. Simon
