  1. Our pitch and breakfast is already booked .
  2. No takers for the camping in Bath (Not A Real Event) before Picnic in the Park ?
  3. I think I should apologise to 'FollowMeChaps' we are local to you but at the time of your request our daughter was poorly (in and out of hospital) so we weren't able to make any offers of help or firm arrangements. We did keep an eye on your profile but could see you had it sorted by the time we were able to extend a hand. And back on topic. Mera I hope you find a mentor soon, we're to far away to help out I'm afraid.
  4. Oh please, please no more puzzles (yet) I'm still working out that one you told me was easy. Take mercy on me, you know I walk around using the word 'Icarus' as a curse. I'll send photos that I have that may or maynot help. Debbie.
  5. Sounds good to us but we would have to be wimps and bring the caravan. Can make most weekends in Oct apart from 6th - 8th (Murphy’s law says that'll be the same weekend).
  6. We're booked in and guess what Andy....we're right next to ya. Sorry mate, it's the only way we can get Joe and Ben to join us.
  7. Well done guys.....700 caches!!! Brilliant to meet up again last weekend and I can't wait to see you again soon. Sue, I hope you told everyone that for 701 you claimed 'The Beast' for the Clan.
  8. Hi count us in. 2 adults, 2 teenagers with attitude and Junio Great Redmondo for both Friday and Saturday nights please. Looking forward to seeing you all. Paul Redmond (The REAL Great Redmondo)
  9. Good on ya Gary and Margaret !!! It was lovely meeting you both at the S. Wales event.
  10. We're up for a spot of camping too. Fri & Sat night I think, I hope this doesn't put Andy off.
  11. Just testing this quote thing.
  12. Count us in, Mr & Mrs + Junior Great Redmondo (if we're lucky the two moody teenagers will want to stay at home, if not you'll all have to suffer them).
  13. Mine have also safely arrived. Many thanks for all your efforts with getting them out it is appreciated.
  14. Well done to W B & Bw ! May I also add how lovely it was to meet you both at CITO and well done on grabbing a FTF at the event.
  15. We had no trouble today booking a space (for Fri & Sat) for a 6-birth family size tent. I'm so excited to meet everyone (I'd also like to apologise in advance for bringing my moody, often rude teenagers , if you get them to smile take a photo. I can't remember what a smile from them looks like). See ya there! Debbie
  16. We really enjoyed the CITO event yesterday, so a big thanks to Dave and all the other cachers involved in organising the day. It was great to meet so many friendly people who made us feel very welcome at our first event.
  17. Well-done Dave on finding a 1000 caches!! Fantastic achievement!
  18. Could the race be on again? A night cache called ‘Hold your Nerve?’ (GCV8YC) bursting with goodies. (Sorry not sure how to do links and Paul has gone to bed so he's no help) Debbie
  19. Have you put a laminate label on the inside lid or on the front of the logbook to explain to people that they must trade even or trade up? I’m really not sure if everyone has grasped the principle of the game. If newcomers see it as a treasure hunt they may just think you can take the treasure. Being left with ‘tat’ is a different story but I can imagine how this happens. Please don’t make them all micros our junior member enjoys making trades and we see it as part of her learning life-skills and gaining a few values. We often have a conversation about whether it’s a fair trade or is it fair to the person who’s placed the cache. There have been times when regardless of wanting something she’s had to leave it behind because it’s not a fair swap. Some of the conversations we have demonstrate that it’s a learning process i.e. ‘but what I’m putting in is much bigger so it must be fair’ or ‘but I like what I’m putting in more than what I’m taking out.’ She doesn’t always see it in monetary terms. She’s also happy to trade something good for ‘tat’ that she likes, which is fine. At the end of the day I’m the adult, so it’s my responsibility to ensure the right decision is made. Debbie
  20. We bumped into a geocaching family at a cache location yesterday who had only made a few finds so far. They found the cache box just as we were turning up. Anyway after a friendly chat, their young son very innocently tried trading 4p for a San Diego geocoin. Although the family had heard about Travel Bugs they didn’t even know about geocoins let alone that they had picked one up. We explained the goecoin thing and they very kindly let us take the coin. The coin was travelling naked in a see-through plastic bag so I’ve now popped a little laminate label in the bag explaining that the coin is not a keepsake/trade item. Linking back to the OP I think this just highlights that many (especially new) geocachers out there not only ‘don’t get it’, but also have never heard of geocoins. I’ve also learnt something from this thread because I didn’t know the original geocoin was the Moun10Bike coin, which explains why it was so pricey on e-bay. Debbie
  21. The cache page warned you not to block the gateway!
  22. Congratulations to Achaos for 501 cache finds. Thanks also for setting super puzzle caches.
