  1. There will be a unique phone box icon. One of two things happened. It either didn't get up loaded by Groundspeak yet. . . OR MORE LIKELY I forgot to send it. Eitherway, it was resent today and should be up in the next day or two. SBD It looks like the icon is already up? At least it has shown up on my trackables list. Tres cool , by the way! All we need now is a cell phone to complete the "phone" series!
  2. I got this coin in the mail yesterday. Cool coin! But I am having a difficult time figuring out where to get the activation code? I have tried all the usual suspects.
  3. Oooh...I want it I want it! I have been to Manhattan several times in the last few years, and on just about every trip we have made an excursion to Ellis Island or Liberty Island, or both! My sister-in-law and I have spent the better part of the day searching the walls outside for our families' names! My favorite Ellis Island trivia is the fact that it has, like, tripled or quadrupled in size since the museums' creation, due to LANDFILL! The historical landmark that keeps on growing! (My other favorite NYC trivia info is that the Statue of Liberty is now an inch taller than when created, because workmen setting her up the first time missed a hole!) I love NY!
  4. I know this isn't supposed to be a preorder thread, but I am so paranoid with all the "me toos" of being left out! If this does by happenstance become a pre-order, or indication of an order thread, please put me down for one.
  5. Um... What about the 2 new ginormous gaping holes in the road somewhere?
  6. Surprise coin!?!?! Today- Buffalo Wings! 2006 Compass Rose!
  7. Thanks for the help so far. I have Marky and Joani's penny, and of course I have several Bikedog coins. : ) I do not have the Smashing Pennies penny yet. I hope I do hear about the logo soon, but in the meantime I guess I should just wok on a design that doesn't include the logo at all.
  8. Howdy- I need a bit of help. I collect elongated coins. I own my own penny press, and it was my search for die engravers that eventually led me to geocoins, and then geocaching (and now back to geocoins again!) While I know it will be a bit before I have a geocoin made (I've only been doing this a few months) I definitely want to have an elongated penny die made. I had hoped to use the geocaching.com logo on it, and through other members' help found the snippit at the bottom of the page about logo usage. I admit I am confused still as to whether it can be used for this purpose. I have used the contact link in that page twice to ask for permission but still have not heard anything. Does anyone know the correct person to address this request to, or can just tell me if the guidelines would OK this? Thanks up front for any help or suggestions. ~gg
  9. Yahoo! Caught it this morning! Peace is restored!
  10. Funny, I was in that particular coin activation code retrieval page activating some coins I got yesterday when todays mail, with the balloon coin, arrived. After that, I couldn't get in! However, I went to work and just got back (midnight EST) and was able to get in to retrieve my code with no problem.
  11. Today I got my Temecula Valley coin...woo hoo! Hot Air Balloons! Yesterday: Nuthin' But my neighbor got my ROT13 coin and my Wildlife Muggles coins!
  12. There is a park near by with a LARGE population of deer, and we also have a resident deer lady who feeds them every day and gets in trouble with the law for doing so. These deer are not tame but definitely not so afraid of people anymore. I have finally gotten used to caching in the park and not feeling nervous about seeing packs of 10 or 15 on one side of the trail and another 10 or 15 on the other side, and one waiting for you at the end! But the first time I ever cached in that park, I was quite shocked when I was entering coordinates at a leg of a multi...a deer had sauntered up behind me without my knowledge and actually head butt me! I screamed and jumped and turned around! The deer jumped too and staggered backward...about 5 feet and then waited for me to, I don't know, pull out a bag of carrots? I love this park however and hope people keep putting caches in it so I can go back over and over again. It is the first park I have ever been to where, if you stand still, birds will land on you!
  13. Haven't found a new one yet, but I found an archived one. While searching for a 7 leg multi about 2 months ago...I absolutely could not get past...I believe it was the third leg. I did what anyone would do and expeanded the search, and came across a Hide-a-Key rock, but it was really off from where the coords said it would be. And I guess I should have noticed the print on it was different, but who pays attention to those things? I went where they told me and again had a hard time finding it, but upon expanding my search again, came across another rock with a cap in the bottom of it. I thought for sure it was the next leg of the cache I was trying to find, but instead it had a logbook and some very small items in it. When I had a chance to research it that night, I found out it was part of another 6 or 7 leg multi in the same park that was in the habit of losing it's second leg too many times! The owner archived it 2 years ago but never retrieved the pieces. I did finally find the cache I was looking for, but skipped about 4 legs in between. I have also passed by a perfect hiding place for a cache, on the way looking for a cache....only to find on the way back that the perfect place had a cache, too. (If that makes any sense.)
  14. My screensaver is a picture I took of my 2 year old nephew hauling an ammo can out of a pile of branches. He loves Peter Pan and Captain Hook, and anything to do with Pirates. One day I decided to take him "treasure hunting" in a nearby state park. This particular one wasn't too difficult and I spotted it right away. But he looked and he looked, and considering he didn't know what he was looking for he did a very good job! He was so excited when he found it, and to him it really looked like a treasure chest! He was perfectly willing to take one toy and put one of his aunts toys in it. When we got home he had to tell everyone about it, and it was all he talked about for days! Even now if my computer is on when he comes over and he sees his picture, he says "Hey thats me and my tweasure!" I will never forget that moment, either! Can't wait until it gets a little warmer out to take him again!
  15. What a nice idea! I think I know what I am going with my extra coin now! Thats a really neat way to encourage people to "let go", too. I am sure there will be bugs, but I wish everyone great success with their coins! ~gg
  16. That happened with my friend' Maryland coin. I can't remember how he got it straightened out, but he did.
  17. I can't believe I almost missed this because I didn't think the Subject sounded like a coin announcement! Even if this didn't turn out to be "the" preorder thread, I am so glad I caught this. I love the idea. I hope there are enough nuts to go around! ~gg
  18. Gorgeous! I love the fact that the back has all 4 standard symbols for the seasons, and not just the season being represented by that particular coin. I think I like the winter one best! : ) Any ideas yet on how much, when they might be minting/selling, and as a few other mentioned...if they will be sold individually or all at once? I hope you plan to make a lot, because I suspect you will have a LOT of requests for more!!! ~gg I can't believe I only just realized it is the same scene/tree in all 4 coins! Duh on me!
  19. Hello- I was wondering if any other NYers have been having trouble logging in at the NYGO site? I haven't been able to in over a week. I thought it was just me, but a handful of local cachers have been reporting the same thing. The message I get says "This Page Cannot Be Displayed/Cannot Find Server" But for a whole week? ~gg
  20. I have only ever found 2 geocoins "in the wild", and they were both USA 2005 coins. One of them I believe is still in the cache I left it in. The other disappeared already (not me, I own one!) I did release one of my USA 2006 coins a few weeks ago. I took the advice of forum members and "disfigured" it a bit...I engraved "gg" on both sides.
  21. Got mine today! GREAT coins! LOVE the dog!!!!
