  1. I have the DriveSmart 61 and install mine using POILoader. From there they are in a Extra POI's and they don't use up waypoint space. I have 10,000 caches in my Drivesmart
  2. You are right those are Favorites but I did not put them in my Favorites. I loaded them using the POI loader and I don't know of any setting in there to added them as Favorites also. I deleted them all in Favorites and the green square with the white hearts are gone leaving just the little red squares. Thank you
  3. You can see two blue squares at the bottom. Those are from another GPX file I uploaded. No green square with white heart with those. That is what is puzzling.
  4. Here is a picture of the green squares and white hearts. These only show up for the geocaching file I uploaded using the POI loader program. I have a few other files where they don’t show. All I want to show is the red square. Any thought?
  5. After a run a query I like to take the GPX file (1000 caches) and use POILoader to put them in my automotive GPS (Garmin Drive Smart 61). This allows me to drive on the streets to get closer to the cache and once close I navigate to it using my handheld Montana 650T (not locked on roads). In the Drivesmart the caches show up as a large green square with a white heart in it. I have figured out how to add an additional smaller icom which is a red square but can not figure out how to get the DriveSmart 61 to stop displaying the large green square with a white heart in it. Any ideas?
  6. Comparing two GPS's (Garmin Montana 650t and Garmin Monterra), two iPhones, and two oil compasses I can't get any two to point to north in the same direction. I have calibrated both GPS numerous times also. I have both GPS's set up to show me Distance to Destination (selected cache), Accuracy of GPS, To Course (which I believe is direction to cache), and Compass Heading on the map view. My thought is if I get Compass Heading and To Course to show the same degree my GPS is pointing at the cache. AM I THINKING CORRECTLY? The problem is that both GPS's Compass Headings are off by up to 20 degrees. Distance to Destination and To Course are almost always matching on the two GPS's Any suggestions?

  8. I have a Garmin Monterra and Montana 650T. I like to know which direction I am facing and have both set so I can see the compass heading. Should I select Magnetic or True North in the settings? I am in North America.
  9. So if I did have 25000 would it only pull up the closest 12000?
  10. I have a Garmin Monterra and Montana 650t. How many GPX files can I upload to them? I am talking about the querires I run with 1000 caches in them. Could you upload 25? more? less?
  11. Planning on visiting Michigan for some Geocaching. We have been to Marquette twice and Port Huron once. Really liked Marquette with the trails. Looking for another place to spend 4-5 days caching where we can drive to a trailhead and walk to find multi caches. Can anyone suggest a place? Upper or Lower Michigan is fine. Thanks

  13. My Montana 650T has a map from 2014 so I used Garmin Express and went through the steps to purchase the 2018 version for $49.95. When it said it was complete (which didn't seem long enough) I checked and I can not find the newest map. Going from Maps to setting and trying to select the new version it is not displayed. I still see only the 2014 version. I have an 8 GB card in it. When I go back to Garmin express it says Software Version 7.30 and Map: City Navigator NA NT 2018.10. But then like I siad I can not find that map in the settings. Any thoughts?
  14. How do you do that? The POI's i'm talking about are the ones displayed in Basecamp, not custom ones.
  15. Is there any way to select which POI's are displayed on the map of the Garmin Monterra? At times the screen is cluttered because there are so many. I would like to turn off ones I have no use for like banks, stores, etc.
  16. Bought several DBK Batteries for my Monterra. The higher capacity ones rated at 2900 mAh. Sometimes they seem to charge and sometimes not. Has anyone tried higher capacity batteries in your Monterra and had them work great? If so, what brand also?
  17. Is it possible to show only fuel stations on the map? If I turn on POI's it clutters the map with everything. All I really need are fuel stations.
  18. Spent the day caching with the Monterra and noticed even when in the clear I rarely got a GPS signal accuracy of closer than about 18 feet. Wondering if there are any settings I might have set wrong or could change to get a better accuracy? Any thoughts? I am in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thanks
  19. After this update I am having an issue with Routing Avoidance. I have gone back into the settings and check to avoid toll roads but it still takes me on a toll road to get to my destination. I have 2014.40 maps installed. Any suggestions? Or an email as to where to report this? It will not avoid the Ohio Turnpike which run east and west through northern Ohio. My Montana does avoid it with the same map version. However my Nuvi 3597 does NOT avoid it.
  20. Whats odd is I also have a Nuvi 3597 with the same version of maps and it routes fine.
  21. Larry, I get about 3 different ways also. Wonder what Garmin would say about this issue?
  22. Just for the heck of it I reformatted the SD card and re-installed the map from the My Garmin website. The same issue appears. It has to be an issue with 2014.40 mapping software. I feel ripped off and I can't trust it.
  23. When I was in Sidney Ohio my Monterra was not able to route a trip back to Rossford. It said "Ready to Navigate" and when I would pull up Rossford, Ohio it kept searching or doing whatever it did and was not able to give me a route.
