Often when discussing features of the website, the point is raised that many of the people who might feel one way, or another about a given topic never actually say anything because the forums are so hostile.
Gee, you kind of set the tone for responses by supposing that this is a correct statement.
So let me introduce another question -- How many folks out there who are 'lurkers' would agree with this position:
(1) the forums should NOT have posts that attack others, use profanity, or include material that is clearly offensive
(2) but, the forums could be more fun if there could be a nice balance between topics that are strictly focus on geocaching and topics that deal with other interesting subjects, perhaps with their own place called 'off topic'
What do you lurkers think? I'm really interested, since the person who started this post says many of you have essentially been scared off. Is it the off topic stuff that you do not like, or just the hostile / offensive stuff?
I view this as an important question, because much of the heated discussion you folks might be observing is about getting an off topic section, not the right to be hostile or offensive.

Hi,
Would anyone here be keen to adopt my "Great Scott" cache in Queenstown? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a4-106f9329a997
I had to leave NZ after 5 years and am now based in Canada.
The Cache is proving to be one of the most popular in the area and it would be a shame for me to get it pulled and archived.
A helpful cacher did clean it up once and offer to take it over, but in my move I lost his/her address
Thanks for your help!

Top of the South Island ( Motueka) Stretch0 is available for releasing if it is any use!!!
I'm based in the UK and have a friend over here at the moment that I'll be giving a travelbug to take back to NZ. Trouble is, she is not a geocacher, so I was hoping to get a contact here who would accept the travelbug (probably in the mail) and place it in a cache in NZ.
Any takers?
The travelbug in question is TB32R21.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi there
We are a young couple in the tauranga area, we have known about geocaching but just started participating in the fun!!
unfortunately we do not own a GPS and with rates due soon we cant afford even the most basic GPS
but anyway we are trying to find all the easy ones
Keep an eye on geocaching.org or contact me and i will endeavour to put you in contact with some local cachers and maybe someone in the same boat as you with no GPS :-)

if you have/ ever used this unit, this question is for you. when you start it up it shows you a few screens before the sat. signal screen. one of them is an address, if found return to, name kind of thing. i have moved since i bought the unit and i want to update the address. is there a way to do this?
i keep pretty good track of it. the laynard is usually clipped to my caching pack. but if i lose it, and by some chance someone actually returns, it i would like it to actually get to me.
Easy for the Legend go to Main Menu Page then up thr top highlight the left hand box and press the toggle and this brings up the owner information any problems send message to stretcho thru geocaching :-)

Well i find that there are only a few stupid questions but many more stupid answers. To many people forget we all started at some stage and need some friendly advice as we develop our caching skills. I have now over 1800 finds and am still learning and hope others can help me when i need it as i try to help others as they need it. My biggest hint for cachers is never assume!!! It soon turns around to bite you. The more cachers you help the more cahcers we have on board and then more caches placed for all :-)
