If anyone is interested, I sell Tupperware.

How many geocachers can you fit into an ammo box?

  2. I should've introduced myself to more people but it was a pleasure to chat with Team Kool Koalas and Marty and Pepper and Kablooey and everyone else I chatted with and didn't introduce myself to. icon_smile.gif

  3. A big congrats to CYBret and family. We've been waiting for this day in #geocache for a while...

And so has Eric, because it means he can (officially) come back, right?

Rattlehead... I have two little caching buddies myself, Ricky (almost 7) and Andy (4.5), and they call it "treasure hunting"...

  5. At the very first cache I found, Sharkie Cache, I ran into coralgeo and Iron Chef. I am too lazy to find all of our logs, but they might be worth looking at because I was really impressed with how they handled things. The two of them had already found the cache and were writing in the logbook, as I recall, and Coralgeo saw that we had kids with us and wanted to make the hunt fun for us, so she hurriedly re-hid the cache for us.

We got pictures of everyone and they're in my log. It was a nice experience.

Other than that, it has never happened to me.

Well, I don't know if I'd call it a serious injury, but I did badly sprain my ankle after finding this cache, and while playing disc golf. Kablooey, Twocatz, and Eug had to help me out of there and I ended up going to the emergency room.

I still enjoy the sport, do not blame Pedalman for his cache, and would never consider suing the County over it (can you believe people asked me if I was going to sue? I was off the trail, for Pete's sake!).

  7. I interviewed in the City of San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services, as admin assistant to the director. If I'd gotten the job I wanted to press for geocaching promotion on the web pages. Well, I still work for the City so maybe I can do something about it. I'll keep pondering it. We have lots of neighborhood and regional parks here and lots of them have geocaches in them already.

  8. I have a cache like that. I placed it at my work (a local government building), with permission. See it for yourself here. I don't tell people I'm watching, because I usually am not, but I did see Abraxas come for the cache a couple of weeks back, and it was pretty entertaining. icon_smile.gif

Well, if you're going that way, don't forget your travel size bottle of Astroglide...

  11. I cache with my kids (4 and 6). I understand that your child is a bit younger but I think it is still doable. Either easier caches, or put him in a hiking style backpack carrier and go for it.

I started off calling it "treasure hunting" and "looking for a treasure chest" and only recently have I started to refer to it as a "cache". The boys have lots of fun picking out small items of their own to trade and then going through cache contents trying to figure out what they want. I just have to supervise and make sure they are not being too destructive or conspicuous.

Also, keep trying to get friends interested. My cousin seemed highly skeptical about caching, but went with my kids and me to a cache and got hooked!

    Good luck!

  13. I have a bug that is trying to get to all continents. Kablooey got him from a cache and mailed him to Embi in Australia. I have no problem with this, personally. I would like to be asked for permission first.

    Just my $.02.

  14. I just ran across this thread and wanted to say that I log my "not found" caches. I think it's helpful to the owner of the cache. I appreciate it when people log "not found"s on mine too, because then it gives me a chance to go look for my caches and make sure they are okay. Any helpful comment or constructive criticism is good too. So far none have gone missing. icon_smile.gif
