  1. And if they go snooping around in your stuff, are you going to let them log FTF on all of those?
  2. When I start looking at my numbers I stop going caching for a while. It really isn't about the numbers. Another cure for this is to go back and find a cache you already logged. You would be surprised how many of those you CAN'T find the second time! Shaun
  3. I am an adult and I enjoy pawing through the McToys.. I am good here thanks. Shaun
  4. I too have owned both, I replaced my GC with the etrex 20. I am very glad I did. Shaun
  5. If I found this, I would take it with me and toss it in the trash. Probably inside another container to prevent a bomb scare in the city dump. Shaun
  6. This is a minor point, but make sure your GPS is turned on when connected. If it is connecting, it should show up as an additional drive. Good luck, Shaun
  7. A quick search on the Windows RT site: "Windows RT only runs built-in apps or apps that you download from the Windows Store." Looks like you may be out of luck on that one. Maybe check and see if your GPS provider has any plans to release their app in the Windows Store. Or I suspect given some time, someone will find a way around the windows store limitation. Good luck! Shaun
  8. It has been established over and over on these forums that fake sprinkler heads in an area with real sprinkler heads is a bad idea. Go place one in the woods! Then all is well... I did run into a cache that was placed under a FOOT or more of wet fall leaves. Was that buried? I tend to think so.. i did have to DIG, only it was through wet gloppy leaves. Shaun
  9. Careful with this one. If you want to do what I think you are wanting to do.. impersonating an officer is a very very hefty punishment in most places. Don't do it! Go caching instead.. Shaun
  10. +1 for this. I have not ordered any of these yet, but plan to. I also hear if your proxy gets stolen they will replace that at no cost (maybe shipping?). Shaun
  11. Force yourself to stay home! Take a break, put the fun back into it. Otherwise, you just got yourself a second job.. and the medical benefits are horrible! Shaun
  12. If activated geocoins are the most important thing in this locker, the owner is not going to make much of his money back. Shaun
  13. Some people don't want to see ANYONE get a break. If someone has an extra GPS (it appears they do) that isn't going to be used, what is the harm in sending it to this kid? Anything lost? No.. it's gathering dust! Anything gained? Maybe this kid will do the same for another down the road. Jeesh.. tis the season. Shaun
  14. Nuvi for the car, iphone or etrex for the find. I have found a couple just using google maps and my prediction as to which tree I was going to find it in. Shaun
  15. I know that name! You are from here! You should check with mrcanoehead224. They had actual GPS put in the public libraries for public use during Calgary Parks 100. I bet you could get use of these providing a much more rewarding experience than trying to support the phones out there. Good luck! Shaun
  16. This is where ALL the trackables go!! At least you were honest about it. Take it and replace it with a cardboard cutout of a penguin and you would still be more considerate than 9/10 of the trackable bandits out there.
  17. Picture 400 of anything. That is a lot... Could you eat 400 cheese burgers? How about 400 kisses from your great aunt? Could you do 400 push ups? Don't discount your numbers! I am getting up around 500.. You want to be crazy? go back and do a few of your earlier caches.. for kicks.. it blows your mind (trust me) when you can't find one on the return trip! Shaun
  18. If you want a spot bad enough, contact the other CO and see if they would be willing to give it up. If you get no response, you are one step closer to a NM log. Shaun
  19. the DNF icon looks like a disabled smiley. Are you wanting to discourage people from logging DNFs? Can't a DNF be a thing? Greyed out icon is usally signifying a disabled thing. The Archive Icon looks like a Bee hive. I saw a cache that was archived due to a bee hive being placed nearby. At first I had thought "Woah.. where did he get THAT icon?" Great.. now it will forever resemble a beehive to me. Shaun
  20. They don't get the fave points around here. In order to get those points you have to create a great cache AND follow the rules. Screw something into a tree.. you are very very very unpopular. Report them... do it. Shaun
  21. I fell into a river once trying to rescue a fishing snag. My shirt was red with a skateboarding monkey on it. the WHOLE monkey got wet. I was lucky I didn't die. You don't need to be geocaching to end up in the river.. I mean its all downhill into those things. Shaun
  22. Mine is 5.7% but I think that is due to disabled or removed caches not getting removed from my list. Not a bad percentage if you ask me. I DNF about 10% of what I look for these days.. that means I am bringing the average down! Shaun
  23. I have owned both devices and am currently rolling the etrex 20. It too has some issues with GPS files and while it does not "brick" itself, it does occasionally load up with all its caches gone.. gone.. gone. These things do feel like running around with a Palm Pilot sometimes. I hope you are happier with the etrex, I know I am. Shaun
  24. Yea, I would probably recommend bringing a backup GPS if you have one. There is a bit of a learning curve and I have been out "in the field" more than once when I either didnt load the caches properly, or I wasnt able to use the GPS to navigate to the goal. You will enjoy it once you get the hang of it! Also, try to find open/free maps.. they can be better in terms of detail at least where I am. Shaun
