  1. thanks J, but i would have saved it to my pc (photoshopped it) and uploaded it to the category gallery. there is not a photo gallery for the category--at least not yet; no marks, and hopefully visitors to waymarks in this category will be able to upload pics. if there were a gallery, would i, as category owner, be able to upload pics just to the gallery, and not to a specific mark? this would be to provide pic examples of what to look for. i assume it would 'appear' like the pics uploaded to a TB, but not associated with a log. alternatively, i thought there might be something i could add to the code to limit the size.
  2. i added quite a few pics to my holiday display, but it was just after posting. i have had no luck editing anything but the waymark page--you can archive things, not delete. i assume that the category will be the same. i would have added some to the log--so the log would have some pics too--but it was not open to uploading log pics. therefore i just added them all to the waymark gallery. see:Loganville HD there is no category gallery either. so i linked to a large pic, and can't resize it. see:Pic Topic
  3. on a note log for a TB, have the additional waypoint section. thus when the football helmet i found wants to visit football fields, i have a place to put the coords, and it could be counted in the distance total (of course there were pics too). it would be awsome if TBs could also visit waymarks--many TBs will/are seek(ing) them and the distance inclusion would be simpl[er]. see this TB: chief scout
  4. check out the sphinx category Sphinx Statues The last pic on the page it too large. how do i make it smaller, to that the page is not as wide?
  5. the sphinx race is on: Mark Yours Here and you Groundspeak guys keep it up. can't wait until the full release (post beta). and anticipate 2.0 will be out next january?
  6. some waymarks allow pics in logs: payphones. but others don't: holiday displays i just assumed sphinx statues. no where in the editing/management section do i see somewhere to change log factors. seems like i am just missing it. i am a PM and knw for a fact that some categories don't allow pics and others do.
  7. with all the conversation about 'in limbo' waymarks, i guess i should point out that unapproved waymark logs are showing up un the 'my stats'. so if i create a waymark(ie: a fountain), and immediately log it as visited. Then go to your stats page nd it appears in your stats. would this log not also be held in limbo? and it would 'appear' when the waymark is approved.
  8. active quarries? and it also appears that the 'fire trucks' guy is MIA too. otherwise it has been quite acceptable. we all do have things in our life other than caching/marking and the internet.
  9. i would buy it (private mail me), if i could get at least 2 copies of both sides, so that i might send it out, and be able to replace it. it makes no difference that i would not have the coin. the price is under $2. why not? and you can do anything you want, as long as it is in the rules. figure out a loophole, and they will close it on you (virtual coins). as far as i know, making copies of coins is within the rules, and prevents their permanent loss. if you choose not to move/log them, this is a personal chioce.
  10. i am thinking that the COPY method is the best, wether you use the cases or just laminate it. this makes certain that your coin will travel, as you can easily just make another to put out. steal my copy, i can make another; steam my coin and i am sol. any why advertise that it is a copy? this makes then know not to go after it. if it is advertised just like a regular coin and they go to the cache to steal it, if it is a copy enough times, theywould stop stealing them. i have invested a lot of time into stealing these coins, but they are copies, maybe i should stop stealing them.
  11. no, there have been no replies sent to us, but someone is working...there was a new category posted a few days ago (back country huts).
  12. what about the pioneers in the east (georgia)? if the pioneers hadn't pioneered the east they couldn't have pioneered the west.
  13. jeremy posted this: GPX string We're preparing a separate sandbox server which will be the place for announcing general development changes on Geocaching.com. Even before the site is up, however, application developers will have the opportunity to get on a mailing list where we will announce changes and additions to the Groundspeak namespace so you aren't caught off guard and can anticipate it in your code. Track this topic. When we have the new mailing list available we will post to this topic so you are notified. Also, this will be an initial placeholder for announcing additions to the cache types and log types on geocaching.com. For example, we will be adding an additional cache type: Earthcache (I'll describe this in another post) And we're adding two new log types for cache listings: Temporarily Disable Listing Enable Listing
  14. i noticed that the geocoin section of the forum has been 'reorganized'. this ha been good, to bring the important stuff at the top. but some of the other important stuff that was pinned has now moved down the list.[activation code warehouse string]ACCH this has then caused 'irraneous' posts. [PA coin: i got my coin, how do i activate it?]PA coin so can there not be an Admin section at the top, for TPTB posts [guidelines, notices] An Important Topics section [acch, shipping method, trade list] and then the forum topics. [this]
  15. yea, what about brasstown bald? the highest point in GA, and they saiy it and the great wall of china are the only things you can tell what they are from space. (that is what my middle school teacher said). if it was a place near me, or somewhere i had been, i too would be more likely to get one.
  16. graffiti is a 'on the fence' form of art. i would say that the graffiti posted above would be classified as art, as it has artistic qualities, but if it is just spraying the gang sign, that is not art. around Athens, we have the SUR13 and Los Primos gangs. this is graffiti, not art. we have no 'graffiti artists' here, unlike NY (for example). how would you waymark the 'el train' though? it is not stationary. and when would the graffiti cross over into being a mural? and according to documentary on graffiti (it is a criterion dvd, can't think of name), are they not temporary? like i paint this section of whatever, and it could stay for ever, or it could be painted over next week (a territorial thing?).
  17. yes 'courthouse' in the name is good, but i am sure there are a few memorial buildings that have courts within them. so as long as you can provide that it is held there, through some pictures of a sign on the door.
  18. they are not categories, yet. they need owners. some have volunteered, but recieved no response.
  19. yes, but what about the vacant ones? just because they are not occupied does not mean that they are valueless. though, they coult not be still operating as a station, but vacant and being used as something other than a station. this was a locationless cache. see: GC4A5A
  20. that it is. and is the key to luring 'muggles' into the 'gps' world. Waymarking opens 'caching' to those that are not able to, and expands the 'caching world' as we know it. and, eventually, you will be able to find whatever you like--tanks, bot gardens, watertowers, McDs, firetrucks, waterfalls, faded ads, murals, living statues, and payphones that accept incoming calls, to name a few--wherever you are [going].
  21. any luck this weekend? i did not go since BigG said they would go. Let me know, i could still go this week.
