  1. Yup, everything is up to date. I just spoke with Garmin and they said the "drift" error is do to the high sensitivity receiver? Does that sound right?? I'm getting very annoyed! Thanks, RJ
  2. Here is an image that is have from this weekend. I was wondering if some could explain my questions on the image. Thanks - RJ
  3. Based on my experience, they referred to your replacement as a "reburbished unit" but I suspect it could be a new one depending on what they have available. I strongly urge you to contact the Garmin VP I mentioned above. I left a vox for his assistant and within an hour I had a call from Garmin and they agreed to replace my CO with an OR as I requested. Tequila..... So they replaced your 400t with the OR at no additional charge. Do you really like the OR better then the CO? I looked at one tonight at Gander Mnt.. However, they had no batteries so I could'nt play around with it. RJ
  4. Charbs....Keep us posted on what Garmin does. I would like to know if they "Repair" the unit, or, send you a new unit in replacement for the damaged one. I'm having an accuracy issue with my Colorado and have been on the phone with Garmin support twice so far. Next step....I'm sending it in! Thanks, RJ
  5. I second that!!!!! Thanks for all the information you provide, along with the other members that help. Two other questions... What is the red circle that's found on the satellite page that is continually moving? g-o-cashers....Where did you learn all that you know about GPS's? Thanks again, RJ
  6. I have WAAS enabled on my Colorado 400t. How do I know if I'm connected to a WAAS satellite? Do those satellites have a specific number for them on the satellite page? Also, when I’m looking at the satellite page, where it shows the satellites in the sky, what does the 579' mean? Also, when should WAAS be enabled/disabled? Thanks, RJ
  7. Software Version 2.70 - Just updated to GPS Software Version 2.80. What is the difference between 2.70 & 2.80? Thanks RJ
  8. Yes, WAAS was on. Yes, I did have the GPS set outside for at least an hour. I used the unit almost the entire day Sunday. I had this issue numerous times through out the day. I'm referring to the Accuracy display when in the Satellite screen. It can read 23' and then it will go to 48' after just walking 10 yards.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I just looked on Garmin web site and the newest update is 2.70 (10.11.2008). I'm going to give it try once I get home. yogazoo: Thanks for the words of encouragement! RJ
  10. Well, this was my second time contacting Garmin support for the accuracy issue with the Colorado 400t. The first time they had me do a master reset. Well, that didn't help. I'm still getting accuracy levels out to 56'! When I get these levels my GPSV & 376C show an accuracy level of 23-25'. So, I contacted technical support again today. Now they want to me to reinstall the software using the web updater. Does anyone think this will help? Also, I was told that if reinstalling the software does not help, I will need to send the unit in for REPAIR! I've only had this thing for 2 months and only used it 3 times so far. Do you think this can be one the units that were first manufactured by Garmin and were defective? Is there a way to get them to "REPLACE" the unit instead of repairing the unit?? Thanks in advance, RJ
  11. Just tried it...worked perfectly! Thanks!!! RJ
  12. I was wondering where I would change the zoom level for caches to appear on the map. I know how to change the zoom levels for roads, waypoints, etc.... However, the only way caches will appear when in geocaching profile is to be zoomed in 3 miles or less. Is there a way to have caches appear if zoomed out to 50 miles?? Also, can you have the 400t show the zoom level on the map when in automotive mode? What is the BIG difference between the geocaching & recreational profiles? Thanks, RJ
  13. I am familiar on how to load the 400t with caches. However, I am wondering if there's a way to categorize the caches on the 400t. For instance, I have caches for different states. Can I create two different folders and move the corresponding caches into the folder for that particular state? And, when I look at the caches on the 400t, will I see these folders and be able to view the caches with in these folders on the unit itself? Thanks in advance, RJ
  14. Webscouter, Make sense. I will try that. Thanks for the reply! RJ
  15. I recently add a few comments to some found caches that I completed. However, I cannot view them one I save them. Does anyone know how to view the comments after the cache is set to found? Thanks in advance. RJ
  16. 4BOWS, That was the problem!! Thank you so much for your help!! RJ
  17. Yes, but only as a basic member. I do not pay for the service (yet). Is this why I cannot view the coordinates? Thanks, RJ
  18. I am a basic member of geocaching.com. I notice that some caches will give the coordinates to the cache and others will not. Do you have to be premium member to view some the coordinates for the cache? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6b-1bea6eaa4aa5 The current coordinates looks like this - N/S ? ??.??? W/E ??? ??.??? Thanks, RJ
  19. And if (more likely "when") Garmin pops out the new and improved Colorado, trying to dump the buggy initally released hardware won't be easy (trust the word of an owner of a MAP60C on this, who watched the 60Cx and then the 60CSx come out a few months after he bought his bleeding edge 60C). You just made my mind up! VERY good point! 60CSx it is!
  20. Will you be using the 400t or the 60csx when you hike?
  21. True, but make sure you purchase from an authorized dealer with a good return policy! Walmart sells the 400t for $480 and you can take it right back to the store if/when you discover you've gotten a defective unit. not sure if this answers your first question but there is a park nearby. it has some very old overgrown gravel paths that not many use anymore. my 400t shows them when past versions did not. now the one problem i do have with the maps is that some really small towns are not listed. not sure if they are on CN 08 or what. Everyone do a search on there programs and see if they can find this town: http://www.wunderground.com/US/LA/Gheens.html i have yet to see it on any of their maps. i have lots of family there so i know it exists. outside of that, i love my 400t. and i also own a 60csx and i think the pro's on the 400t outweigh the the cons. I also see that town using my MapSource ver 6.13.7 So, can I download maps from my MapSource application to the 400t?
  22. Thanks for all the replies. I REALLY like the 400t. Another question.... Where I do a lot of hunting, there are a few dirt roads. These roads appear on my 376c and in my mapsource application. Will these roads appear on the 400t and can I download maps from the mapsource application to the 400t? There's are a lot of times that if I'm in the woods I will walk to the closet road appearing on the GPS instead of back tracking and then call for a ride. Thanks again, RJ
  23. Ok, I'm looking to purchase another hand held unit. I currently own the GPSV and love it. I'm looking for a hand held for hiking and hunting purposes only. I will not be using this in the vehicle. I currently own the GPSmap 376C for vehicle use. I have been reading a lot about the 400t and it seems there are a lot of issues with it. So, I was wondering if any of you can help me with my decision. Thanks, Ray
