  1. I would say that though coins are more popular because of the icon given to the stat list, I personally prefer travel bugs for the diversity of items and goals attached to them. Geocoins tend to go missing from caches more frequently, as well.
  2. C'mon over to the Eastern Shore, east over the Bay Bridge. There's some rural nice walks on Wye Island (Wye Knot?) and in Tuckahoe State Park.
  3. Don't give up hope on lost TBs... This one on mine Passport just reappeared after a year and four months missing.
  4. I'd rather walk a long way than a short way. Just don't leave a micro at the end of the walk.
  5. I was first to find on a letterbox today while dnf'ing a regular cache in Delaware...
  6. One of my favorites is in Washington DC by marylandgeocacher The Silent City (GCQYTG), where you not only find great historical stones, but also quiet tributes like this:
  7. I found TWO caches this morning AND I did a maintenance visit on ONE of my own. That's all I'm going to shoot for today.
  8. What is this Navicache you speak of?
  9. That would be a traveling cache and they're already banned.

  11. Alright, I'll be serious. Some posters in the mega-thousands have a lot to say that makes sense and what they say is worth reading, whether or not you personally agree with it. A lot of others like to see their names in print, no matter what they have to say. I tend to gloss over their threads and responses.
  12. I met BrianSnat at his Catskill Geocaching event a couple of years ago. At that time, I'd guess he was carrying maybe 225 lbs. His pack was probably an additional 50 lbs, but most of that was the beer and cigars he brought up the mountaintop. By the way, since he shared his beer and cigars, I think whatever he says is just about right.
  13. I heard from a guy my brother's friend knows who geocaches with his buddy who went to an event cache with one of the local organization leaders who hinted that he heard from a Groundspeak lackey close to an approver within a heartbeat of one of the oh-powerful-ones that Jeremy said... DISNEY IS BUYING Groundspeak!!!
  14. Try these two hikes in Wales, one up Pen-y-fan and the other up Mt. Snowdon. Pen-y-fan Mt. Snowdon
  15. Yeah! Tests came back negative. No Lymes. Advice: Get on an antibiotic regimen early.
  16. A pack of facial tissues in a desolate cache in Wales... I didn't use them anywhere near my face though...
  17. Briansnat is a liar. (or else he really did find 500 caches... Congratulatons Mr. Snat.)
  18. I'll know if five days. In August, I had a bullseye around a bite-- well, more of a halo bruise with a little swelling around an obvious insect bite. I went in for a check, and the doctor dosed me with doxycycline for three weeks. Blood test was today, so I'm hoping for a clear diagnosis. Don't wait -- I have two close friends who now have chronic Lyme's because one didn't think it was serious, and the other didn't steer his doctor in the right direction, and had over a year before getting an antibiotic regimen. Now, it's too late, and they are both pretty messed up.
  19. Everyone should assume personally liability for the risk he or she takes. That being said, there are a lot of adrenaline junkies who think they are immortal. Unfortunately, they (or their survivors) feel that someone should pay for their stupidity. Even more unfortunately, courts tend to agree. Extreme cache owners should be willing to assume that risk, as well. On a different note, besides the obvious tragedy of a serious injury or death, the fallout on the rest of the geocaching might not be pleasant. I'm sure that Groundspeak has lawyered this out, but would an extreme cache wrongful death suit bite the hand that feeds us?
  20. Yeah right... everyone knows that Alpha Centauri only has 14 planets. Jeesh...
  21. There are two new multi micros about 8 miles away -- I'll find them shortly. About 12 miles away there is a crappy micro in the weeds outside a grocery store parking lot-- I won't bother with that. About 15 miles away are a couple of new caches in a state park-- maybe this weekend, I'll look for them. The rest are within 20 miles as the crow flies, but the intervening Chesapeake Bay adds a hundred + miles to the distance.
