  1. Is there an easy way to tell where I can place a Geocache? I think they need to be 1/10th of a mile away from any other caches to be accepted. But in heavily "cached" areas, its hard to tell where to place the cache. It would be nice to have an online map highlighting the possible areas. Is there some thrid-party website that could help me out here, or is there some feature in Geocaching.com that I'm missing? Thanks.

  2. There is.... but are you prepared to jump through the hoops?

You need the tracking number. You post a "grab" from the current holder. Once that is complete, you can post a "note" at the cache you placed it in and use a "Visited" drop, using the date that you had actually dropped it. The current holder then "grabs" it back from you and everything is hunky-dory.

In the future, don't delete or ask to have logs deleted. THAT rarely solves anything. It can really muck things up, though.

As a back-up plan, in case of accidental logging or placements, it helps to know what that tracking number is. Also, it is a good idea to state in the online log that you placed/retrieved a trackable (by name only).

EDIT: Do correlate the "grabbing" back and forth with the current holder.

But I don't have the tracking number since I already passed the trackable along...

  3. Hi,

I recently dropped off a trackable at a cache, but was unable to log it until the next day. In the meantime, someone picked it up and logged "Picked this up, not sure who left it". Now it is in his inventory, so I cannot log that I dropped it off. I asked him to try deleting the log, but that didn't work. What should I do in this situation?

    Thanks,
