  1. Do you people really think that moderators sit around all day reading every single post? We work, we have family, jobs, homes to run, etc... We volunteer our time to try to make this ship sail smoothly. I rely on what I can wade through, and reported posts from community members in case I miss something. You can thank a sock puppet for bringing this one to my attention. There is a new coin thread coming out every five minutes and I can only read a handful of posts at a time. Now if you'll excuse me, I have dinner in the oven to see to before it burns. Commercial links removed by moderator. I didn't think you sat around all day, but having the link up for almost 24 hours, I figured that it had been looked at and approved..... I think we all appreciate the hard work you folks are doing here, it's just that the rules are a little foggy right now, and until we get some clear guidelines, there will be some issues. If you guys need some additional help, I'm sure some of the more seasoned patrons of this board would step up to the plate. Just ask! I sure hope you didn't burn your dinner over something as silly as a geocoin discussion.

    Clarification

I agree with the post about allowing any link, commercial or not. After all, this is a geocoins discussion group, not a "personal geocoin only" discussion group, or a "non-commercial geocoin" discussion group. I don't think they should allow blanketed "come buy all my coins" in here, but offering a specific coin for sale, I'm all for it. It's all about SHARING the information. I don't see how it could affect Groundspeak in the negative to let a post go that says "if you want the new xyz coin go to www.blahblah.com" (whether GS profits from it or not...) Same goes for the E* place, but let's choose our battles one at a time.
  3. well, that pretty much closes this thread! goodnight everybody! You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!
  4. $17.00 -it does sound a little steep. Maybe Ill sell some coins for $150.00 each,,, hey, I only have to sell 3 to recoup my investment!
  5. you mean like the "Agustus Gloop House"?
  6. The coin store does have a handeling fee, which is included in the S&H price. This fee goes to the store and not the coin owner. From what I understand, the store charges $2 per order (should be able order up to 10 coins per order for same $2 fee). This store mails out all the coins to the buyers. This store can handle the sale of the coin from design, to communications with the minter, to the sale and delivery of the coin -- as well as any refunds for items lost or damaged in the mail. The $2 per order is what the store charges for these services. so what your saying is that the Geocoin store IS a commercial entity, hmmm,, but the moderators allow the post to stand as it is? Hmm... maybe because Groundspeak is getting $1.50 per coin?
  7. I don't mean to cause trouble, I was just curious as I have a friend that is ready to release a coin also.
  8. I am curious on the rules for posting links to coins for sale, are commercial sites not allowed? (is the Geocoin store considered a commercial site?)
  9. what qualifies it as a business? Release 3 coins a month? 2 coins? There are lots of people making coins and profiting without a "business" name. I can see this series is going to be poular, maybe minting 500-1000 "sets"... do you think Groundspeak will say no to $1.50 per tracking number/coin on that one?
  10. yeah, but he's purchasing tracking numbers from them, that makes everything beautiful!
  11. Well, this is the geocoin discussion forum... One has already been created and it is here. But it looks like everyone can't get along so its going downhill and quick... I think what Hirlas meant was that he thinks it's time to move geocoin discussions to a Geocoin Forum hosted somewhere other than in Groundspeaks Forums. The thought had crossed my mind to suggest it but I'm sure it's a big no-no in the eyes of TPTB so I didn't untill I saw his post. actually, it was sarcasm, pure and simple....... what I meant was it was funny you couldn't discuss where a geocoin was being sold in a geocoin discussion forum..... However, I do stand by my comment of Groundspeak can do whatever they wish, we are guests of their message board, and must abide by their rules.....
  12. I'm not a huge fan of the virtual coin thing. So if I meet you on the street, get some info from you and "hold" your coin for 2 seconds, I can log it as a find?
  13. beat him at his own game, log it as a find without ever going near it.
  14. I think they should start a new forum just for Geocoin discussion......
  15. -Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
  16. it's kinda like defining pornography,,, "I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it!"
  17. you mean like $1.50 per tracking number? Well, it is their site so they can do as they please. I would also like to recommend that everytime the word "ebay" appears, it gets filtered to "they who cannot be mentioned" ... kinda like Voldamort in Harry Potter.
  18. I just ordered 1000 of these for bushwackin' schmo...
  19. Adobe Photoshop..... learned by book, and playing around,,,,
  20. wouldn't that also be classified as a "plumber's coin"???? sheesh..... I screamed, and now my eyes hurt.....
  21. very nice! That's the beauty of making your own coin, it can reflect the mood of the cacher. I'd buy/trade one.
  22. yeah,,,, trackable..... (with a phone number!)
