I thought the original geocoins were a signature item left by a cacher. I don't believe the first coins were trackable. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. GS has taken the coin, turned it into a trackable item, and now competes with the TB's. I have some great coins that I got by personal trades that have nothing to do with geocaching, (they do mention it somewhere on the coin) but reflect the cacher's name or personality. That's what I love about the personal coins, they are just that..... In regards to your non-trackable comment, I'd like to see how many of a trackable coin actually leaves the hands of the geocacher, I bet the percentage is quite low...... as a collector, I don't even register them, so there was a few $1.50 wasted.....

I think what everyone if forgetting here is that the 100 or so they're keeping for trades and caches are being paid for by the other 400. So if you have a coin that costs $6.50 or $7.00 from the minter and need to pay for 100 for yourself so they're free, you'll end up with a substantially higher priced coin. I usually just do a little quick math... lets say he paid $7.00 per coin from the minter (which sounds pretty high) multiply by 500 coins is.. $3500 he paid... then he's charging $12.95 per coin x 500 = $6475 (not including shipping) hmmm... yeah he got his 100 coins paid for and then some..... I'm not complaining, I didn't buy one. He did extremely well and I tip my hat to him. I also believe if he had charged $25.00 per coin, you'd still see people messaging... "paypal sent!" you should be saying ca$he on!

Why do I get the feeling that we'll soon see these coins on Ebay Kidding! Any monies I get from selling any of these coins will be going right back into coins. I said reducing not getting out. I don't need the money for medical reasons...Just to buy more coins. Team Sand Dollar I will be selling one of my kidneys to help pay for the coins I am collecting! I have slowed down though, I am only buying coins on the days that end in "y" I may buy that kidney. Me and -Hawk- are gonna go brew some beer next week.
