  1. Also, don't be too secretive about what this national youth org is. What is it Where are you? Local orgs might be able to help the easiest.
  2. I haven't been able to watch is yet, and I didn't know it was going to air. Yesterday I was in the lunch room and nearly choked on my sandwich. Instead a literally shouted "Holy crap!" and pointed. haha. Had to watch it via closed captioning, but it looked good An EXCELLENT suprise for my lunchtime.
  3. I've gotten 6-10 emails over the last couple years from people who have found random caches with stash notes that mention MiGO. So they're useful. Not sure if they save them all, but it's like a seat belt to me. They could save your cache's life - why not use one?
  4. Can't vouch for everywhere, but around this area, that's what we do. (Michigan) Take one, leave one. Kind of a made-up economy. If there's a cooler one, you might leave two of yours in trade. I think of it like baseball cards.
  5. Just make signature cards (business cards with your own unique design) and trade them only. You don't need to trade stuff. Personally, I value these cards above anything else in a cache. I love collecting them. Costs only pennies per card to make them yourself or you can look into a publishing service.
  6. Our state parks in MI have decided to charge a fee for the placement of a cache. The result has been the loss of at least 20 times the value of the placement fees in entry fees from seekers. We're working on this with them. So far most of the other "big guys" here have embraced it openly, but do require free permits just so they can monitor up-front where they are going. It's a very small hoop to just through really, it works out well for all involved.
  7. what robert said. I purchased a zip--> coord database for MiGO for a whopping $5. Just go a google search.
  8. Is custom icon support planned for GSAK/Babel? Just curious.
  9. I get a fair amount of watchlist emails for caches I no longer want to watch. I'm not that good at going and removing them. Any chance we could add a link to those emails that you could just click and take the cache off your watchlist?
  10. Reading the site from their profile link, they hit the road to travel the world apparently in Mid-july. They last checked gc.com on 9/8 so drop them an email. http://www.helixorbit.com/travel/
  11. The cache was never approved. It was a cache placed for 2 days only in honor of this guy's garage sale. The owner of the cache is at this link: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=48...95-447445c47322 Have you sent them an email? Their response to the archive note was that they thought it would be a fun way to get the bugs on the road. You might just need to drop them a line. I don't know them and don't think they're a MiGO member or I could try harder to track them down.

    Pip's Party

We were reminded that Indiana is currently an hour behind us (Michigan) so the 8am start there is 9am for us eastern timers. That makes the day a little less early Yay! Pip and I have exchanged digits. We plan on rolling in (4) about the time of the event but reserve the right to be a little late. How long do you guys expect to be at the restaurant? An hour? Less? More? Rock on!
  13. What's the cache page? Congrats on getting out there!
  14. I'll second that. I noticed a continuous improvement over the last two weeks. Hi5!
  15. What's wrong with using Pocket Queries? I think that was a great suggestion. Just set up a pocket query of your owned caches (two I guess if you have more than 500) and use that to manage your list offline. Then you can link from something like GSAK straight to the cache pages.
  16. If you roll up 10 emails into one, it takes just as long on dialup to download the 10 as it does the one. If you're filling a 2GB email box every week with watches, I think it's time to thin out them watches Each watch is about 3k in size on my end. That means you get almost 70,000 watch emails a week? hehe. 10,000 a day? Holy camoly. Anyway Rather than a digest feature here, I'd suggest using filters on your end to put all your watches into their own folders. Should be pretty easy to do.
  17. I had filtered down my set of waypoints using GSAK. I was looking to output it and include the date that GSAK derives. I actually didn't even need to load it into excel. I wanted a hyperlinked list of caches that would take me to their cache page. Since the output for the HTML is programatic and the format for the GC number is standard, I was able to very quickly write a macro in textpad to add in the urls for me. I hate the HTML office generates. This was a much cleaner solution. I tried importing it into Access before posting, but the last found date was not brought in for some reason.
  18. dude that rocks! That's better than what I was going to do actually. THANKS! I have an option in export for GPSBabel Custom Export. Thought I could do some kind of babel template for what I'm looking for. But this is way better for my purposes.

    Pip's Party

If you post it... they will come. The event includes an after-caching gathering, so I think it qualifies. I think that should definitely be in the plans Can't drive down to IN and not have a brew or two with the locals!

    Pip's Party

Victorymike is going to come down with me on Sunday probably. (Still to confirm, but we discussed carpooling) I hear that some Ohioans are interested in coming also. So - we going to post this as a real event or what? Looks like there'll be a decent crowd showing.
  21. I need to export a simple (data-wise) set of information about some caches from GSAK. I only need: -Cache name -Owner -Diff -Terr -URL to cache page -Date last found -Preferably type, but this isn't a must I can't seem to get date last found to show up in my exports of any kind. CSV would be fine. I played with the custom export but and not enough of a guru to get it to do what I want. I am thinking I need some kind of babel template to output a delimited file with this information. If anyone can point me to something like what i'm looking for or provide an example I would be much appreciative. Thanks!

    Pip's Party

Saturdays are out for me for the foreseeable future. I'll be making an exception to that for the MiGO Fall Fun Day in early Oct. but otherwise, Sundays are going to be it for me. If I can, I might try to make it a two-for that weekend and hit the IN-GEO picnic. It's about 2x as far but if I'm free - have GPS, will travel.
  23. if you post the pro on the MiGO site, I believe you will sell it very quickly. And avoid the ebay hassle/fees. That's how I sold my legend. And it's not that I have no love for the Magellan units. It's just I think Garmin is better If a Magellan came along that I liked more than a Garmin - I'd say so.
