  4. I love using the Palm to grab a chuck of geocaching infromation, cache descriptions, logs and notes so that I avoid printing out tons of use once paper. The palm has been used massively in the last couple of months for this. The use of the oft mentioned palmable data is key On ce I got the connector cable for between the plam and my etrex things really got rocking. I can use the plam as a tracklog keeper, a differnt gps gui and as a holder for data that wont fit in the gps. ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org

Dawn (about 36 weeks in) got about 1/2 the way there and decided she better head back to the van. It was hot and humid and she knows best the limits she can push her muscles to. The kids and I finsihed the run and Dawn played basestation over the FRS. We are planning on going back with the newborn once the weather cools down. Its a great cache. -tom ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org

We are due July 29th and on my next trip over I am going to scout out a place to put down a geo cache so that my wife, if shee needs to, can walk to it while doing that "longest walk" of labor thing. OF course there is always the Mt Talbert cache to do that is close by but somehow I dont hink she is into that much of a hike. Check out the geocaches we have done recently on our user page. Dawns done most of them. The last couple though she has been more into playing basestation in the van:)- ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org

  8. My wife is like a freaking Iron Chef CrockPot. She cooks stuff of such mouth watering flavor in those dadgum little things I almost want to get her on FoodTv. Im more the JunkYardWarrior of cooking though I have been known to Iron Chef a tofu dish or three. Does Alton Brown geocache and could we get him to the NW?- -tom ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org

  10. First off, before I ramble on some, here are some URLs that contain infromation on warchalking, complete with active discourse on the legal vs nonlegal ways to use it....... http://www.blackbeltjones.com/warchalking/ http://www.freenetworks.org/ http://www.personaltelco.net/ Now, on witht he ramble..................... Pretty much anything can be misused and abused, this is true. You can geocache on private lands, you can wreck a really nice ecosystem by trampling thru it with a few hundred electronic devices strapped to your body as you look for a Happy Meal Cache, heck you can walk around a crowded neighborhood with your cordless phone and probably get free calls by finding a nearby base that thinks you its phone. But hopefully folks will use things not to wreck a thing but to explore it, educate themselves about it, and leave it as (or better) than they found it. Most folks here wouldnt trample down a nice ecosystem or scam phone calls, nor do I think will most folks here warchalk to scam net connections either. Those that will , will; thats thier karma. But for the rest of us its a chance at even more exploration, education and expansion, the three E's of a truly goodtime- SO sure, be aware of your surrounding, this holds true wether tis about the local laws of the land your caching on or the networks your using, but do not hold back on doing something simply because it COULD be illegal or SEEMS illegal. Find out first, educate yourselves and then go explore. You will be amazed at whats LEGALY permissable both in geocahing and wifi searching. -tom ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org

  12. Here in Portland OR at least there are more than a few nodes run by folks who ALLOW folks to use a slice of thier bandwidth to connect via the wireless ports. This is called A GOOD THING and should not be confused with the THEM GEEKS ARE ALL CRIMINAL mindset. Yes, some people actualy SHARE bits of what they have so others can join in. So rather than just painting this all with the CRIMINAL brush, why not look into it some more and find the wonderfull world of Random Acts OF Kindness. -tom ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org
  13. If your eyes were ever burnt red by the green glow of an Apple][ or your ears buzzed with the 18 wheeler gear grinding sounds of the Atari 800's hard drives then you probably know the name. If you dont, thats cool, heres a chance to find out something new. The Good Lord British is a name many folks will remeber from as far back as the early 80's. Akalabeth was his first major hit with the Ultima series of computer games making him famous in the land of computer gamers. He was smart though, he worked his fame and the good name of his games to build a company of his own rather than letting the games be run by a large corp. He did his best to keep the games hand crafted with lots hours of enjoyment. The top of the mountain for him was Ultima Online, a massivley multiplayer versions of his 20 year old mythology that runs 24/7. Think of it as a MUD/MUCK/MOO with a Gui and tons of backstory. That and Everyquest are seen to many as the CrackCocaine of online gaming. It is, stay far far away. Recently he has steped away from the land of Britiana, the biz side at least, and is dabbling in other things. If hes caching I hope he leaves some moongates. A fan, but not fanatic. -tom ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org

  25. Boring would definetly not be a plce to hold a gathering....maybe Happy Valley.. A nice big park out in the Gresham/Troutdale area might be a very cool thing. If its two weeked either side of our delivery date (july 29th) Team WSMF would be up for it. A nonbar event always make the family team happy. This way I can haul in some Fred and the kid can stay somkeyfree and sippy whatever fruit colored thing sees into this week. ---------------------------- TeamWSMF@wsmf.org
