  1. A popular method employed is to pretend you are tying your shoelaces whilst reaching for the cache. This along with waiting for traffic lights to go in my favour, allowed me (hopefully) to find and log a cache in Leeds city centre that I found today without looking too suspicious.
  2. It means that the cache is likely to be in a busy area and you'll need to be very careful to not comprise the cache location.
  3. I don't believe that getting rid of virtuals, webcams etc was to make way for new types. The idea was to bring geocaching back to what it is supposed to be. Surely looking for large or regular caches provides an easy way of finding caches suitable of taking book crossing books. Maybe you could attach a TB tag to the books and then you'd be able to track them through GC.com.
  4. i.e Copy? Would be useful.
  5. I wonder if you can log them on GC.com?
  6. May I refer you to this publication: I don't think walking down a motorway with GPSr in hand is a good idea.
  7. Better get them quick before their stock melts away.
  8. Could you not just run a PQ to find them?
  9. Nah, not a real issue, just something I thought was a bit odd.
  10. Hmm, when are you going to tell us the good case? The motorway mayhem series is intended to make life more interesting for people on journeys. In what way does having a few caches in an area as opposed to one matter?
  11. I can't help it, I feel a force in the back of my mind saying "place more caches!"
  12. "But you said you'd give me the cache sheet before you published it"
  13. Just set up my first members only cache, probably just until its been found first, so its nice to be able to see who's been looking at the page. What I'm wondering though, is why do I want to know how many times I've looked at the page, can't the owner be excluded from the audit log? Adam
  14. Had a little play around in Google Earth, I think your hotel is somewhere near 34.703889° 135.487038°. Which is near Floating Garden (GCG49D) so maybe use that as a starting point. Most of the caches look to be south.
  15. Well done! Was just checking out their stats as I added them into the CotM database.
  16. Or just write a poem that is nothing to do with Haiku like I did.
  17. Wish I could go to Canada again, hope you had a good trip.
  18. Rutson's hidden another Over the Ainleys I go GPS in hand Will I get the First to Find! or Its cold, its raining Can hardly feel my fingers But I'm caching so I'm happy Oh no, here comes another shower!
  19. Yes that is true HH but it would be difficult to change now. People might end up logging TBs twice which would create even more confusion. Whilst it is a good idea, I think it might be better to only change on thing at a time. Moote: You have made your opinions clear in previous posts. If you don't wish to participate then thats okay, don't feel the need to keep justifying that decision. P&T: I will let everyone know the plan very soon via email, leaving plenty of time for feedback.
  20. Ok how does this sound: 3. Travel bugs and Geocoins will be counted on the day you picked them up. All bugs/coins need to be picked up to be moved to be counted. Travel bugs or Geocoins logged out and then back into caches or events do not count. I don't see this as a rule change as such, more just clearing up any confusion. With regards to the cache points, I think its better to stay as it is. I can't think of a way to make it work without having to have people input the GC code of each cache they've found, something which is just going to take too long. Also, I can just imagine the debate about how one 5/5 cache is not as hard as another 5/5 cache so can X be awarded more points. Another thing is, the D/T ratings wouldn't take into account the amount of effort someone has put in to find a cache. For example, if a 1/1 cache is 50 miles from someones home, and to get to it they must go on four buses because they don't have public transport, then they'd still only receive 1 points (or whatever it was). I don't think this would serve to further the aims of COTM to encourage Geocaching.
  21. Thats weird, I copied it straight from PayPal before. Just done it again and it works? Anyway, don't bother, I don't drink enough beer!
  22. PS. I will reply to the other posts properly once I'm home.
