  1. I've developed an opinion about you from reading this thread. It isn't exactly a positive one. However, I am pretty sure that if I actually took the time to have a beer with you and talk one on one that my opinion might change.
  2. NO!! DON'T DO THAT!!!Oh, just to make it official, here's the quote: ...Unfortunately, this is not the only problem, though. In the cases of geocaching fatalities that I have heard of, the deceased put themselves in danger. In cases where people are making themselves road hazards, they are putting everyone on the road with them in danger. Thanks for the quote. I didn't see that when I posted. Should I go back and add your quote to my last post?
  3. I would guess injuries at remote and high terrain caches would be to those seeking the cache. Reading the power trail threads it seems that people not seeking the cache are put in danger. Quote me one post where any person has ever actually suggested/implied or outright said this. I'll be over here holding my breath. I said I would "guess" that injuries at remote and high terrain caches would be to those seeking the cache. I have no proof nor have I read anything stating it as a fact. But unless it was someone rescuing a trapped cacher, it just seems logical. If you mean quote someone implying that power trail caching puts non seekers in danger wouldn't you agree that a car parked in the middle of the road with both doors open puts other drivers who are not caching in danger?
  4. If she removes the cache then in her mind she is letting the guy win. But if she goes and talks to him then there is a chance for them both to win. Not sure what is offensive about that.
  5. Only if you let him. You could move the cache and talk to crazy camera guy and both of you win.
  6. I would guess injuries at remote and high terrain caches would be to those seeking the cache. Reading the power trail threads it seems that people not seeking the cache are put in danger.
  7. Did he ever tell you that he is the one that moved the cache? You have not answered how you know he is the one responsible for it being moved. If he is the one that moved it, then I would agree he should move it back. But if he found it six feet away, then he has no responsibility other than to be nice to you. This was understood from the beginning. That is not what I am questioning. I realize you can't physically get to where the cache has been moved. But unless the guy is the one that moved it, then you really can't expect him to do anything more than he already has. I'm not sure what a geocoin is or why is it so important but you mentioned in your second post that you were going to have to go out an put a new cache so you could reach it. If did this what are the chances that anyone would ever see that geocoin again if they were finding the new cache instead of the old one? No you don't. He hasn't responded so you don't have a clue what his intentions are. He could just not be happy with being harrassed by someone blaming him for something he didn't do. IMHO that is what you should have done instead of starting this thread. There was a thread a few days ago very similar to this one and it turned really nasty because the poster made unfounded accusations in a public forum. I think it is always best to make sure you know exactly what happened before accusing someone of something in public. Even if you do know for certain what happened I think you should still consider if it is worth the trouble. I think it is alot easier to just get a friend to go with you and fix things than to start an internet war with someone you don't know. It sounds to me like you posted to vent. You aimed your frustration at someone that you think moved your cache. You may have an admission of that, but you have'nt said. If you don't, then I think venting about the cache being moved would be ok, but not blaming someone without proof. I edited and stiked thru the line that he hadn't responded. You still don't know what his priorities are.
  8. Sure it does, since he asked for help. I don't follow. It's fine to ask for help. And it's great if someone helps out. But how does being disabled entitle you to anything? I agree he should get a buddy to go with him to search. But a complete stranger has no obligation to do anything for him. I think he should be thankful that he confirmed the cache was still there.
  9. Why are you focusing so much anger on this guy? Do you know he moved your cache? If so, why would he go back a second time for you? It sounds to me like you are pretty unappreciative. I don't mean to sound like a cad, but being disabled does not entitle you to any special treatment.
  10. I've wondered what happens if a cache goes missing and I'm the last one to log a find. I think it was nice of the guy to go back and check on it. I don't understand why you would email him because he didn't send you a picture of it though. I wouldn't expect someone to do that.
  11. You must not do too much caching in the woods. There are lots of spiders and nasties there. This weekend I was almost up to my knees in mud. I guess no one should hide caches where you might get filthy hunting them either. I agree trashing the environment should be avoided, but if you are afraid of bugs then geocaching is probably not for you.
  12. My only complaint so far is discovering that the cache is a micro after a fairly good hike. I admit that we are still learning and it's not really the micro that is the problem. But after hiking a good distance you don't want to spend an hour looking for the cache. To be fair, we should have paid closer attention to the cache listing.
  13. I barely made it through the first page. Math makes my head hurt. So generally I can expect about a 58ft search radius?
  14. You people are taking me MUCH too seriously! I don't know what your situation is, but where I live there are a lot of caches. I guess that probably isn't true for everyone. I happen to be in a large populated area and we also have a lot of wildlife area. This means there are a lot of caches hidden where we normally hike. So I don't see gas prices as a problem for me. I understand it is for others. I didn't mean to say anything bad about those that are affected.
  15. It'd be a miracle if this ridiculous notion of a platinum membership ever died. Thanks for railroading another topic. If anybody is railroading the topic, it's you with your ridiculous, off-topic political commentary. Sounds like someone's jealous that he didn't get in on the platinum membership. What the heck is platinum membership?? I've never heard of it. I was wondering the same thing.
  16. Once you find your first one you have to find another. And then another, and another.
  17. There are plenty of caches nearby and I prefer hiking to driving.
  18. My brother gave me the coordinates for a few caches around the house.
  19. We found several caches before we created our account. I logged them on the dates we found them. Someone emailed me later and asked about it. I explained why and they said it was ok. In hindsight, I think it would have been better to explain it in the logs. It just didn't occur to me at the time.
  20. Best program for that is EasyGPS. However, the etrex is just not a paperless unit and will not be able to display the cache page details other than name, coords and the hint. I'll try EasyGPS. Is there a better gps that is as affordable as the etrex? We are really enjoying this so far and I might be willing to put a little more into one that is easier to get the coordinates into.
