  1. That puts everything into a different perspective. It's quite a different mood to what you portrayed in your first post. Still don't know why they needed to ask her about geocaching without a parent around, but it sounds now like they were just making a routine followup.
  2. That's ok. It is reasonable to follow up on a complaint. But after seeing that 2 were obviously father and daughter, would you then request to speak to the child outside the parents' presence? I think this is where most people think they crossed the line.
  3. Actually, looking at the call log (have to read it in reverse order), the plate was called in after the op left. But I agree with EagleRiver that the description they had was enough to stop him there rather than waiting until he got home. I just reread it and a little girl in all pink is going to be pretty easy to spot. What puzzles me is why someone suspecting murder or molestation or whatever was going through their heads would just walk on past you and let you out of their sight. If they were that concerned, they should have continued to huddle cowardly behind the tree until the police showed up. At least then they would know you couldn't do anything to the little girl with you. What good is it to call the police because you think something might happen if you are going to then give the person an opportunity to do whatever you think they were going to do.
  4. Read the call log and the op carefully. The description of the truck and license plate number were not called in until after they left. The police officer in the vehicle may have looked at them but at the moment had no way of knowing they were the 2 the police were searching for. You gotta assume the police still thought the people they were looking for were on the trail.
  5. ND? Condition 2? Yep that clears it up nicely. Now I don't feel so bad for asking for definitions to terms. I did figure out from context that ND is negligent discharge. But I don't know what condition 2 is either. After I posted I think condition 2 is accidental discharge.
  6. I think I misunderstood what you were saying. And I just assumed it was a he because guns just seems like a guy topic to me. I understand what NeecesandNephews is saying too about "hot topic" issue regardless of what forum you are on. But I have learned quite a bit from this topic. At least I've learned a few new vocabulary words.
  7. New account, no hides, no finds, few posts. Post known hot topic in forum. No, you are not alone. If he is new, then how would he be aware that this is a hot topic? I'm new too and I've been picking up things here and there. This is the first gun discussion I've seen since I started.
  8. Thanks for clearing up a lot of confusion for me. I just assumed if concealed weapons were permitted that open carry would be automatic. It almost seems a little backwards. Maybe I'm not understanding the term printing very well either. Does that refer to how identifiable the weapon is through the clothes rather than just revealing the weapon by say your shirt getting pulled up over the weapon? I know while out hiking, I tend to wipe sweat with my shirt. I will also unbutton my outer shirt if it's hot. I guess I would need to have some way of concealing in my pants or my ankle. But I guess the only real risk of damage to the weapon would be when you slip the banks of the lake or tumble down a steep incline. That brings up another issue unrelated to the topic. If you take a tumble downhill, what is the risk of an accidental discharge?
  9. I've seen a couple of references to printing while crawling under things. I get the impression that if you are CCW and your weapon becomes exposed that this can be illegal? Or is it just that you want to make every effort not to reveal you are carrying? I was also wondering if anyone had any concerns about their weapon getting clogged or jammed with dirt while crawling under stuff looking for a cache?
  10. Great post! That summary ties the discussion in nicely with geocaching.
  11. Removed comments because I see mod has already dealt with issues. Thanks.
  12. Why are you intentionally trying to derail this thread? It seems from your posts that you don't like this particular subject. Why not just ignore the thread then? Otherwise, I think it has been a rather civilized discussion. I don't carry a concealed weapon. I do carry an openly sheathed machete. I don't have any problem with someone carrying a gun though.
  13. If he is paying his rent then he has adequate permission. I wouldnt do it though. I prefer hiking caches.
  14. What if my buddy is in a wheelchair and I do the climbing for him?
  15. The p word has been used from the beginning of the thread. Different "P" word. Check my signature. Sorry, I didn't see poush posted. Just kidding. I see what you are talking about now. Thought you meant power trail.

  17. Beats being down. That was pretty much my weekend.
  18. Got nothing to add, but that is an awesome handle.
  19. I love every day that I'm alive (well, there have been a few notable exceptions) but that doesn't mean I can't gripe about the weather. But where you can't control the weather, you can choose where you cache.
  20. Hasn't been a problem for me yet. The caches I've looked for have been fun even when I didn't find them.
  21. Words cannot sum up my response to this, so I guess emoticons will have to do. I will say though, in my defense, that I am a technical book editor, so this is just how I write, not speak. You're still missing the point. The point is my impression of you right now is probably WRONG because I haven't taken the time to talk to you. You have no real clue what is going on with camera guy because you haven't bothered to talk to him. You are just making assumptions based on what you think you know about him. I have archived the cache, so it really doesn't matter anymore. Why would I talk to him when I no longer have anything to gain? If he is a nut, then by talking to him now he will have a new target for his anger - me. You can use the advise you got for your next cache or for life in general. It seems like you are enjoying the thread, so it's all good.
  22. Ugh, yeah, I know. I DID archive it. But this thread keeps going and I feel like I have to keep defending myself and rehashing the situation. You all want to call this a day? Or do I have to continue? No. Click the report button at the bottom and ask them to close it if you don't want it to continue. I'm pretty sure you can just say so and they will close it but it might take longer.
