  1. And, indeed if the find count is not a 'score', then why log it? This, sir, is where you and nearly every other geocacher diverge. The relative meaning of the find count is debatable, but it IS a SCORE. It's not just a way of knowing what I have previously found so I don't go hunting for it again?
  2. Yep...time for GS to show some power to tell other not to abuse archived virtual Slapping people on the hand doesnt work for some people. How is this abuse if the person logging the cache actually visited the location? Is it against the rules for me to log a physical cache after it has been archived if the owner neglected to pick up the container and I actually found it?
  3. THIS. Makes sense if the cache was archived due to land owner concerns. Land owner concerns were didn't seem to be an issue with this cache.
  4. Yeah. It didn't seem to be suffering before or after the archival. It does look like the owner pretty much lost interest or at least there is not much activity on that account. But the cache was being found just fine before it got archived. It didn't seemed to be abused. Just don't get the point of archiving a virtual that seems to be getting along fine.
  5. I saw this advertised in an announcement for a new power trail. Clay4 & whtwolfden’s ET Highway Info What is the point in archiving a virtual cache for lack of owner response if it is still loggable? Forgot link to the announcement. https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1b8VhcV3yki54pXTMynpnoQPYPFawZjmyD4wj_zZ7bz0
  6. Sounds like you're saying basic members are not part of the caching community.
  7. I put my vote on #6. All I get is the ad to upgrade when I click the link. But, just learned this week that she has a log that she can use to track viewers of the listing. That might tell her if anyone is looking at it or not.
  8. Now that's hardcore. And I hope you're joking.
  9. He did not sign the log, because he was unable to. That would be a good enough excuse. For the average cacher it would be. The forums seem to attract the "hardcore" players that refuse to log it AT ALL no matter what the circumstances are if they don't have there name in the log. It's annoying because very few people outside these forums play like that. But watcha gonna do? If you're going to call us out, get it right. If I can mark the log somehow, I log the find. If I have to poke a hole in a mushy log with my pen, that's my mark for that cache and I log it. A mud line with a stick? Log it. Most "hardcore players" I've talked to, or posts I've read, have the same mindset. Who says he's calling you out? You sound like a firmcore player. I have read other posts that state exactly what Coldgears said. There are several posters in these forums that see it black and white with no shade of grey in the middle. No sign = no find.
  10. I think what rifleman is saying is that once you log into the site in one place, you should be logged into all the site's areas, like Google. It works for the feedback tab. If you are logged in and click that tab, you are logged into the feedback site even though it is a different company running it. If they can do it for that, they should be able to make it work for the forums, Wherigo, Waymarking, shopping, etc.
  11. What do you mean by that? No answer, no picture, no log. You are his brother, right? Can you say what happened to get him permanently banned?
  12. Why would they suddenly change a year ban into a permanent ban? That doesn't make sense unless he did something else during that time.
  13. It means he kept deleting find logs he didn't like.
  14. Wouldn't a blank description also meet the guidelines here?
  15. So how much did your replacement mailbox cost? The peters trios mailbox wasn't blown up. The person who asked her out blew his ex girlfriends mailbox. I know that. It was a joke because you know he wasn't real happy with getting turned down by her. Maybe I should have bolded YOUR in addition to the emoticon.
  16. So how much did your replacement mailbox cost?
  17. That's the one I keep seeing mention of. I have looked and don't see an off topic section. I'm assuming it's hidden to us mere mortals. Correct, OT isn't visible in the forum index unless you are logged in as PM. Check out this thread in the Getting Started forum...apparently the OT forum's reputation has made it quite the coveted perk: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=273419 Looks like we mortals are not the only ones that can't see it.

  19. Then do it for the PQs. That's what I'm paying for. I'm considering it. They sound very useful. Although it's pretty easy to find good caches around here using the basic tools. The bookmark thing sounds the most useful and I am curious what is being hidden. I catch wiffs of things that I cannot find. I can only assume they are hidden from basic members. So if for no other reason, I think I'll try it. I am a curious sort.
  20. I don't get the "support the site" mantra I hear bounced around. As far as I can tell, Groundspeak is a business. I am willing to try out their premium membership if it offers something substantial over basic membership. But I'm not going to shell out money just for the sake of lining another man's pockets.
  21. Well, in that vain, you could just quit caching altogether. That's guaranteed to keep you out of anyone's audit log as well. I honestly don't see the problem with being on someone's audit log. Can you help me understand this? Explain what the objection you have with it please? Honestly, with fresh eyes and re-reading the multiple pmo threads, I have come to the conclusion that it's a non-issue with the exception of the occasional false accusations. I'm actually thinking it might be kind of cool to watch people checking out your hides.
  22. No, not really. http://geolex.locusprime.net/ I meant I will have to upgrade so I can experience some of this stuff. I am very curious about this audit log and PQs. I want to see if they are really that helpful. The PQ thing sounds really useful.
  23. Sounds like you got yourself an agenda there. Contact Groundspeak and they should be able to get it fixed.
  24. Care to summarise for those of us who would rather not trawl through the preceding diatribe? TIA. PQ Need anything more? Oh. That's been mentioned a few times. I'm gonna have to go premium just so I can learn what all this code word stuff is.
