  1. Thank you to everyone, I am struggling with everything at the moment and am trying to get out and calm down, I say what I feel unfortunately but its the only way I can cope at the moment until I get back to the doctors. I have had depression for many years and had cancer last year(ish) and surgery to remove it and cannot wait to get an active life again. My brains are fried from all the tablets I am on and I need some sleep, (Only sleeping for an hour at a time) hence the need to get out and walk to tire me out. Once again, thank you. The Boltonian. (Derek)
  2. Figured out how to download individual cache locations or whatever waypoints benchmarks or other names I keep finding (why not just one name?) to my 60CSx I then paid for a years subscription to get access to downloading the 500 or whatever and it gives me a LOC file that doesnt want to open in anything let alone transfer to my device. I cant cope with doing it one by 1, I will end up smashing the thing or the computer or both in frustration. The drugs dont help that much any more with mood swings, think I will go back to the doc's.
  3. Saw they had an e version but the cheeky buggers are charging the same as a printed version. NOT getting my money.
  4. My humble apologies, I went off on one again. My foot is in my mouth again. Sometimes my medication doesnt work, sometimes it does. It doesnt help to find the container for the week untouched. Sorry for any offence.
  5. Don't worry, you'll learn CO = Cache Owner D5 = Difficulty 5 rating D/T = difficulty/terrain Learning isnt the point, there are many others out there that have to ask and ask and ask. If an acronym isnt in the mainstream world (not restricted to just geocaching then is the time to use them), when you expect new members to join, it is better not to use them.
  6. Personally I don't see why it should be deleted. Can't see anything wrong with it, you've not been mean or worded your opinion badly. I see the CO has done one D5 cache themselves, perhaps that was easy too. Nothing wrong with stating your opinion though. I have commented on the D/T ratings a few times, both when I personally have considered them too high or too low. Don't expect the CO to make a change on my say so alone, but if several people start saying the same then it would help future finders. OK, I am getting annoyed with all the TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms) used in these groups. Please keep it to plain English. CO D5 D/T and many more else where, how are noobs - and there are many of us, supposed to understand what the heck you are on about. I understand the need for them on the logs but NOT here.
  7. Glad you posted this as I bought one of these on Sunday at the Warrington meet. It seems OK and as stated takes the Talky maps. Will be doing a cache hunt this week and will try and update you.
  8. I think there should be something to show dislike to give the rest of us a clue to avoid.
  9. I agree, was on my first today thanks to the Warrington crew. Tired out now though as not used to the physical walking after being ill.
  10. Thats what I was thinking, I would object to finding things in say nettles more than ivy.
  11. I did wonder where in the UK Okc/ Edmond was situated.
  12. Thanks for all the info there, I was too polite to point out that the NE is the wrong way but the link did work. Have observed the NW site but not registered or commented as it seems to be broken and well out of date. I am registered here and with GAGB and that is enough for me to handle as I like to get involved so limit myself to areas that take my fancy. Changed my name to my preferred name 'Boltonian' which is also my SFC name. (StarFleet Commander).
  13. As with any hobby, as pointed out earlier but only picked up by 1, there could be legitimate reasons someone cannot carry out their intentions. An example, I am a keen photographer and vanished from all websites just over a year ago for over 6 months with no explanation. Even now, I am only just catching up and have been out only once on a physical photo shoot. The reason: I was ill, very ill and was admitted to hospital the same day. Several operations later and it is unlikely I will work ever again. I was never ill before and if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.
  14. Heard of Stalybridge never been there but will be going to either the Chorley or Warrington meets both of which are in my diary. -I think the Chorley one and Leyland are the same meet depending on how you look at the map. (GC2K978) is meaningless to me at the moment though. try this pageGC2K978 Yep thats the one in Chorley in my diary already. Still dont know what the GC refers to though, I would have thought map references but they are just a set of digits of various length depending on how accurate you want to be

  16. This phone cost £14 from ASDA last month and had £10 free calls on it. It doesnt have BT. I think my car does but not sure.
  17. I am an oldie myself, (50 in March OUCH). I have a basic phone that makes calls and text only with only 2 numbers programmed in it. I know roughly what blue tooth is but dont have a child to show me how so I never got one.
  18. Thanks to both recent posts. I doubt my Tom Tom (very old) would be suitable as I am thinking of changing it for a more suitable one for the car. There are a couple of meets near me soon so I will tag along and chat with them and have a go with their kit if they let me.
  19. Thanks, I will try that, using some of the stuff i have seen so far, I have identified a dozen local to me (2 miles) and am going to a nearby meet next month.
  20. Thanks. have registered with the GAwatsits but cant post there yet.
  21. OK, this sounds like fun. I have not got a clue. I thought my sat nav was a gps but obviously not. I live in Breightmet, Bolton, BL2 5JE. I drive and am familiar with some of the surrounding areas such as up to 20 miles away. I am on reduced income and therefore want to know that I will enjoy this before I rush out and buy all the gear with no idea. I recently had surgery to remove bowel cancer so mobility is a small problem but I can walk. I am looking at joining this hobby from a photography angle. Anyone willing to buddy up and show me the ropes and advise what is needed and how much to pay on say ebay etc would be most welcome.
