  1. Perhaps she's not lost after all! Charlotte @ Fuzzy Knights
  2. Charlotte the CACHE Bear has finally arrived! Check out her page to see where she is and what's on her list of upcoming adventures!
  3. It's been over a year since there was a Charlotte the CACHE Bear update here. Just thought I'd let you know Charlotte's heading "off course" for a while for a special adventure. Be sure to keep an eye out on her page to see where she ends up next!
  4. This cache is not near BOB but is fairly close to the airport. It is certainly appropriate for a TB. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=13581
  5. TUCSON, AZ (July 17, 2002)-- Effective Thursday, July 18, the Coronado National Forest will re-open to public access... It's good to know the Coronado isn't the only National Forest re-opening. Now we'll have to get back to camping and caching!
  6. Guess in this game it just goes to show... You never know!

Follow-up inquiry with the tracking number was sent on April 16th. Still...nothing. I figured since I couldn't get a reply, it must have something to do with what some have called being a "lowly geocacher" and I let it go at that.

I think it depends on a given situation. Our travel bug, Charlotte the CACHE Bear , was mailed to us from Australia to start her journey. Charlotte is currently stranded in a cache due to a National Forest closure. Since Bec has cancer...should it ever become necessary...I'm going to ENCOURAGE MAILING her in order to assist Charlotte in completing her journey. In the end...it's your bug! You as the OWNER have the right to decide...You get to make the rules for your bug!

  14. quote:Originally posted by clatmandu:. . . Groundspeak should be able to help. You just need to give them time to answer. May take a few days. If it's the tag number, email the bug owner. I think treker had it right when he/she said: quote:I tried emailing at Groundspeak but they don't answer email. I wouldn't count on an answer in a few days. I'm still waiting for a reply to an e-mail I sent to Groundspeak on the 16th of April.

  16. Mark and Bec, Not to worry, Charlotte is not in the path of any fires as yet. We have planned a rescue mission the moment fire restrictions are lifted where Charlotte is located. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for rain...and lots of it. Karen of Team "OFF RODE"
  17. I had to laugh when I read the choices but, seriously, I see no NEED to decide on an official definition. I abstain from voting but I'll be watching for other's comments.
  18. Sherrie... I'm not sure if any areas are open for camping. A search of BLM land may show some areas that are still open. It's my guess that the NFS is trying to be proactive in fighting fires this season. Today on the news I heard of an idiot that was ticketed over the Memorial Day holiday (when NO BURN fire restrictions were in effect) for burning a "No Fires" sign to start his barbecue. Guess it takes all kinds. Here's a LINK to a news story about just how bad the fire is at Mt. Lemmon. Let's hope that by the last 2 weeks of July, we're having monsoons...maybe then the fire danger will subside.

  20. quote:Originally posted by TimC:Yeah, so far BLM is still open, just check your maps carefully. The way the land is so intermingled you don't want to get ticketed (fines are huge!!!). I'll say huge! Here's what I found earlier today on that subject: TUCSON, AZ (May 27, 2002)-- Beginning Tuesday, May 28, at 8:00 a.m., the Coronado National Forest will be closed to unauthorized entry due to extreme fire danger until further notice. Violation of the closure is punishable by a fine up to $5000 for an individual, $10,000 for a legal entity other than an individual, or imprisonment up to 6 months, or both. Persons who start wildfires may be liable for suppression costs. Sure isn't worth making a mistake. I agree with TimC...check those maps very carefully!
  21. Charlotte the CACHE Bear is currently in a cache in Arizona in the Coronado National Forest which has been closed due to extreme fire danger. A large portion of the southwestern United States has been suffering from severe drough. Keep your fingers crossed and do a little rain dance...maybe Charlotte will stay safe.

  23. Charlotte the CACHE Bear is in the Coronado. We've updated her page to reflect her predicament. Sad thing is, we were planning a rescue trip for this weekend to get her out of the NF and on to another cache. Now, we wish we'd been able to go this past weekend.

  25. I think it's a great idea and I voted to post it. I'd much rather see it posted as it is than posted as a MOCache. I don't see any problem with giving someone a little extra "incentive" to visit all the counties in your state. A visitor to the state couldn't necessarily log the cache but as for a newbie...some hard work on their part and they certainly could; and after logging your cache they'd hardly be considered newbies! Sure is tough trying to figure out what is "elitist" around here.
