The next TrailMix? I am leaning toward the Shaw Lake Trail in Clark State Forest in Henryville. Henryville is at Exit 19 off of I-65. The start of this trail has a legitimate 3-1/2 or 4 Hill to climb. After that the going is more of a 2 or 2-1/2 for most of the way. There is 20+ caches here and would be a good way to blow 3 or 4 hours. There are five caches around the lake that are a 2 - 2-1/2 hike that would take about an hour to grab. I am looking at March 11 or 18. I have to check my dates. I have a conflict on one of those days. I hope to have an event page up soon. Thanks to all the made the last TrailMix so much fun. Any ideas on how to make it better?

FYI Deermark, if you're uncertain between the 11th or the 18th of March, U of E and USI are both on spring break on the 11th. Beffums was thinking about having a similar event on either the 11th or the 4th at USI in order to decrease the number of muggles around and depending on interest and when people could make it. We'd both also love to go on the next trail mix... As for improving the next trailmix, how about jetdryers in front of us to dry up the mud!

Popping this one back to the top so someone will hopefully answer my question...

So how does the user interface of the GlobalSat BT-338 compare to say a Garmin Etrex legend. The most important functionality that I see for geocaching is a navigation tool of some kind. Also, I assume that there is no limit to the number of waypoints with this kind of setup. 1000 on the etrex is just too few, IMHO. Last, how easy is it to mark a waypoint with this setup? My wife and I spend almost as much time placing caches as we do hunting them lately. Thanks!

2 cats here. Just remember, the data you get from the forums may be skewed.

I can't tell you the oldest placed in Indiana. But according to local greater Louisville, KY cachers, The Falls of the Ohio(GC55E) is the third oldest cache in the state. I also know for a fact that it is active as my wife (Beffums) and I got it for our 200th cache back in mind December. I hope this helps.

No problems here with a TX either. I love paperless caching. Now if I could only get my TX to interface with the GPSr so I could update waypoints in the field. Stupid Garmin only holds 1000.

Hi all,
I'm using an Extrex legend for geocaching and have recently started doing paperless caching. I now have a problem, it appears that you can only store 1500 waypoints into the GPSr, but this accounts for only about 15% of the units totol memory. Is there any way to reallocate the memory available for waypoints in this GPSr? Thanks!

Okay, so it took me a while to post my thanks to all the great Louisville cachers for a great weekend. My POS comp took a bit to get going and Beffums is much faster at logging caches than I am. Special thanks to Deermark, Daggy, and Doobies for Friday night. It was a blast. Team Neos were great guides around all the caches and even got a few for themselves. Awesome time!

(JAPTKD has this goal of going to his family for Christmas, and getting to gloat to JASMOM, JASPOP, Thingfinders, and Green_Eyed_Lady that we have more caches than the rest of them combined. sigh. my husband is just soooo mature...)
At least I'm not the one with a caching dance! Indigo and trailmix both sound like a blast. I know we had a really good time at the inaugural Indigo meeting in Evansville. Now if I can just manage to get me and Beffums over 200 this weekend! Anyone know of a good cache for a milestone in or around Louisville?

Got on of PCmobile's reradiating antenna for my Etrex and I love it. Only issue is you have to get a bigger rubberband than the one they include to securely attach the antenna to the GPSr. We've seen down to 6 foot accuracy with this model in the car going 80!

How about designating 3 or 4 acceptable caches per set region (city, town, county, whatever is decided upon). This way if one of the caches is muggled, disable, etc., the bugs have alternatives. Also, I would recommend prohibiting all multistage and puzzle caches and the like as these are not visited as frequently and the bugs are more likely to get stranded in these caches. Other ideas?
